Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Inconspicuous

Spirit force was something that every person on the earth possessed but unlike just possessing it, it wasn't as easy to unlock and use it properly.

Unlocking and training one's spirit force required years of training and not everyone had what it took to go through the necessary training.

This was the reason why there weren't that many people who could control their spirit force. But among those who had mastered the art of controlling their spirit force, there were those who stood on top, and among that class were the prodigies of the Nexarion clan.

"Your spirit lines are almost completely healed."

Inhaling or ingesting absimo was something that was very dangerous to anyone with unlocked spirit force.

Known as the spirit force absorbent as it would absorb spirit force after making its way into someone's system, pulling at the person's spirit line in the process damaging it in the process.

The greater the spirit force of the person, the greater the damage they would sustain and it could be fatal in certain cases.

Fortunately, repairing one's spirit force was possible as that was what Leo was doing to Luna at the moment.

With both of his hands placed on her back, he would pour some of his spirit force into her body, locate the damaged areas and start healing them.

Given the amount of absimo she inhaled, her spirit lines were severely damaged, one of them was severely damaged at least, and fixing that kind of damage required a lot of external spirit force to lay the groundwork.

However, that wasn't a problem for Leo who possessed just as much spirit force as she did.

The process lasted for about seven minutes before Leo slowly slowly pulled his hands back.

"You should be good now."

"Oh, thank you," Luna responded before quickly getting up on her feet.

"It would be best to avoid getting into any fights, though; stressing your spirit lines immediately after they're repaired might slow down the healing process."

"I'm aware of that." She nodded, a bit awkwardly.

"So, on that note." He said, snapping his fingers. "How about coming with us? We'll be leaving once I'm done with my appointment at noon."

"I can't." She shook her head.

"You can't?"

"I appreciate the offer, but I can't wait until noon; I have to get going now."

Just after saying that, she began to scan the room with her eyes.

"I see you're in a hurry," Leo muttered.

"Yeah, where are my clothes?" She inquired.

Taking his time to answer the question, Leo slowly made his way to the exit door.

"I'll ask the staff to bring you a change of clothes." He uttered as he pulled the door open.

"Uhh, I think the ones I was wearing last night would do just fine." Luna retorted.

"Well, that's too bad, I can't bring them back from the ashes."

"Huh? What do you mean?"

"I burnt them." He stated bluntly before closing the door just as he exited the room.

"You burnt…..Did he just say he burnt my clothes?" She muttered before sitting down on the bed.

Someone came knocking on the door a few minutes later prompting her to quickly get up on her feet.

"Leo?"

The door was pushed open as soon as she said that, and the first thing she saw was a rail of dresses being pushed into the room.

Another rail of clothes quickly followed after the first one, and after that, the third and final one.

While the first rail had just dresses hanging on it, the second one had blouses, pants and skirts on it.

Finally, the third rail had coats and jackets of different varieties hanging on it.

Luna was left dumbfounded as she stared at everything presented before her.

"He said he was only going to get me a change of clothes." She muttered before turning to the staff in the middle with an awkward smile. "Are all these for me?"

"Yes." She nodded. "The master asked us to prepare them earlier this morning. He said you're free to pick anything you want."

'I'm free to pick anything.' She said inwardly, a little suspicious of the situation.

"The master? Is that how you refer to all your customers, or is it a title reserved for your VIPs?" She inquired.

"No, it's a title reserved for our boss." The staff replied.

"Your boss?" Luna responded, quite taken aback. "You mean the guy who just left this room is your boss?"

"Yes, if I'm not mistaken, he owns this hotel." She replied.

"Seriously?" She sighed as she slowly looked around the room. "When did he….Oh, don't think about it, I need to get dressed and get out of here." She shook her head.

She didn't waste her time picking out her clothes: a pair of black pants, a neat red blouse and a red jacket with a white fur neck.

Finally, to go with that, she chose a pair of white sneakers from the collection of footwear that was presented before her.

"All right, time to head out." She muttered as she pushed her hair back to tie it into a ponytail.

While she was doing that, her gaze slowly shifted to an inconspicuous-looking black coat that seemed to have separated from the rest of the coats and jackets.

"Hmmm."

Now done with tying her hair, she picked up the black cap sitting on the first rail and put it on before turning to the door.

She was just about to pull the door open when she saw the door knob move, and soon after, the door was pushed open for her to find Leo standing outside.

He slowly scanned her from head to toe before slowly returning his gaze to her face.

"I see you're ready to head out." He said.

"As you can see." She responded before walking past him to exit the room.

The hallway was empty with no sign of anyone other than them nearby, but she still took her time to scan the area.

"Here."

Turning to him in response, she found him handing her a black card.

"What's that?" She inquired.

"An access card; there's a hidden slot in the elevator; put this in there, and it'll take you to a hidden tunnel. You can figure out the rest from there."

"A hidden tunnel?"

She sounded a bit reluctant but still reached out for the card.

There was a moment of awkward silence as the two held onto the card on both sides.

"Thank you." She said, finally breaking the silence. "I know that was the first I should have said to you instead of assuming you had a bad intention for saving me, but…"

"It's okay," Leo interjected.

Her response to that was a sigh as she slowly took the card from him.

"I'm also sorry, but I still don't think…"

"I said it's okay," Leo interjected once again, this time with a little chuckle.

"Is something funny?" Luna inquired, a bit confused.

"No, it's nothing, but you better get on your way." He responded, nodding toward the elevator.

"Yeah, I should hurry."

She hurried toward the elevator just after saying that as Leo watched with a smile on his face.

"Be careful."

_________ _________

Just like Leo said, the elevator somehow led her to an underground tunnel just a few blocks away from the hotel building.

This was supposed to make it easier for her to avoid detection by the numerous eyes searching for her outside.

However, it didn't seem to have walked that well as she could sense the numerous eyes that were immediately focused on her as soon as she joined the busy street to further conceal her presence.

Other than the people watching her from different positions, three men in suits were now suddenly on her tail.

Pulling on her cap to properly cover her face, she increased her pace.

There was a one-way junction to the right, and she was trying to get there as fast as possible.

The three men took note of the sudden increase in her pace, which fueled their suspicion and prompted them to move faster to catch up to her.

Creatively manoeuvring her way through the crowd faster than the three men could ever hope to do, Luna was able to get to the junction first.

However, it didn't take the men too long to quickly follow after her and it also didn't take long for them to spot the white fur red jacket walking in front of them with a black cap on her head.

"There, that's her."

Now in a less busy street, the three men quickly dashed toward her, getting to her in no time and as soon as they did, one of them grabbed her by her shoulder and turned her toward them.

"Huh?"

It seemed the person they thought was their target was a red-haired teenage girl with a lollipop in her mouth.

"Umm…can I help you, sirs?" The girl asked.

"Oh, sorry, we thought you were someone else." He responded abruptly as he quickly pulled his hand back.

His face turned sour afterwards as he turned to the other two.

While her pursuers seemed to have mistaken her for someone else, Luna was still on the busy main street.

The red jacket was gone as she was now wearing an inconspicuous black coat, the sneakers were replaced with black boots and her hair was down now.

"That was easier than I thought."

Sticking her hand into her pocket, she pulled out a pair of sunglasses and slid them onto her face which was beaming with a smile.
