Ginn drove home at a steady speed with an ocean of emotions swirling in his mind. He was so sure of his love for her. No one else mattered and he had to make that officially known to everybody.
His entry into the house was quite unrealized until his mother, Lilian called out to him. She walked to him dressed in her usual floral apron.
"Ginn! How is she? Where is she?" She asked while looking around to spot her target but she was nowhere to be seen. Without even saying her name, Ginn had understood who she was exactly asking about. Sighing heavily, he alerted her of her not yet better condition and was still under monitoring. He however assured her that she was being taken care of by her friends and doctors. Nothing was to bring any concern for now.
She relaxed a bit on knowing that Michan was now conscious at least but her heart was still not calm as Michan was still in the hospital.
Lilian somehow managed to see through her son's wall from pain that he had managed to mask with an expressionless facial expression. Something was hidden in all he had said. Asking him directly would seem not productive for now, she thought, so I will just distract him and make him speak without knowing.
"Son, care to help me prepare some of her best snacks?" He of course agreed and followed her to the kitchen where they settled on the stone kitchen tables and began kneading the needed dough and preparing the necessary ingredients as well. Michan was a fun of gluten foods so most of the snacks were to be made from wheat flour.
"So, did you tell her?" Lilian asked casually as one would when was having a conversation for a long time now. This was to trick Ginn in answering unhesitant.
"Yes, but she does not feel the same way." After completing the sentence, he realized she had got the words out of him that he did not want to share with anyone for then. He raised his face to look at his cunning mother who was now holding a saddened face for the news he had just released. She walked closer to him sitting beside him with a hand over his shoulders. She offered him a smile to make him comfortable giving him room to let out everything else.
"Mom, I love her I swear and have no intention to hurt her but she does not believe a word I say and keeps rubbing it in my face how much she treasured Davis over me. Mom, it hurts." Lilian listened and patted his back in understanding. He was really hurt by the sight of them kissing. He felt like dragging Davis out of her room and box the life out of him but he could not. If Davis makes her happy he will let her be even though it hurts.
"But why doesn't she love me?" He asked with a pained facial expression. At that time, Kristine stepped into their presence hearing the question he just asked.
"Danielle, look! She needs your understanding and direction not your tantrums. Will you now stop acting childish as though she is in love with a monster or your boyfriend and walk back in to soothe her confusion and help her make the right decision." Christoff shouted at her with a serious expression. She could not believe that he would shout at her like that.
She looked at him in disbelief and remained rooted to the ground. He looked at her and realized how shocked he had made her become. He heaved a heavy sigh and walked to her slowly drawing her into his embrace. He whispered to her how much he loved her while pecking her head. Leading her to a wooden block nearby, they sat while the rooftop breeze swept over them.
"I am sorry for-"
She stopped him and informed him that she understood what he meant and why he did it. Kissing him lightly, she thanked him and walked away back to Michan's ward after hugging him once again. They had a mutual understanding that was beyond words. Neither of them would let the other do an obvious regret.
"Ginna! What are you doing here?" Michan was purely glad to see Ginna in this time of her turmoil. She was beginning to think she was going crazy as everyone had left her alone in the ward in a fit of anger.
"Mom, I need to take Kristine away from here for Mich's sake that's why I had to lie to her that she is the one I was referring to in the kitchen earlier. I do not know what to do, I have to take her away fast before she (Michan) is back from the hospital." Ginn spoke to his mother to find a plan together. His mother sipped on her hot coffee in the mug from her round bedroom coach-table. The interior of the bedroom was elegant with royal blue and purple themes. It gave off a feeling of royalty and wealth.
Before his mother could give him a full plan, his phone rang puling his attention to it as it revealed the caller ID as Michan's hospital. He panicked involuntarily and answered it to find out what they wanted to tell him.
The doctor called him to have a face-to-face talk as it was important he received the information face to face with the doctor for more clarity. Ginn alerted his mother and made haste to his car in the parking lot driving away his Range Rover at a break neck speed.
After returning from the doctor's office, the information he was given kept ringing in his head numbing every single cell and nerve that resided in his body. He shook his head in denial at occasions trying to brush off the truth that the doctor had told him. Without knowing, he was entering Michan's ward. Closing the door behind him, he neared to the sleeping Michan staring at her with complete worry in his coffee orbs. She stirred from her sleep and faced him. She looked at him and a wry smile crept on her lips in a smirk.
"Why are you here? I thought you won't come back." She spoke casually. He did not answer instead bent closer to her and kissed her. She did not push him away, to his surprise. He pulled away and looked in her eyes lovingly. He almost whispered.
"I do not want to lose you. I will save you." He paused and glanced at her lips for some milliseconds and continued. "You know why I came back, it's because you keep puling me to you." He once again claimed her lips and she tried to push him away but not strongly. To her own surprise, her hands changed from pushing him, to snaking onto his neck savoring the moment. He deepened it and they were now lost in it when a knock on the door interrupted them. Letting go of each other, the door opened and a shy look crept onto Michan's face causing her to develop a reddish shade on her cheeks.
Danielle looked at both of them scrutinizing them clearly trying to make out what they were doing but she could not tell. Ginn looked at Michan one final time and walked away out of the room. She could not explain anyone how she was feeling but when he stepped out and closed the door. A yearning developed in the pit of her stomach and whole body; she could not describe the yearning.
Danielle looked at her friend and sensed something was off somehow but did not push to ask. She smiled at her friend and informed her that she would be discharged the next day. Michan was glad to be able to return home. She felt home with Lilian and Ginna. How they dotted on her!
Michan stepped into the beautiful mansion and saw the cheerful faces welcoming her but one. Where was he, she could not stop wondering. He had told her he loved her but where was he when she was being discharged. She frowned slightly but regained her composure and tried being happy with those around but her frown did not escape Danielle who had escorted her back.
"Mother, is Ginn around?" she finally asked as her patience ran out. Lilian and Ginna looked at each other in confusion of what to say.
"Tell me!" she coaxed them as they delayed answering. Finally agreeing with their eyes, Lilian looked at her and smiled a toothless smile. "He has gone for a business trip and won't be around for about five days. He took Kristine with him so she won't be a problem to you." Michan tried to keep her smile on but it was hopeless.
Allowing herself to stay with them ten more minutes, she finally excused herself in reason to rest but she was feeling restless that she was not to see him for five days.
"He is going to miss my Birthday." She pouted angrily and covered herself to sleep. Among the five days, her birthday was on the fourth.
"It's time I tell Kristine I do not love her." Ginn thought out loud. On looking in the mirror, he saw Kristine looking at him through the reflection.
