Chapter 9 - Chapter 8: Hold You in my Arms

"Son, I'm ain't cooking."

She stopped and noticed her son sitting on the dining table with a wry smile. She turned to the direction that seemed to might have retrieved her only son's lost smile for the past week. Since Michan left the house, Ginn had not smiled at all making her realize how significant Michan is in her son's life..

A silk haired beauty was busy preparing breakfast with headphones on her petite head in the well-equipped kitchen. Just then before her eyes were fully enveloped in the reverie, another pair of grown eyes landed on the back of the beauty. "What in the world are you doing here?" he bellowed but she seemed not mind at all. She was engrossed in making the meals and sway to the melodies from her headphones. Indifferent to the atmosphere, the beauty turned calmy and kept a straight face; fearless indeed. In the past two years, she grew fearless of people and cold though she was thawing the past six months. The cold Michan was back in full drive.

'I have to be a demon to fight another demon.' Not evil for evil but ice against fire. She returned ready to battle against Kristine.

'I am not going to do this for anyone else but for me. She tried to mess with me again so I am going to do a pay back.' She had said to Danielle and now here she was. Danielle was super proud of her friend's reform.

She removed her headphones as soon as she saw them and gave them a fake but winsome smile.

He bellowed again his question as soon as he earned her attention. "What in the world are you doing here?"

"Can't I?" What! Is she serious? They were now furious apart from Ginn of course. Kristine stepped in to find Michan dressed in the house apron.

"You can't after what you did? Are you that shameless?" Mr. Thompson bellowed at her angrily but he earned an annoying smile from her. She stepped closer and smirked.

"Yes! Yes, I got thick skin. Can't I? Some people where shameless enough to reappear in Vampire diaries, right?" They looked at her completely perplexed.

She beckoned them to sit and have breakfast as she untied the apron and made herself comfortable in her usual spot next to Ginn. "That's my seat, fool!" Kristine spat out arrogantly.

"But it was mine to begin with." Michan smirked and began eating her vegetable sandwich not minding the murderous glares cascading the brown orbs of Kristine. Kristine enraged, smacked away the sandwich from her hands to the floor.

"Watch it girl!" Mrs. Thompson warned. "My husband might be on your side but I am on nobody's side and will not tolerate any of the both of your tantrums in my house. I do not know who is right so until then, sit down." This infuriated Kristine so much to the extent that she stormed away back to her room.

Michan looked at Ginn's mother gratefully. Mrs. Thompson looked away and sat in her chair to have her breakfast. She was inwardly gratefully for Michan's comeback; she bet that it was her son's happiness.

Mr. Thompson just walked away and did not want to eat but that's not what Michan came for. She stopped him as he was about to exist the dining hall.

"I request you sit and we have a chat over the divorce issue while we eat." Michan spoke earning surprised looks from the three. "What do you mean? I thought you do not want to let my son go?" he asked. She chuckled.

"Why not? I did not intend to marry him in the first place so why would I hold onto him? Anyway, leave that aside. Sit we discuss."

"There is nothing to discuss. I will bring you the documents to sign."

"Not so fast, sir. I have conditions."

He frowned and was all ears to hear whatever she was to lay on the table and convinced himself that he would refuse whatever she requests. Left with no choice, he sat down.

"Eat as we talk." She requested once again.

He began eating and she took opportunity to begin speaking when he was quarter filled.

"First, I won't get divorced from your son until my mother's wedding is done."

He almost choked on his food. "What? When is she going to get married then? In a year's time?" He thought no one would want to marry someone with a grown up child no matter how beautiful and gorgeous one was just like Pranella.

"Soon! She is getting married this spring. So that's one month from now, right?"

Ginn was hiding his displeasure of the topic but had no say for some reason.

"The second condition is, my mother should not know about the divorce until it's done. Are we good?" Mr. Thompson sighed and agreed. "It seems your conditions are not selfish at all to my surprise. I agree on all of them because your mother seemed to be a good lady and she deserves happiness."

They called a lawyer that evening and preparations were done. To their surprise, the lawyer told them a condition that shocked all of them.

"Sir Thompson, there is one condition you should know. If a divorce is being issued without any valid reason, the couple is made to stay under one roof for six more months to make sure their decision is not out of compulsion."

