Chapter 11 - Chapter 10: HATRED

Michan let out a mocking smile and huffed an 'do you call me a fool?' look. She looked away in disbelief. Was this guy serious now? After taking Kristine's side once again? How hilarious of him!

Gin looked at her with his coffee brown orbs in understanding and knew he had hurt her really bad in the past but now he wanted to rectify his past mistakes.

"Forget about your thoughts, sir. We can never be, and you know that, right? I have Davis and you have-"

"I know what you want to say but don't because it's all in the past. And I don't love her. Why don't you believe me that it's you that I like."

"How can I? How can I when you sleep with her in the same room every night? Do you take me for a fool?"

"Bes! Look, yes, we do sleep in the same room but not in the same bed. I sleep on the coach." He almost yelled. All he wanted was her to believe in him.

"First do not call me 'Bes' we are no longer best friends. And next I don't care whether you sleep with her or not just leave me now. Get out! Get out now!" Her heart had flipped on his mention of 'Bes' and she hated it. She was now out of it and she yelled him out of the ward.

Helpless, he stood up lazily and walked out sluggishly. He felt his knees wobbling at her attitude and replies. Maybe she will never learn to love me the way I do, he thought to himself as he exited her ward and met face to face with Danielle. She had heard everything they said as she had come back to ask for the flavour her friend would love to have then. Michan had different preferences at different moods.

"Come with me." Is all she said to him and led the way to the rooftop. She was really furious at him that even her walking proved it.

"What do you think you are doing? You want to ruin her life once again? Are you that selfish? Talk to me! Answer me now." She was thundering at him as she knew that this was to bring pain to her friend. She felt that history was soon going to repeat and even worse and in turn it will be her friend who hurts the most.

"Pal! Believ-"

"Don't call me that we are no longer pals. So, stick to my name hope you didn't forget." She said the last word mockingly.

"Fine, Danie, I-"

"Do not call me that, only close friends do that and you are not even a friend." She emphasized the friend word. Ginn took a deep sigh and told himself inwardly that he deserved whatever was shot towards him.

"Danielle," she interrupted with 'that's it then'. He continued. "Danielle, the truth is that I did not lie because I truly love her and that is not going to change any time soon. I am going to do everything to prove you that am true to my word. She looked at him debatingly and finally decided what she would do silently.

Danielle walked away from him and before she exited completely out of the steel door, she echoed a statement. "Do not bother because it's useless. You can never be as long as you still have trust issues." With that, she was completely out of the place. He sighed a heavy sigh as though he was from the court room. What was he going to do to prove his love to them? He wondered to no one in particular.

"How could he say that to me? Is he crazy? After all he did to me?" her inner self was in turmoil. Just as she was still fuming, the door opened. She was about to thrash whoever entered until she realized it was Davis.

"Hey love, are you okay?" he looked at her with a slight frown. She nodded and fixed her hair. She tried calming herself down as she realized he was going to see through her soon. They spoke for some time and she spaced out thinking of what he did not even guess. He looked at her with a disappointed gaze. Every single day proved more distance between them. Was it the right decision to let her get married to Ginn? It proved to be a mistake he will forever regret.

She gradually realized her action and coughed awkwardly to lighten the mood but nothing changed. She tried to begin another conversation but he did not answer as he contemplated on what to do; should he ask her if she still loves him or not? Just as he was still wondering, she crushed her lips on his. His eyes grew in shock, what had she just done. He reciprocated the kiss and let himself dwell in the moment. Maybe he was wrong, he thought to himself.

Just as he was going back on his thoughts, he had a cough behind them but did not care just as she pulled him closer not realizing him from the kiss. But the cough grew louder in attempt to stop them. He broke the kiss as his mind screamed that something was exactly wrong. On turning, his heart sank automatically. Ginn was standing there with his hands hidden behind him.

"I think you two should know that this is a hospital and the doctor can walk in anytime. Can't you wait to get yourselves a hotel room?" He spoke in a calm tone trying to conceal his anger and frustration.

"And one should tell you that this is a private ward. Making it better you said what if the doctor came in but you are not a doctor so why care?" Davis remained silent.

Ginn chuckled slightly and nodded his head in understanding. "So, was that the mailing? Sorry it has been trashed." He spoke and she got shocked. 'He still remembers our code talk?'

"No, you are wrong. Why would it be a mailing and especially to the respondent." She paused and finally pooled enough courage to send him away. She felt her heart beat become rapid. "Oh, wait. Didn't I tell you to leave."

He frowned. "You told me to get out."

"I meant leave the hospital."

"How can I leave you alone?"

"Am not alone. I have Davis. Leave, go, go back home to Kristine. I don't need you here." She forced herself to say hurtful words to him.

Ginn felt his legs going numb but he forced himself to turn away and walk out the door. Davis who was silent throughout their conversation, finally spoke turning his depressed self to look at her.

"So, was that it?" she was now confused. "You used me to irritate him and make him jealous? That's why I did not feel any emotions in your kiss." A pang of guilt befell her. She shook her head but he was not convinced.

"Honey, why don't you want Michan to love Ginn? After all he was just blind before. If he really loves her then give him a chance. In fact, let Michan chose."

"No! I won't." just as they were still arguing, the ward door opened revealing the depressed Ginn.

"You why do you look like that?" Danielle could not help but ask. Ginn just handed her a plastic bag and said in a ragged tone. "You were right. I'm just wasting time. Is this how one-sided love hurts?" Danielle wryly smiled at that as she remembered her one-sided love in college. You now know how it hurts; she thought to herself.

He looked at them and asked, have you ever experienced this?" 'Yes,' Danielle thought to herself, 'with you'. He sighed retreatingly and said, "Give that to her."

"Then why didn't you-". Before she completed her query. He walked away like a lifeless body dragging away his legs with all his whole being.

Danielle glanced at Christoff who just shrugged his shoulders. They stepped in and realized the room atmosphere was tense.

Before they asked anything, Davis stood up and flounced out. He felt so jealous and broken. Michan looked down in total guilt. She was unknowingly hurting him.

"Friend, what's up with him? What happened here? Everyone who gets out of here is looking ragged. Is a tornado driving in here?" Danielle asked.

Michan stammered as she answered. "I did not attend to hurt him. I wanted to drive Ginn away. That's all." Danielle understood what was going on. The next moment, she became furious and began reasoning with Michan.

"What! Do not tell me you are in love with Ginn?" she was now yelling. "How many times do you want to get hurt? Davis has been nothing but good and loving to you. Why can't you just learn to love this perfect guy at your service?" Michan remained silent in search of an answer but her mind was betrayingly blank.

Danielle walked out still furious at her friend after literally throwing whatever Ginn had bought to Michan's hospital bed. Christoff looked at Michan pitifully. "I hope you understand she wants the best for you, okay?" she nodded in affirmation. She knew how much Danielle cared for her.

Christoff spoke in a low but audible tone. "It is up to you to let your mind win or your heart."

"Why don't all of you understand that all I have for him is hatred. I hate Ginn. Okay?" she looked away as she cannot lie to someone's face. He knew this hence his suspicion was proved, "She loved Ginn."

"Sometimes too much hatred can be translated into too much love." With that, he walked out to go find Danielle.

Michan let out a frustrated groan and said to herself in a convincing tone. "It is just hatred. Yes, that's what it is."

...

Speaking of hatred, Krtistine was seated on her bed dressed in her bodycon pink dress as she thought to herself to God knows what. She sighed satisfied with her plan. "My father's daughter, wait and see as I trap you and bind you. This time you can't escape."

Can one lie to him/herself?
