The air in the room was strained; thick with unspoken words and dense with heavy emotion. Skylar paced up and down, her fingers clutched tight over her phone, which dimly lit her shaking hands. Julian leaned his weight against the wall, arms crossed, his eyes narrowed while Jasper sprawled on the couch-casual in pose, but his eyes were wide with awareness.
Skylar stopped mid-step and swung to them, her voice barely above a whisper. "I can't believe this. Elena was spying on us the whole time."
Julian's voice remained even, but it had an edge. "She might have been coerced, Skylar. You have to take that into consideration. She wouldn't have done such a thing to you under her own free will.
Jasper snorted, pushing himself off the couch. "Coerced or not, she still put you and the twins in danger. Are we just supposed to forget that?"
