Rowan Agoul sat on the couch his tears finally drying as he decided to sit himself up. Half of him had wanted to go to the capital with the rest of the [Hero's Party] but the other half of his heart was happy he'd handled his endeavors. The act of shedding tears may have been perilous for a man but it was an act Rowan Agoul indulged in nonetheless. In fact the being known as Rowan Agoul part took in that fairly often maybe even more than his female-counterparts who'd generationally been believed to be more emotional. On that topic alone if one were to do a study and included the man [Rowan Agoul] in their method I'm sure his results alone would change the tide of a generational presumption.
That was simply how much he'd found himself crying lately though no memory he'd found in the crevices of his mind compared to this. The heart was the basis of the human body while one might say it's the brain the heart drives every action, every thought we have. The brain simply processes what the heart sends to it, and filters it through emotions and logistics which lead to practical approaches. Though this doesn't change where the order initially comes from. Rowan Agoul knew this all too well as his heart had taken him captive and spun him along for the ride.
"Damn it, how long are you gonna sit here crying Rowan?! Get up and do something!"
He'd hurled words of contempt at himself forcing himself to rise out of the couch as he did. This was simply the only way to pull himself together a way in which Rowan Agoul had had much practice.
"Since the others are gone the least I can do is be productive! Woah!"
He'd popped up of the couch as his foot almost slipped off something shiny, he'd barely managed to catch himself and narrowly avoided having a spill that would've nicely damaged his face. Now it wasn't as if Rowan Agoul was a overly handsome man but he was bad looking by no means—-rather one could surmise it wasn't his looks that lead to Elara's rejection of him. While this was due to the man's appearance itself it was also due to the [Hero] Elara, who steered clear of making decisions simply based off looks. Though this doesn't imply she'd rejected him specifically for his personality either, because in truth there was a magnitude of reasons for it that Rowan could only guess at.
"Come to think of it the others left their weapons here, are they expecting me to bring them? I am [Weapon Holder] after all."
"—-Hk!"
He'd let out that sound as he'd realized the gravity of what bringing them there meant. Or more so who'd he'd have to face had he decided to uphold his job regarding being the [Weapon Holder] of the [Hero's Party.] He'd thought about that beautiful white hair which smelled like flowers and freshly baked bread. And that terribly innocent laugh that could only belong to Elara Fey, her smile complimenting that laugh with a warmness that permeated its surroundings. And those eyes—-ocean-blue always staring at Rowan as she moved her slender body, crossing her arms.
"But if I go that means I'd have to see..."
The boy shook his head denying the thoughts that threatened him.
"No! Don't think about that! If [The Hero's Party] has left their weapons then it falls on the [Weapon Holder] to bring them to them in times of need! After all you never know what might happen!"
"Right! I'll bring them their weapons and be in and out! That way I won't have to see Elara and I'll fulfill my job! Yeah it's full proof! Rowan Agoul is back business baby!"
In truth most of this energy was just a guise, Rowan knew the feelings he'd harbored right now wouldn't go away so easily. He'd be lying if he'd said focusing on his work didn't help him cope even if it was just the work of a [Weapon Holder.] Perhaps this played into the man's view of himself which was a point he scarely pondered. He mostly wondered what do people make of the man named Rowan Agoul? And his position in the [Hero's Party?] That was what rang out in Rowan Agoul's thoughts for as long as he remembered. Now was no exception as that question even lingered a bit more than it had previously. The question of what do people truly think of Rowan Agoul? Suddenly a knock bounces off the walls of the cabin catching the attention of Rowan.
"Huh? Who could that be?"
Rowan calmed his heart and turned his attention to the door which undoubtedly had someone standing on the other side. Though who this person was wasn't something Rowan could see himself answering. He'd quickly fixed up the mess he'd made across the cabin and quietly walked over to the door. When'd he fixed his hands to open it though in an unexpected twist of fate the door swung open. It smacked Rowan in the face but his eyes had opened in time to see the perpetrator was none other than...
Mika: "Yo Rowan! I came back to surprise you and bought you some sweets from yours truly! I know, I know I'm the greatest friend ever! Huh? What are you doing on the ground?"
Rowan: "You smacked me with the door you freak! Who opens the door before somebody can let them in?!"
Mika: "Sorry sorry! I just couldn't help myself! Here have some sweets okay?!"
Rowan: "Like hell that'll make it better!"
———————————————-——————————————————-
Rowan: "Man you really hurt my face, how am I ever gonna show myself at the capital now!?"
Mika: "Oh cheer up I brought you these sweets didn't I? That should make up for it!"
Rowan: "Shouldn't I be the one deciding that?!"