"What do you mean?" The lawyer affirmed his statement and bid them good bye after informing them that a supervisor will visit occasionally without informing to make sure that the condition is fulfilled.

"I guess you are happy." Kristine commented trying to taunt Michan but she was different from the pushover she was. "What if I am? Will you stop me?" She paused a bit to let it sink then continued. "Truthfully, am ain't happy because I do not want to keep your trophy and keep mine waiting." She was referring to her Davis. After rebutting, she walked away back to her room. Her words sliced Ginn's heart to an extent she did not even know.

Michan called Danielle and informed her of the drama that unfolded. Danielle was surprisingly happy disguising it as a good thing for buying them more time to expose Kristine. But why was she really happy?

The next days went smooth as Michan continued cooking breakfast and dinner while not eating any and attended work on a daily basis including weekends. She tried to treasure Davis but her mind somehow diverted to Ginn. It was frustrating her of how she could not control her own mind. Davis at some point felt insecure so he decided to inquire about the divorce but her reply broke him knowing he had to endure more six months of diverted attention from her.

'It's as if you are never mine.' He thought to himself and buried it within himself.

Pranella's wedding was around the corner and Michan was so lively in the preparations. Joy was feeling every part of their lives finally, she thought. Two days to the wedding, Michan got sick but she restrained herself not to ruin the moods. Dizziness began owning her days alongside persistent headaches. Being that they had to keep a good facade in her mother's eyes, Ginn had to accompany her to the wedding preparation events.

Pranella knew about the wedding mess but hoped they would make it work and always told Michan to try. In her mind she remembered how Michan was always happy with Ginn since day one after they moved from Kielen, Michan was sad but her sadness vanished when they encountered Ginn at the park. Since then, they became friends and her joy lay in his presence.

Back to the wedding;

Ginn sensed Michan's pain and became suspicious.

"Are you okay Mich?"

Ginn asked out of concern.

"It's none of your concern. And do not Mich me." She spoke with a hint of disgust. Michan decided to treat him harshly so as not to think of him. But she was lying to herself. he had managed to corrupt and captivate her thinking.

The wedding went smoothly with a theme colour of white and purple as their reception décor.

"I love it John." She commented on the choice of theme he had made. He knew her best colours so well just as he knew her from the start. He had a question in him about years ago when they first met that he wanted to ask but decided it and mental-noted to ask it later after their honeymoon. "Do you just love it?" he rather asked something else.

"I love you." She said as she knew exactly what he wanted to hear.

The wedding ended pretty well and the newly weds departed to have their honeymoon.

"Not so soon. Honey!" A familiar voice sounded making the smiles to fade away. Melany walked closer to them in steady calculated strides. "Why did I not get an invitation? Don't I deserve one?"

John sighed exasperatedly and walked closer to her. "Wild cats were forgotten on the list so am so sorry. Next time maybe. But there is no next time. So, I guess your presence is highly unappreciated and you should depart. When I still got my smile on."

Melany chuckled wickedly and tried to touch him but he moved away in disgust. "Snakes like you; I cannot allow to touch me. So please crawl away." She felt humiliated as the crowd grew and he was not set on sparing her any face anymore as she had thought. "You can never be happy as long as am alive." She spat venomously and turned to leave but managed to hear his response.

"Even God does not allow venom to stick for long on earth."

He ushered Pranella into the car and they drove to the airport silent through out the way. John could feel her tension so he tried to calm her down a little bit. Ordering the driver to stop by the roadside, he went out as the car came to a halt. She looked at him trying to find out why he moved out. He bought her blueberry flavour ice-cream. She smiled at his gesture and that was enough for him. Her smile was priceless to him.

That same night, Michan returned home with Ginn but she was not well. On reaching, a squeal welcomed them.

"Sis!" it was Ginna. She had come unannounced. Michan reciprocated her hug and chatted with her in forced effort. Ginn sensed her uneasiness unlike Ginna who was so happy to have got a work leave and noticed nothing.

Ginn returned to his bedroom and then it hit again that he was sharing a bedroom with Kristine even though he slept in the coach. He somehow did not like this idea but it was his father's wish.

