Chapter 5 - Chapter 5

To say this place was very peculiar would be an understatement. Everything seemed odd ,they called these the deadlands but it looked more of like the garden of Eden once you were in 'his' territory. Ella was showing me around ,where I would be working in the gardens mostly and the laundry room. The females here looked very fit and beautiful. I knew for a fact that they could fight which is why I wasn't going to try any bullshit-yet. I needed a plan but before planning I had to investigate this place including the pack.

Ella smiled as she showed me a pile of clothes "so today you can start with this,it's easy. You wash and you hang them outside" I looked at her with a blank face and nodded my head.

The world was full of crap, I never pictured myself doing laundry-ever. It was beyond degrading and all of this suffering because I tried fighting for love. Love was poison ,a disease that could ruin you in an instant . It was a sickness and I should have stayed away. I should have known better, Alexander didn't deserve me and neither does this Alpha.

Ella smiled before walking out . I knew she would be back just like I knew they were all watching me from every corner. I started washing the dirty pile of clothes but I didn't stop thinking about my next move. Yes I always had to be one step ahead nomatter what.

My eyes lit up as I watched a group of people walking into some sort of an entrance. They were holding something but that entrance had to lead somewhere .My instincts urged me to investigate. As I approached the entrance, the air seemed to thicken with anticipation.

The entrance revealed a passage into the heart of the Deadlands, a place unknown to me. I slipped through unnoticed, my senses on high alert. Shadows danced along the walls, casting a veil of mystery over the path ahead.

I traversed the hidden passages, determined to understand the workings of this pack. The Deadlands held secrets, and I aimed to uncover them, my every step calculated to avoid detection. The scent of earth and pine lingered, masking the dangers that lurked in the unseen corners.

A distant echo of laughter reached my ears, drawing me closer to a gathering in a spacious courtyard. The pack engaged in various activities, their camaraderie contrasting with the secrecy that shrouded their existence.

I observed from the shadows, a silent spectator in a clandestine world. Every interaction, every whispered conversation, was a piece of the puzzle. I needed to understand their dynamics, their alliances, and the true nature of Alpha Roman.

As I delved deeper into the heart of the pack, a chilling realization struck – escape was my only chance at survival. The Deadlands held a grip on its inhabitants, and I refused to be another pawn in their game. There was just something weird about this place ,it felt like this pack was in its own world. To me it felt so unrealistic, it felt so foreign and I knew I didn't belong here . I would go mad if I stayed here for too long.

With newfound determination, I retraced my steps, my mind mapping the labyrinthine passages. The pack, unaware of my reconnaissance, continued their daily routines, blissfully ignorant of the storm brewing within.

Just as freedom seemed within reach, a hand clasped around my arm, pulling me into the shadows. Alpha Roman stood before me, his eyes piercing through the darkness. I tensed, ready to fight, but he held me with an unexpected gentleness.

"Attempting to escape, Iris?" His tone was a mix of dominance and something resembling concern.

I tried to jerk away, my fists clenched. "Let go of me right now." I warned him. I was ready to fight him without hesitation. I ignored the sparks that his touch brought to every inch of my skin.

He dodged my attempts to resist, his grip unyielding yet strangely soft. "Escaping is not an option mate. There's more to this world than you can imagine. Why are you running away from fate. Do you really think you can escape your own destiny."

It felt like his words had more meaning to them. He sounded so mystic and suddenly it felt like he knew something that I didn't. What did he mean ,was I missing something. I shook my head because right now all I knew was that I wanted to get the hell out of here whether he liked it or not. I kicked his leg so hard he should have fallen or atleast showed that he was in a bit of pain but he didn't even flinch. I widened my eyes.

Before I could react, he moved with a swiftness that caught me off guard. His hand found its way to my neck, and before the panic could set in, his teeth sank into my skin. A gasp escaped my lips as a surge of conflicting sensations overwhelmed me. I couldn't control the moan that left my lips as sudden warmth invaded my body especially down there. He growled deeply as his teeth sunk in deeper claiming me as his completing the mate bond. I wanted to cry ,this was not supposed to happen. I was not supposed to feel this way. My legs felt numb and I held onto him tightly. My vision was slowly becoming blurry and he carried me in his arms after he was done marking me.

"No" I whispered as a single tear trickled down my cheek and I know he heard me as he continued to walk.

In that moment, Alpha Roman marked me as his, the mate bond sealing our fates. The world around me blurred as the gravity of the connection sunk in. I had escaped one form of captivity only to fall into another, bound not by chains but by an invisible thread that linked our destinies.
