"I don't know, maybe it's just because I'm too poor, and they despise poor people!" Wu Fan answered honestly.
"Poverty is indeed an important reason, but it might not be the only one. Haven't you thought about any other reasons?" Lin Yin asked.
"I can't think of anything else!" Wu Fan shook his head.
He was genuinely confused; Lin Miao barely acknowledged him at home. They rarely spoke, and when they did, she maintained an air of superiority. What kind of relationship could that foster?
"Have you ever noticed that your marriage to my sister seems strange?" Lin Yin asked earnestly.
"Yes, that's true. I even asked her why she chose a farmer like me as her husband when the Lin family is so prestigious and she had many wealthy suitors available. But she never gave me a clear answer!" Wu Fan admitted his doubts.
"Brother-in-law, don't tell anyone I said this, but I heard that my sister is already in a relationship with someone else and is pregnant. The high society knows about it. A pregnancy before marriage is seen as a huge scandal, and she's viewed as a woman with a tarnished reputation. No wealthy man would want her. To save face, they had to quickly find a farmer to cover up the rumors. This way, they can claim the child is yours and not the result of a premarital affair!"
"What?" Wu Fan was stunned by Lin Yin's revelations.
As shocking as it was, it explained why Lin Miao refused to let him get close to her and constantly talked about the pregnancy and protecting the child. It was actually someone else's child.
The news hit him like a thunderbolt, leaving him completely speechless.
"Haha, I'm so exhausted; there's so much work at the office these days!" Lin Miao's voice suddenly echoed in the room.
"My mom and sister are back!" Lin Yin, startled, quickly turned to leave.
But in her haste, she slipped and fell hard.
Wu Fan, standing directly in front of her, instinctively opened his arms to catch her.
Lin Yin landed in his arms, blushing deeply, and softly murmured, "Thank you, brother-in-law!"
"You filthy animal, how dare you make a move on Lin Yin!" At that moment, Hu Xiaoying and her daughter Lin Miao appeared at the door and saw the scene.
Both women immediately started yelling and beating Wu Fan at the same time.

Two bodyguards rushed in to separate Lin Yin and dragged her out of the room.