Kristine stood up from the bed to his surprise and gave him a seductive smile which he replied with a bored smile. She walked to him dressed in a satin mid-thigh cream gown.

"I want us to have fun just like old times." She spoke in a calm seductive tone but he was indifferent to it. She sensed it but assured herself he will give in eventually so she poured him a glass of wine that she had prepared before he came in.

"Won't you join me, Babe?" She pouted but he did not mind. Just to stop the drama that might unfold, he stood up and joined on the table in the bedroom and sipped on the wine. His facial expression changed drastically.

Ginna and Michan had a call for help as they were still chatting. "Isn't that coming from Ginn's room?" They both stood up and rushed to the room. Ginna was shocked to see her brother on the ground gasping for breath. Kristine was crying helplessly as she did not know what had happened and what to do. After taking just one sip from the wine, he had began convulsing and did not stop.

"What happened Witch?" Ginna thundered at Kristine who just shook her head.

"Tell me quick what happened." Kristine was so shocked to say anything. She soon managed to mumble some words. "I did not do anything. I swear I,I."

Michan noticed the wine bottle and picked it from the table. Her eyes widened in shock and she stammered. "Pineapple…wine….pine.." Ginna jolted up and noticed the wine was a pineapple flavoured wine.

"You fool, did you feed him pineapple? Don't you know he is allergic to pineapples?"

Kristine was shocked at Ginna's reverie. She shook her head and tried to defend herself. "I did not know. I wouldn't.." For years of dating she did not mind finding out his likes and dislikes but he did the opposite. Kristine was never in love with him but just wanted fame and money just like her mother.

Michan ran out of the room and shortly came back with something in a bowl in her hands.

"What am I going to do now? Mom is not around and she is the only one with the meds for his attack." Ginna was still wondering in horror when Michan gestured her to lift Ginn to her laps. Ginna placed his head on Michan's laps slowly and she fed him a certain liquid. In a minute's time he began to cool down. On looking around, Michan found that Kristine was not in the room any longer.

"I sent her away. She was useless anyway she will sleep in my room today and I will stay with brother." Michan nodded and they placed his huge frame on the bed. She instructed her to keep dabbing some warm water on his body before departing to her room to get some sleep.

Michan also rested her fragile frame on the black mattress and slipped herself in the grey duvet as soon as she reached her room finally letting her exhausted mind find refuge in the darkness of sleep.

The next morning being a weekend, it was okay to rest but it was abnormal for Michan. She worked even on weekends. Ginna came in her room with breakfast and they chatted. Sleep proved to have calmed her sickness down that Ginna did not sense anything suspicious. Ginna left to meet her other friends as she had few days in the country so she had to make every day count. Kristine had coincidentally gone out because of the shock she experienced the previous night.

The sickness of Michan resumed and this time intense and unfortunately, she could not reach her phone that laid on the side board. At midnight, while the wind was swirling gracefully as though it was making love to the night, a fever was running hotter in Michan's petite body. She kept shivering underneath the duvet while her body kept boiling hot and hotter.

Ginn woke up feeling stressed though he felt better healthwise. He realized recently that he did not want to get divorced but he did not want to tie her to himself by force. Deciding to take water to calm his nerves, he stood up and walked to the kitchen. Gobbling down a glass of water, he retreated to his bedroom but before he could turn the knob and let himself in, he had a ruffled sound of groans.

"It is coming from her bedroom." He spoke to himself and turned swiftly to open the opposite bedroom instead of his. On entering, he realized the ruffled sounds came from his precious Michan. He panicked and approached her checking her temperature by the forehead.

He rushed out fast and returned with a bowl of warm water and a face towel. Dabbing the wet face towel on her forehead, exposed hands and slightly around her neck regions, he tried to reduce her temperature. At some point he felt tempted to caress her soft body but the worry for her health advised him otherwise.

Gradually as it clocked one in the night, her temperature reduced. He tucked the loose strands of her hair behind her ear and kept staring at her pretty face. he could not get enough of her. Her peach lips drew him to her but he resisted; it took every strength he had to resist the urge boiling in his body.

'I want to hold you in my arms.' He thought. His mind was shocked when she answered his thoughts in a whisper audible enough for him. "Do it."
