Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

Once we got home, I went up to my room to take a shower. Around six, Mia came up and told me they were going out to celebrate, and they might not be back tonight before promptly leaving.

Sigh, I should've expected this. A little while later, I left my room and went to the kitchen to make myself a sandwich. I was about to go eat my sandwich in my room when i heard a knock on the door.

Leaving the sandwich where it was, I went out to open the door. It was already 8:45 and I wasn't expecting any guests. I tried to see who it was at the door through the window beside the door, but it was way too dark outside.

I opened the door and poked my head out. Nothing. "Hello? Is anyone there?" Still Nothing. I get ready to close the door when i hear something behind me.

Most of the neighbors had already turned in for the night. It was dark outside, only lit by the dim yellow light from a broken street lamp. But I could see it. There was something moving behind the lamp post on the other side of the street. There was a figure in a black hooded cloack.

I should have left it at that. I should have turned around and closed the door. But i didn't. It was cold in just my gray shirt and tights but not cold enough to stop me. I left the safety of my home and started walking. Down the path I stopped on the pavement, across from the figure.

"Hello?" I ask again. I move closer before I suddenly realize just how stupid this is. Here I am, alone and vulnerable, moving towards a possible threat to me. Before I can decide what to do next, the street light suddenly turns off, plunging me into almost utter darkness.

Panic starts to set in. It's a cloudy night. There is no moon in the sky, and almost all the neighbors are asleep. The only light was coming from a house far down the road. Much too far away to hear anything.

My hands suddenly feel so cold, as if I had just dunked them into ice water. There's something cold and heavy clutched in my right fist. The light flickers back on. I run towards my house. I lock the door and run up to my room. I didn't bother to get my sandwich after that.

I sat on my bed, breathing heavily. My hands were shaking from the cold. Clutched in my right hand was a silver necklace with a blood red crystal shaped like a skull. Beside it was a neatly folded up piece of paper. I had no idea how or when they'd gotten there.

Carefully putting the necklace down on my bed, I unfolded the piece of paper and started reading its contents.

"Deceitful Power, isn't it so sweet.

In halls of power, where shadows lurk, Echoes sound of deceitful work. A rage awakens, deep and strong, against a world that's gone so wrong. Golden tongues tell tales untrue, a spectacle for public view. Yet hearts see through the woven lies, Anger ignites, its flame never dies. Iron and silver, the vicked vine, with hollow promises in their hand. Their words, like empty vessels, ring, Their actions, a different song they sing. In marble towers, they dine in splendor, while the masses their fortunes surrender.

Look at the world, a playground no more, broken and bruised, its wounds are sore. Tears of the poor, the voiceless, the weak, Fuel the anger, make the ground creak. For when power is blind and justice is soiled, even the calmest hearts grow bold. Anger, a phoenix, from ashes, born, a clarion call in the frosty morn. A catalyst, fierce, in the hands of the right, can topple the mighty and bring forth the light.

Their castles of sand, built on deceit, will crumble and fall at the seams. For the truth, like a river, cuts through the stone, And anger, like wind, through the marrow and bone. Oh, people of the world, heed this song, The path you tread is gravely wrong. The anger stirs, it's more than a roar, It's a promise of a world seeking something more.Oh, darling dear if its power you seek then it's me you seek.No one's wrong if no one's right. The reaper will come and rule the night."

As soon as the words left my mouth, the necklace flew up and lached itself onto my neck. Before I could react, the neclace started to glow a bright red. It started to get warmer and warmer until it burning my flesh.

"AAAH," I screamed, reaching up to pull the necklace off. The more I pulled the tighter it got. It felt as though it was choking me to death. I stopped pulling, and it started heating up even more, burning right through my skin. I was about to scream when i felt something down my neck.

Blood. It was burning right through my flesh. Blood and multen flesh streamed down my whole body. I opened my mouth to scream, yet nothing came out.

My vision started to blur. My legs started to give out, and i fell to the floor, paralyzed with pain. Everything was spinning, and my head hurt as if someone were hitting it with a hammer. Then there was a noise in my head, almost like a game notification.

Before I could react, I passed out.
