The aroma of strawberry vanilla cake filled the air as Prince Adrian sliced through another piece, his expression surprisingly soft. The rich, creamy texture and the delicate sweetness made it impossible to hide his enjoyment. Sitting across from him in the lounge, Sir Cedric leaned back comfortably on the couch, his own plate nearly empty.
"This is good," Cedric said between bites. "I didn't think Lady Eleanor had it in her to bake like this. You should keep her around if for no other reason than the desserts."
Adrian smirked, setting his fork down. "She does seem full of surprises."
Cedric tilted his head, watching the prince closely. "Speaking of surprises, there's been talk."
Adrian raised an eyebrow. "Talk?"
"You know, whispers in the court," Cedric replied with a grin. "Apparently, some folks think you're fond of Lady Eleanor."
Adrian leaned back, folding his arms. "Really? That's what people are focusing on now?"
