Chapter 19 - Weak

"W-What is this situation, Elena?" Peter forced the words in his thoughts, he was not going to lie. He had already considered burying himself in the ground, but how could he?

"Can we swap places?" he stupidly asked.

[No thank you!] Elena refused, not that it was possible though.

"W-W-what's it Sylvie?" He asked with a shaky voice.

"I mean... Your body is...shining?" out of his expectations, Sylvie said something else: he should thank his stars now...

Oh, that was close, wait... Did she say shine as in... glowing?

Yeah, she did just say that; looking at his hand, he could see it slightly glowing with a mellow yellow color; examining all the exposed parts of his body, he could see the same happening; he wasn't sure about his face since he couldn't see it since they had ruined the mirror... But he was sure it was glowing too, and another thing...

"And my skin is feeling hot!" he said loudly, it was as if he was being burned by something but on a low heat.

It's the sun, he looked up. The small window of the bathroom was letting in the some light from the sun, but the heat was negligible, that's why he did not feel much pain.

[Oh! You forgot to pop on the ring on your finger since you came here early before the sun came out." Elena reminded him.

This morning, when they walked out of their apartment in a hurry, Peter forgot to get his ring out of the system inventory. It was still dark outside, so nothing rang a bell to him.

The feeling of being in the slightly dark environment, and the comfort it brought him played a bigger role in forgetting. Also, he was still a human until yesterday—getting used to the new vampire thingy wouldn't be instatenous.

"The sun!" Sylvie exclaimed out of worry while Peter watched in amazement. She created an ice block seemingly out of thin air around the window, stopping the little sunlight from penetrating...

"Wow~" This was the first time he saw a person using their ability without any effort, unlike Alec.

Ember awakeneds usually took like five or three seconds before they could use their abilities save the strength-based ones whose bodies were ever ready.

Wait... A royal Dragon, Ice user, and beautiful? Didn't his boss's daughter talk about an Ice Dragon feared by many students even some royals? Yeah, that was it, but at this moment, it did not hold much meaning to him.

"Pete," she called him in a soft voice, the next thing he knew, she was already hugging his arm, a worried look on her face. "What are you meant to do in this situation? You're weak against the sun; how did I forget that when we were just watching a vampire movie last night? I..." she was still saying more but he stopped her with a gentle touch of his finger on her shoulder.

"Say no more; stop worrying yourself so much; everything is not supposed to be on you; I have already made preparations for this." confirmation of his words was a ring that appeared in his extended arm.

"Yo... this, It's a... "

"Sunlight ring!" Sylvie completed in exclamation. It was real!

Peter smiled stupidly; he agreed to the thought of Sylvie knowing more about Vampires than he did; even though some things she knew were just lies, she still knew more than he did, at least for now.

"Yay," Sylvie snatched the ring from his hand and started inspecting it; the ring was big; apparently, it was meant to be worn on the thumb; it was made from a black-golden metal with a beautiful red ruby carefully placed in the middle of it.

As a being sensitive to the supernatural, magic and mana, she could feel a strange enemy emanating from within the big ruby; it was the real deal.

"Hehe~, part from the sun burning you to ashes, your body will shine under it, right? So long as it's not too much to burn." he was smelling something not pleasant coming his way. But he still answered.

"Yes?" he looked at her playful eyes wondering what she was going to say next.

"Have you ever played tag?" no, no, no, she was kidding right? This was dangerous to play with...

"Ah, Sylvie, that ring can only protect me from the sun for two hours; I think we should be worrying about that." he scratched his head.

"You mean, you should be worrying about it?" she excluded herself from it.

"um... And someone might hear us from the other side," he changed his approach.

This was not going to end soon, in a small space like this, and with the small distance between them he acted...

"That was bad of you!" walking by her side, he chose not to reply to her childish complaint; what was bad with taking away what was his?

"By the way Sylvie, do dragons have a self-healing innate ability too? Every time I drink your blood, the wounds of my fangs seem to disappear on their own!" with how careful he had it be, Peter wanted to know every little information he could.

"No, and yes, you see, there are two kinds of dragons, the original ones, like the real born dragons, and the other kind are the awakened dragons. The latter are weaker than the original ones, and if they get injured, they can only rely on healing abilities to get cured, no exception until they reach the King Rank. But the original Dragons like me are different, although our healing is not strong and instantaneous like you vampires. We heal slowly and steadily. For wounds like your fangs, it would take time an hour before they disappear.

"So to answer your question, no, it's not my body that heals me after you drink my blood; like I said, my healing is not that fast now I want to return the question to you... How do I get instantly healed?" she asked him.

At this moment, the two were exiting the washroom corridor; the hallways leading to the principal's office were before them. After passing it, they would ascend the stairs to Sonya's office.

Unlike before, this time, it was filled with many students; it was morning, after all, and the classes were about to start.

For some reason, Peter did not feel threatened by the presence of many people anymore who exuded noble auras. Instead, he held his chest high with pride.

This was not so like him... At least the human Peter was not like this.
