Worry was all over Harmony"s face when she heard her mother"s question.
This was what she was thinking the moment that she saw her calling.
She bit her lower lip and she didn"t know what to say.
"Are you still there? Why couldn"t you answer my question?" Her mother asked again. She knew that she was just trying to control her temper.
She took a deep breath and she looked at Drake sharply.
The man shrugged his shoulders while lifted his hands and his palm facing upward.
She shook her head.
"Yes, mam. I am with a man but don"t think anything. He is just a friend. He just needs company so I am with him right," she said.
"God, Harmony. Since when are you comforting a man?" Her mother said in a sarcastic tone.
She closed her eyes and wiped one of her hands in her face. She couldn"t believe what her mother was saying but she knew that she couldn"t blame her.
She"s a woman and she was with a man. What else should they think about?
"This is all your fault," she said to Drake without a voice.
The man scratched his head.
"Why me? What did I do?" He whispered.
Harmony just shook her head again.
"Harmony?" Her mother called her attention.
"Mo—"
"Hi, Ma"am. I am Drake Villarama and I am the man that Harmony is with at the moment. Please don"t worry about her. I will be dropping her right in front of your door. I am sorry if I am unable to tell you that we are going on a date," Drake said which made her eyes widened.
God. What was he thinking?
She signaled him to put the phone in speaker mode so she could hear their conversation.
"Wait? Villarama? You said your name is Drake Villarama?" Her mother was full of surprise.
Her eyebrows were drawn together because it sounded like her mother knew Drake.
"Yes, ma"am," Drake said and then smiled at her.
She couldn"t believe this man. It seemed that he was going to use his last name to get approval from her mom.
"Oh, sir Drake. This is Harmony"s mom. I don"t know if you still remember me but I am Catalina. The tour guide who assisted you when you visited Italy a couple of years ago," her mom said, which made her dumbfounded.
Her jaw dropped.
"Oh, Ms. Catalina. So, Harmony is your daughter? You have a kind-hearted daughter, ma"am," Drake said and then looked at her.
She was the total opposite of her mom"s reaction. It seemed that the two people knew each other after all."Thank you, Sir. I will just wait for Harmony to go home. I am sorry to bother you, sir," her mother said and then the call ended.
She was shocked. She didn"t know what to say.
"Are you okay?" Drake said and then he was handing her phone to her.
She took it from him and then put it back in her bag.
"What happened there? Did you know my mother?" She said in shock.
"Yes, I think so. I know Ms. Catalina became our tour guide when I went to Italy a couple of years ago for the first time. She had been very helpful and kind to me so I couldn"t forget her," Drake answered to her.
She just nodded.
"I didn"t have any idea that she was working as a tour guide," she uttered without knowing.
She knew that her mother was working as an English teacher in Italy but she never thought that she was a tour guide. She never mentioned it to her.
But why?
"Oh, yes. I think she just did it as a part time job and she was really an English teacher back then. I guessed you are her daughter that she told me about while we were walking in places. She"s so proud of you, Harmony," Drake said and she didn"t know what to say.
"I am sorry. I am just shocked. I didn"t expect that you would know my mother," she said.
"What a small world, right?" Drake said which made her nod.
She felt like she had swallowed her tongue because of the sudden turn of events. By how her mother sounded, it seemed that she knew Drake and she trusted him for allowing her to be with the man.
"Hey, it"s okay. That should not be a big deal, okay?" Drake said. "Let"s continue walking and enjoy the beauty of the place."She smiled and then walked with him again.
Drake was right. It was not everyday that she would be given a chance to walk in a place like this. She was thankful that Drake had brought her here. With her broken heart, she knew that she needed this kind of place.
She couldn"t help but wonder though why all of a sudden, she couldn"t feel any hurt inside her heart because of what happened to her and Paul.
She just realized that since she was with Drake, Paul went away from her mind.
"We are almost near. I really hope that we will like the food. This restaurant was given a five star with all the comments that I have read," Drake said which made her smile.
It seemed he really did research before booking at this place and she couldn"t help but feel impressed.
He had a great taste for a dinner date.
"Ahm... Drake," she called his name.
Drake was still holding her hand and her heartbeat never changed since earlier. She didn"t know why but she never felt this way before.
"Yes," the man said and then he looked at her. "Do we really need to do this every now and then?" She couldn"t help but ask the man.
Drake nodded. But what did he mean t by that? Did his heart also beat the way that her heart was beating?
"Yes, we have to until my inheritance is transferred in my name."
