The air in the storage shed felt heavy, charged with tension that hung between us like an unspoken truth. My breaths came fast, my chest heaving from the mad dash through the forest. Julian stood over Marcus's lifeless body, his fists clenched so tightly his knuckles turned white. Jasper leaned against the wooden wall, his expression grim, while I knelt next to Marcus, my mind racing.

"This doesn't make sense," I murmured, my voice trembling. "Marcus has been with you for years, Julian. Why would he betray us now?"

Julian's jaw tightened, his eyes narrowing as he looked at Marcus's lifeless face. "Because loyalty means nothing when the right price is offered."

Jasper scoffed from behind him. "I warned you. I told you there was a mole."

Julian spun around, his eyes flashing with anger. "And I'm supposed to believe you, the man who's been lying to us from the start?"
