Chapter 7
After half an hour, the two people emerged from the hotel, still slightly tipsy.
"Darling, you... you..." Wu Fan shouted, furious as he saw them.
No man can endure such public humiliation.
"What are you doing here, you good-for-nothing? All you do is the cleaning. I handle the business. We were just discussing business. Don't think dirty thoughts. You're just a good-for-nothing, and all you do is think with your head! Go home and do the laundry!" Lin Miao retorted angrily.
"Was it really business?" Wu Fan was skeptical, Lin Yin's words echoing in his mind.
"Or what?" replied the tall man who had been accompanying them, casting a threatening look at Wu Fan.
"Lin Miao, I heard rumors that you've been having suspicious relations with someone, and that you might already be pregnant before the marriage!" Unable to hold back anymore, Wu Fan revealed what he had heard.
Lin Miao seemed electrified, slightly staggering.
But she shook her head and, with a hurt tone, said, "Wu Fan, who is the idiot spreading these lies? You know our competitors love to sow discord to distract us from business. They spread all sorts of slanders about me. On the morning of the second day after our wedding, you saw the sheets. How could you believe rumors over your own wife?"
"You disappoint me so much. I didn't complain about you being a poor farmer and me spending fifty thousand on treating your father. You're not even grateful, and now, after a month of marriage, you suspect me? I heard you were a broke online novel writer before, did that upset you? What a shame!"
Lin Miao's eyes were red, showing apparent sincerity.
Had he really misjudged Lin Yin? Or were his sources wrong?
Treating his wife like this was beneath any man. While she worked hard, he accused her of infidelity.
Wu Fan lowered his head, filled with remorse.
"Fine, go home and clean. In a few months, when my belly is nice and round, I'll stay at home and keep you company every day!" Lin Miao, seemingly calmed down, motioned for Wu Fan to leave.
Once Wu Fan was gone, Lin Miao murmured, angrily, "I spent 45,000 dollars to keep my pregnancy secret before the marriage, but who the hell revealed it?"
She then thought of Lin Yin, who had been with Wu Fan, wondering if it was she who leaked the information.
"The secret must stay hidden. If Wu Fan dies, no one will suspect where the baby came from, and everyone will believe it's an illegitimate child!" said the man beside her, his eyes threatening.
"No, that's not right. He's innocent too. Even though we're married and have a child, he hasn't even touched me. Killing him would be too cruel!" Lin Miao immediately retorted.
"Lin Miao, you're too kind. Alright then!"
The man, named Lei Meng, was the owner of a security company in Tianshui and had been seeing Lin Miao for six months.
Outwardly, he dropped the subject, but as soon as he returned to his office, he told his two trusted men, "Go take care of Lin Miao's so
n-in-law. Make sure there's no trace left!"
