Sophia sat in stunned silence, watching as Rachel disappeared out of the coffee shop. She couldn't believe what she had just heard. Rachel, the one person who had been helping her, had a secret past with Ethan.
Sophia's mind was racing with questions. What had Rachel done while working for Ethan? And why was she so afraid of him? Sophia felt a pang of uncertainty. Could she really trust Rachel?
As she sat there, trying to process everything, Sophia noticed a piece of paper on the table. It was a receipt from a local storage facility, and it had Rachel's name on it. Sophia's curiosity was piqued. What could Rachel be storing at a facility like that?
Sophia decided to do some digging. She pulled out her phone and did a quick search on the storage facility. As she scrolled through the results, Sophia's eyes landed on a review from a former customer. The customer had complained about the facility's lax security measures, and how easy it was to break in.
Sophia's heart started racing. Could Rachel be hiding something important at the storage facility? Something that Ethan might want to get his hands on?
Sophia knew she had to investigate further. She grabbed her purse and headed out of the coffee shop, determined to uncover the truth.
As she walked to the storage facility, Sophia couldn't shake the feeling that she was being watched. She looked around, but saw nothing out of the ordinary. Still, the feeling persisted.
When Sophia arrived at the storage facility, she was greeted by a friendly attendant. "Can I help you with something?" he asked.
Sophia hesitated, unsure of how to proceed. But then she remembered the receipt she had found. "I'm looking for a storage unit rented by Rachel," she said.
The attendant nodded. "Let me check." He tapped away at his computer, and then nodded. "Yes, Rachel has a unit here. But I'm afraid it's not accessible to anyone but her."
Sophia's heart sank. She had been so sure that she would be able to find something important at the storage facility. But now it seemed like she had hit a dead end.
As she turned to leave, Sophia noticed something strange. The attendant seemed nervous, glancing around the room as if he was afraid of being watched.
Sophia's instincts kicked in. She leaned in, her voice barely above a whisper. "Is everything okay?" she asked.
The attendant hesitated, looking around the room again. And then, in a voice that was almost inaudible, he said:
"Be careful, okay? There are people watching. People who don't want you to know the truth."
Sophia's heart skipped a beat. What was going on? And who was watching her?
