Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: A Moonlit Night

A wise man once said, to contain and control great power, there must be an even greater power.

This was the case with the world, to put a stop to the war between the five continents over their lands and resources, a war that was heading toward the path of destroying the whole world.

A mysterious Angel had to intervene, and with him, he brought a glistening red orb, an orb that would today come to be known as the orb of destruction.

Despite its name, this orb quickly became the symbol of peace between all five continents and was placed on the island in the centre of the world, Centrumo.

As long as the orb remained on the island, it was guaranteed that a war between the continents would never happen again.

That was until one hundred years later when something that had never happened before happened.

The orb had suddenly gone missing. However, it didn't go missing as a full orb.

The leaders from all five continents were one day suddenly contacted by a mysterious contact informing them that the orb had broken into six different parts.

The message urged them to start searching for the parts, stating that the first person to assemble the parts and return the orb to its original state would have unrivalled dominion over the world.

This was the current state of the world, a hunt for the orbs between five continents, each one eager to rule over the whole world.

However, the five continents weren't the only parties interested in obtaining the orb.

On a moonlit night, In an abandoned railway in the first continent, a scuffle for an orb part was currently ongoing as fourteen men dressed from head to toe in black stealth wear were fiercely on the tail of a young woman.

Wearing a red flowing jacket with her lustrous brown hair neatly tied back, she ran confidently with great strides in each step.

The rail tunnel up ahead was one she was planning to use for her escape, and being just a few steps away from getting to it, her chasers tried to cut her off from both flanks.

However, she had no intention of letting them catch up to her before she got to the tunnel so she did the only thing she could do at that moment, kicking up her speed.

Her chasers were left baffled as they believed she had been running at full speed all this while, but she was two times faster now and was just a few steps away from reaching the tunnel.

Seeing that they were about to lose her, one of the men got desperate, and acting on that feeling, he pulled out his grappling hook and shot forward before pulling himself forward in an attempt to get ahead.

Just as he was about to fly past her, he pulled out a dagger from his side and flung it toward her in an attempt to stab her.

However, the dagger was not able to make contact with her as it ended up hitting some sort of force field.

"You know that's not going to work so why bother?" She scoffed before proceeding to grab him by his arm.

Knocking the dagger out of his hand, she pulled him closer before slamming her right palm straight down his gut.

The force from that hit alone was enough to send him flying far away from the rail tracks, and not bothering to check where he was going to land, she quickly made her way into the dark tunnel.

The rest of her chasers arrived at the tunnel entrance just a second later, and they were looking quite hesitant to follow her in there.

"What are we going to do now?" One of the men asked, his question directed to their supposed leader who was standing in front of all of them.

He wasn't quick to answer that question as he stared into the dark void for a while before reaching for his side.

A second later, he pulled out some sort of device which quickly turned into a very bright glow stick after pressing a button.

"We've come this far for that orb piece; we can't afford to go back empty-handed now." He uttered. "This is obviously a trap but she's the one getting trapped in it." He added before pulling out a pistol.

"But we can't use that, the first continent has a law against unauthorized use of firearms."

"Do you see anyone here to enforce that law now?!" Their leader snapped. "Get your lights and guns ready, unless you're willing to die for nothing."

Under his command, the others pulled out their lights and guns before proceeding to slowly follow him into the tunnel.

The tunnel was completely tranquil as they made their way into it, and nothing seemed to be happening so far.

Well, that was until the last person fully stepped into the tunnel.

A surge of force quickly zoomed through them, taking out all their lights in the process, except for the one their leader was holding.

"Huh?" Most of them gasped as they felt a quick shrill run down their spines.

They were all in a frenzy now as they kept looking around the area, but there was nothing to see but darkness.

"Stay calm everyone." The leader said in a low voice as he slowly looked around.

"Hmph, I wonder if you're calm yourself."

Hearing that voice, all of them suddenly went silent and froze.

Being the only one still with a light source, slowly looked up to where the voice came from to see their target hanging upside down on the roof, like a bat relaxing in the darkness.

"I admire your bravery, most thug leaders stick to the back to avoid being the first ones to get taken out." She chuckled.

"Annoying bitch."

Filled with annoyance and desperation, he quickly pointed his gun toward her, but before he could pull the trigger, his light went out.

With the tunnel now completely dark, only the sounds of gunshots and groaning could be heard in there, but just after twenty seconds, everything went back to being silent.

"It's been a while since I've run this much."

Her dim blue eyes shone in resonance with the moon as she slowly stepped out of the tunnel from the other side.

She walked a few steps forward before she suddenly stopped and dipped her hand into her coat pocket and pulled out a red orb just the size of her orb.

A soft sigh escaped from her lips as she slowly rolled the orb on her fingers.

"If only I could just destroy this…."

She wasn't able to finish that statement as she suddenly caught a whiff of something in the air.

"What's that?" She muttered as she sniffed the air. "It smells like…"

She was caught off from finishing that sentence as she suddenly sensed something coming straight toward her at full force, a bullet.

With a quick flip backwards, she was able to avoid the bullet, but only barely so.

"Where did that come from?"

Her question was soon answered as it didn't take her long to spot the tower just a few distance away.

'Sniper.'

She wasn't given much time to catch her breath as another shot was quickly fired toward her.

This time she didn't try to dodge it and instead attempted to stop it the same way he stopped the dagger earlier.

However, that turned out to be a big mistake as the bullet ended up breaking through just a second later forcing her to resort to deflecting it. It still ended up grazing her shoulder though.

"What's going on?" She muttered, her heart beginning to race now as her breathing became irregular.

Another shot was fired at that moment, and this time, there was nothing she could do as the bullet ended up piercing through her left shoulder, forcing out a sharp groan from her.

"My spirit force…" She groaned as she grabbed hold of her bleeding shoulder. "Why is it…"

It was at that moment that a thought she failed to finish earlier came rushing back to her.

"Absimo gas." She gasped.

The realization suddenly hitting her, she turned to the tunnel, as the only thing she could think of at that moment was taking cover.

However, just before she could take a step toward the tunnel, she found a huge figure towering over her.

Standing over six feet tall, the man had a bulky figure with bulging muscles and his seasoned face was one filled with scars on the left side.

"Hey, there." He smiled.

She wasn't fast enough to react as he pulled his right foot back and sent her tumbling back with a kick down the abdomen.

Going as far as the kick could take her, the most she could do was slowly picking herself up to get on one knee.

She was covering her nose with her hand to avoid inhaling more of the gas. However, it seemed to be too late for that.

She felt like a huge chunk of her energy was consistently getting pulled out from her, making it impossible for her to get up on her feet at that moment.

She couldn't control her breathing and there was blood dripping down from her nose and mouth. Her shoulder was also soaked in blood even though she was trying her best to keep pressure on the area.

"Luna Nexarion." The man chuckled as he slowly took three steps toward her. "Something about seeing you in this pathetic state really makes my soul sing in joy."

"What do you want?" Luna managed to force out in a weak voice.

"Uhh…I was just curious. They say it's impossible to hit you and the other Nexarion with bullets because of your immense spirit force, so I wondered if that would be possible even after inhaling absimo gas."

The grin on his face grew wider as he slowly raised the pistol in his hand to point it at her.

"I got my answer so my goal has changed now. I think the fact that there's someone as powerful as you is detrimental to maintaining the balance of the world, and to make matters worse, there's someone else just like you.

"If there's going to be a Nexarion, I think just one will suffice so it's best if you cease to exist now."

The only thing Luna could do was watch in silence as he pulled the trigger, releasing the bullet toward her.

Accepting her fate against her will, she slowly closed her eyes.
