Chapter 5 - Chapter 5

I wake up to the sound of people shouting outside my widow. I look outside to see two men arguing about a cart which they both claimed was theirs. Great. Looks like I won't be able to sleep in anymore.

I get outof bed and look at the time. It's 5:15am. I got of bed and decided to do a quest. Almost all of them are locked but there are a few that aren't. I decided to do all 3 of them now.

I change into sportswear before doing the first one. All I had to do were 10 push ups. All right. Easy.

I get on the floor and start. "One...two...three....four.....fiivee....sixxx." I stoped and sat on the floor. Okay, so maybe not that easy. I sit there for a few minutes before doing the rest. "Seven.....eighht...nineee...ten!" I colapse on the floor, breathing hard.

Ding!

Wow. It was only one upgrade but I could feel a drastic difference in power. I grabbed my phone and rushed to the door. I wanted to test out this new power as soon as possible, and to do that, I'd need to be out in the open.

I went down stairs and ran out the door. I went down several streets and allyways before stumbling across a large forest. I went in and kept walking until I found a small open area.

I stretched my hands out infront of me and tried to Summon my lightening magic. I closed my eyes and took in a deep breath. Suddenly, lightening shot up out of my hands towards the nearest tree, scoring a deep gash in the side of the tree.

"Wow.." I breathed. I couldn't even do half that much damage before. I looked down at my hands that were still glowing with lightening. I decided to try out the next one while completing my quest. I had to run 1km.

I got into position and concentrated on covering my whole body with lightening. Small sparks of lightning surrounded my whole body, giving off a beautiful blue glow in the dim light of dawn.

I started running. It felt incredible to be this fast. I was already pretty fast but now, I was at least twice as fast as I normally was. I was so excited about my newfound speed that I hadn't noticed the tree right infront of me before it was too late.

I crashed right into the tree and swore I saw stars. All right. I need to improve my focus. I got back into position before continuing to run around the area. I completed the quest in 3 minutes. This was my favorite quest so far.

I looked ou at the rising sun, shining right into my eyes. I moved out of the clearing and went to go sit in the shade of a nearby tree. I opened up my status screen and tried to upgrade it again.

This time it worked. A bright purple glow surrounded my whole body and I could feel the shadow coming towards me.

I looked down at the shadows all around me. I closed my eyes and tried to conseal my presence. Whatever that meant. When I opened my eyes, I was almost completely invisible.

By the time I got back home the sun had already risen and my father was nowhere to be seen. I check the cupboard for any food I could eat.

"Just great," I sigh. The only food I managed to find was a half eaten pack of biscuits and expired cereal. I guess this means I'll have to getmy own food from now on.

I went to my room and decided to take a shower before changing into a blue blouse and black jeans. I tried to get my hair into a ponytail and failed miserebly, letting my black hair fall back over my face I checked my phone to find two new messages.

I opened it only to see Andrew had sent them. Great. Just great. He sent me one last night after I went to bed asking where I was. Another one this morning asking where I was and when I'd be back.

Huh. So they don't know I've been throw out then. I contemplate whether to reply or not, ultimately deciding to reply that I'm at dad's house. I put down my phone and slip on my knee length boots. I grap my phone and get ready to head out when I get a call.

It's from Andrew.
