Chapter 36 - Someone In The Family

Celeste tried to yank her hand away from my grip but I wasn't having it. She tugged harder, trying to free herself from my iron grip clutch. When she saw I wasn't letting go, she glared at me. "Let me go this instant."

"Only if you swear not to touch the boy." I informed her.

Celeste rolled her eyes, "No, he is a mere servant that's what he is."

"What he is, is actually human, not someone for you to pass your aggression on!" I threw at her.

Celeste opened her mouth to speak but I let go of her, then turned to the boy. "Someone get him out of here, and make sure he has a proper bed rest." I ordered the rest of the servants who immediately began to do my bidding.

"He is not going anywhere!" Adrianna suddenly said blocking his path.

I turned to look at Adrianna, not surprised she would chime in to this and I was just about to give her a taste of her own medicine when Killian grabbed me firmly on my wrist. I saw him shake his head subtly at me before he stepped forward with a smile on his face.

"How about we go away for a while Adrianna, and let these women handle it?" Killian said and Adrianna look like she was about to protest but Killian wasn't having it. He grabbed her gently and led her away.

The rest of the servants also turned to take their leave and eventually it remained just me and Celeste and she looked even angrier now. Great, just when I thought I could avoid drama! I muse dryly as I stared back at her with a menacing look.

"What is your problem?" She suddenly yelled at me.

"My problem?" I asked scoffing in disbelief, "What is your problem?"

It was Celeste's turn to scoff at me, "I do not have a problem, but apparently you do. Ever since I stepped foot in this place, you've had issues with me. Not acknowledging me, only looking at me when I do something and it's not even to correct me, it's to make yourself feel even better."

Oh gods above give me patience to be able to do with this. "Listen Cleste_" I said trying my best to remain calm despite what I was feeling on the inside, "I apologize if I ever made you feel that way but the things you do, I mean slapping that servant for just spilling a mere drink on you. You have to admit it's a little bit excessive and doesn't exactly paint you in the best light."

"So is that what gives you the right to judge me?" Celeste asked and I frowned at her, "I see you walking up and down, reveling in the little attention you've gotten from Reagan_"

"My lord."

Celeste arched a brow up at me, "What did you say?"

I took a step closer towards her, "You will address him as my lord and not by his name, you do not have the right to that just as you do not have the right to challenge me." I said taking another step forward, "And one more thing, those mere servants are my servants, not yours, they answer to me, not to you! Remember that the next time you decide to cause such drama!" I hissed at her before I decided to leave.

"You will regret this!" Celeste yelled at me and I turned only to see angry tears rolling down her cheeks. "Mark my words princess, you will regret this one way or another!"

I arched a brow up at her, "Is that a threat?"

Celeste laughed, the sound empty and without humor. "Oh no, I do not dare, I'm just making you a promise, your highness." Celeste informed me with a stiff bow before she left.

I was left standing alone, staring after her retreating figure with narrowed eyes. The words she said echoed in my mind, she had claimed it wasn't a threat but a promise but from the sharp edge she said in her tone and the way she glared at me, I could tell there was malicious intent in those words she spoke.

If that wasn't a threat, then I don't know what is! I thought to myself as I continued to stare at her. Heather came to join me, standing right next to me with a wary look on her face.

"Well, I suppose that went well." Heather said and I turned to arch a brow up at her, "I'm just saying it could have been worse but thank the gods it wasn't."

Nodding my head, I turned to stare back at Celeste. "Yeah, thank the gods."

"I'd be wary of that one though," Heather warned, "She looks like the kind to take what she wants, maybe not directly but through devious means and we all know what she wants." Heather turned to give me a pointed stare.

Heaving out a sigh, I raked a hand through my hair "I wish I could have punched her in the face, or hit something though!" I said with a groan.

"I might have someone for you to hit." Heather said and I turned to look at her in question, "Well maybe not you exactly, but you know the other you." She added her voice dropping to a whisper.

I immediately became alert at that, "What's going on?"

Heather started walking and I followed after her, "It's due to the heavy taxes imposed on your father_" She said pausing to give me a look, no doubt trying to gauge my reaction but I just kept on walking so she continued. "Lord Skarde is in charge of it, but he is collecting more than he is supposed to. The normal tax is killing us and now he is adding his own charges and anyone who don't get paid, he finds some other way to collect payment from them.

Lord Skarde, why on earth does that name sound so familiar?

Something tells me I didn't know what it was but I asked either way, "How?"

Heather looked around before she let her voice drop to a whisper. "It would best if we find somewhere more secure, so we can speak freely. It wouldn't be wise to talk outside, not especially when Lord Skarde is a member of this household and also…."

"Reagan's uncle!" I finished suddenly realizing why his name sounded familiar.
