Chapter 8
"Yes!" The two henchmen immediately left.
Meanwhile, Lin Miao, furious, headed towards the school.
As she approached the windows, the students noticed a foreign woman and wondered who this beautiful woman could be.
Lin Miao signaled to Lin Yin, who had to leave the classroom.
"What do you want? I'm in class!" Lin Yin, visibly annoyed, looked at her sister as if accusing her of interrupting her studies.
"Come with me!" Lin Miao dragged Lin Yin to a secluded spot and, staring at her coldly, asked, "Tell me, did you say anything to that good-for-nothing?"
"What are you talking about? I talked about many things with him!" Lin Yin pretended not to understand.
"He says there are rumors about a dubious relationship with someone and that I might have been pregnant before the marriage. You're the only one close to him. Did you tell him that?" Lin Miao was furious.
She wanted to shout, but feared others might hear.
"To keep a secret from being uncovered, one must do nothing to expose it. No wall is impenetrable!" Lin Yin didn't respond directly.
"So, you admit it was you! Lin Yin, you have no sense of family! I had to involve others to hide my pregnancy for the sake of family business, and to preserve the family's reputation, I had to find a fool to cover it all up. And you revealed everything! You have no loyalty to the family!" Lin Miao accused her.
"It doesn't change the fact that you're married now, and pregnant. You make him sleep on the floor without ever touching him. It's cruel, and you all despise him every day. Why not just give him money for a divorce and let him move on with his life?" Lin Yin spoke seriously.
"Fine, I know how to handle my affairs. You, as a student, focus on your studies. Don't talk about this to anyone else, and if anyone asks, tell them it's all lies!" Lin Miao lightly tapped her sister on the forehead before leaving, still furious.
"Pff, my brother-in-law may be poor, but he's far better than you! You're an unfaithful woman, behaving poorly on the outside, and yet pretending to do everything for the family! Bah!" Lin Yin cursed her sister inwardly before returning to class.
Wu Fan, sincerely believing that Lin Miao and the man in the checkered shirt were just discussing business at the hotel, paid it no further attention.
He continued doing the household chores, taking care of the family, and fulfilling his role as son-in-law.
One day, as he was returning from the market with vegetables, he noticed a familiar figure walking in front of the Lin family villa, looking inside, rubbing their hands, and shaking their head with a sigh.
"Mom, Mom, what are you doing here?" Wu Fan ran toward her, dropping the vegetables and taking her hands with emotion, his heart aching.
Although the family was poor, his mother had always kept the house clean and tidy, and she herself had always been well-groomed.
But now, she looked exhausted, with a vacant stare, messy hair, and torn clothes, almost unrecognizable compared to before.
"You... you're Wu Fan?" Meng Jiangmei looked at him with misty eyes.
"Yes, Mom, don't you recognize me?" Wu Fan was upset, wondering if his mother had lost her mind.
"Oh, I vaguely remember. Yes, Wu Fan, I came to tell you I found your father!"
"Really? Where is he?" Wu Fan lit up, forgetting all his worries.
"He's drinking with the Jade Emperor. I came to warn you. I'll find him. Take care of yourself. We'll meet again in heaven. Goodbye!" Meng Jiangmei turned around and walked away.
