Anna hesitated as she broke the hug, her gaze lingering on Alexander's face. His eyes, though calmer now, still carried a storm beneath the surface. She knew how close he'd been to losing control, and it scared her. Yet, she didn't let her fear show. Instead, she gently placed a hand on his arm.
"Let me help you to your room," she said softly.
Alexander gave a slight nod, but just as they began walking, his phone buzzed in his pocket. He glanced at the screen, the name on the caller ID making his jaw tighten.
It read Mr. Voss.
"Wait," he muttered, holding up a hand as he answered the call.
Anna watched curiously as he brought the phone to his ear. His expression turned cold, his body language rigid. She could only hear his side of the conversation, but it was enough to tell her it wasn't going well.
"Yes, Father," Alexander said tersely.
From the tone of the voice on the other end, Anna could tell that the person on the line was furious.
