Chapter 7 - Chapter 7

"How come you never talk about yourself, not even one thing? Now I'm really curious." Ella raised an eyebrow as she helped me fold some bed sheets. Ella had the most positive energy I had ever felt from a person; it was like she was this genuine ray of sunshine. It was nice just having her around; she made me forget I was a prisoner here sometimes.

I smirked. "Because there's nothing to talk about. I'm pretty basic and boring," I lied. If I had to write a book about myself, my history and all, it would be a whole bible.

"For some reason, I don't believe you. I think there's more to you," she said, nodding her head, as if she was trying to convince herself.

I smiled; there was definitely more, but I wasn't going to tell her that. Yes, I kind of liked the girl, but I trusted no one. My past was nothing I was proud of, but that's what it was, just my past.

"So how many sisters does the Alpha have? Does he have any more family members?" I asked, changing the topic.

"It's just him and Rya. His mother died during childbirth, and his father was killed in battle. So it's just them now; the Alpha had to take over the pack at a very young age. I think he was 17 back then, but he is a great leader," she said with pride.

Interesting. So Rya was really his only weakness. He would probably do anything for her—anything. "Wow," I said before grabbing the laundry basket. "Don't worry, I will take these to the pack house."

She looked at me. "I thought you said you would never set your foot over there. It's okay; I can do it. You can take a break," she said.

I shook my head. "Your Alpha doesn't seem so bad. From now on, I will do my best to get along with everyone, and that means showing my face over there," I said as I made my way to the pack house.

Ella smiled. "I like how you keep talking as if you are not his mate and you are not practically our Luna."

I ignored her statement as I rushed ahead. "Bye, Ella, see you later." Ella just laughed as she walked in the opposite direction.

Right, all I needed was to get close enough to Rya. She was literally my only ticket out of here, and if I played my cards right, I would finally be free today. I entered the pack house, and obviously, everyone was watching me. It could be because of my red hair, which always made a loud statement, or it could also be because I was their Alpha's mate. Maybe it was both; thankfully, nobody ever bothered me. They just watched or whispered.

I didn't know where to go next, but I did catch Rya's scent. She almost had the same scent as Roman. It wasn't a surprise; that's one other thing that confirmed they were blood. I followed her scent up the stairs, but I made sure I didn't make it obvious that I was up to something.

I almost smiled as I heard her voice; she didn't sound so bubbly. She actually sounded frustrated and afraid. I listened closely. "Let me go, Nathan, please! I'm not ready!"

Something inside me just snapped, and I placed the basket by the side of the door before I budged in. This Nathan idiot had Rya by the wall. His hand was about to go where it wasn't supposed to go. The scene was just so disheartening, and it made me so mad.

"If you don't remove your dirty hands off her, you won't like the consequences," I warned him.

I narrowed my eyes at him as he moved away, and the little shit had the audacity to smile at me. "We were just having a little fun; that's all, lady. It's not that deep."

"Fun is over, leave," I said, and he nodded. As he was about to pass through me, I grabbed his ear so hard I'm sure it almost got ripped off. "If I ever see you anywhere near this girl, I will rip each and every limb off your body slowly... painfully slow."

He groaned, and I let him go. He ran off so fast; it was almost funny, too bad I was not in the mood. He had just ruined my day, stupid pup. Rya caught me by surprise as she ran towards me and gave me a big hug. She was in tears. "Thank you so much; I don't know what I would have done if you hadn't come in," she cried.

I rubbed her back softly as I sighed. "Is he your friend, mate, or your boyfriend?" I asked, hoping he wasn't her mate.

She shook her head. "He is the beta's son; we started dating two days ago. He seemed so nice; I don't know what happened."

I could not believe I was about to say this. I never imagined myself saying something like this, but my wolf urged me to say those words, and they felt right coming out of my mouth. "You should probably wait for your mate, Rya. Be patient; your time will come. You don't need idiots like that boy to feel whole or loved."

Rya nodded and smiled up at me; that's how short she was. Her eyes were so puffy and red. "Please don't tell my brother; he will be so angry and devastated."

"Don't worry; I won't tell your brother about this as long as you promise to stay away from that boy," I said.

"I promise," she said, and I smiled before walking out.

I found the closest bathroom and entered. I felt like screaming; what the fuck just happened! Why did I save that girl; this was my chance to get out of here instead I just had to play the hero—the good guy. What was going on with me; this wasn't me. "Fuck this!" I said as I opened the door harshly, only to come face to face with 'him.'

"Bad day?" He said, and I just grabbed his neck before attacking his lips. He pushed me inside before closing the door; right now, I didn't give two shits about anything. I just wanted to release all my frustrations, and he just happened to be there at the right time.