At her proclamation it was here one could say the true nature of the relationship between the [Arch Priest] and the [Weapon Holder] no——-between Rowan Agoul and Mika Faelan was shown. One could easily mistake their relationship to be something of a teasing one, though there's more to it than that assessment. That wasn't to say Rowan Agoul felt as if if Mika was his closest friend or anything,on the contrary she was just his friend. And by all accounts Rowan Agoul was only that as well, though perhaps the strengthening of their relationship came from one person in particular, [Elara Fey] who sat dearly in both their hearts.
Rowan: "Anyways what are you doing here? I thought you guys were headed to the capital, did something happen or did you just come back to tease me some more!?"
Mika: "Well, while teasing you would be enticing, I honestly came back to check on you the others guys were worried so they sent me back to see what was up!"
Regarding the relationship between [Rowan Agoul] and [Mika Faelan] there was one facet that had grown due to their constant shared days together. One could say this was something Rowan and Mika had acquired over the course of their many adventures together, but in truth it could be something the rest of the party members could get or anyone who spends a large amount of time together could acquire. That was the ability to see when one was lying, in Mika's case she'd flash a big smile one that while having her usual enthusiasm had a hint of an act in it. One could say it wasn't due to Rowan being special that he'd been able to tell that big grin had been fake. But this was something only [Rowan Agoul] could see in [Mika Faelan] simply because he'd known what it was like to fake a smile.
Rowan: "I see, so you bought me these sweets? I gotta say that's pretty nice of you I could eat a whole bowl of these by myself."
Rowan stomached the sweets eating them as if they were going to disappear out of the basket.
Mika:"Actually no those are from Elara!"
Rowan: "Pft!!!"
Mika smiled with a great big grin that had real joy inside of it as Rowan spit out the sweets. Needless to say the fake properties in her smile had dissipated and it now seemed that
She was back to her old self, indeed this was the relationship between Rowan Agoul and Mika Faelan.
Rowan: "You didn't think to tell me that before I ate them?! What the heck is wrong with you!?"
Mika: "If I told you who they were from you wouldn't have ate them, wouldn't that have been bad?"
Rowan:"Yes! But considering the circumstances you should've at least given me a heads up!"
Mika:"My bad!"
The green-haired girl stuck out her tongue and giggled.
Rowan:"You're completely hopeless."
It wasn't a lot but little by little the [Weapon Holder] felt something of a solid foundation being built beneath him. No——the man named [Rowan Agoul] had felt the presence of something being built in his spirit. It was a small thing of course, barely anything of reassurance, but it was there. And for the average guy known as [Rowan Agoul] that was enough. Rowan finally smiled—-a genuine one at the [Arch Priest] Mika Faelan who gave him something of a genuine smile as well as his body floated a little higher off of the couch's cushions.
Mika: "Anyways did I hear you mention the capital? Did you finally work up the courage to go?"
Rowan: "I wouldn't say that exactly, it just that everyone left their weapons so I have to go. Though I'd be lying if I said I didn't want to go."
Mika: "Huh?"
Rowan: "I want to properly watch the results of our party's efforts, I am the party's [Weapon Holder] after all."
Mika:"Ahh…"
This. This was a quality the man known as [Rowan Agoul] had acquired in spades within his travels with the [Hero's Party.] Now by all means it wasn't anything special—-but it was something so evident in this man that it was hard to ignore. It was a quality that was simple yet something anyone aspiring to be great needed to have. By no means was Rowan Agoul a great and powerful man, but this was something any man that looked at him would be sure the [Weapon Holder] Rowan Agoul carried within his heart. and that was the unyielding ability to piss off adversity with so much persisting annoyance that even it would steer clear of the man named [Rowan Agoul.]
Mika: "hmm...…i wonder will you keep that attitude when you see Elara though?"
Rowan: "And you just hand to remind of that! Maybe I should just stay here!"
Mika: "No, regardless of that you should be there with us once it's done. You're a part of our party after all."
Mika flashed a giant grin and her fiery orange eyes softened a bit holding something inside of them Rowan had needed all to well. The friendship of Mika Faelan.
Rowan: "Right."
Rowan smiled.
Mika: "Now come on i got us an escort! we'll be just in time to see Elara get hitched to the prince!"
Rowan: "Andddd just like that I'm already nervous again."
Mika: "Oh cheer up, I'm just joking! And I'm sure you'll get married one day!"
Rowan:"Yeah, that's not really what I was worried about."
As the pair left Rowan flashed a smile and though he didn't know it yet, this smile had shed something inside of him. Something small——and a small part of the bigger issue itself. It surely wasn't anything significant——although it could have been, but it was simply a small drop in the long process the [Weapon Holder] known as Rowan Agoul would have to go through.
In that smile, the aftertaste of rejection——albeit small. Had started to fade, leaving the heart of Rowan Agoul.
