Sophia's eyes locked onto the black SUV following them. Her heart was racing, and she could feel her palms growing sweaty.
Rachel noticed Sophia's gaze and followed it to the SUV. "Oh no," Rachel whispered. "We have to get out of here."
Sophia nodded, and Rachel quickly pulled out her phone. She dialed a number, and after a brief conversation, she hung up.
"What's going on?" Sophia asked, trying to keep her voice steady.
Rachel glanced around nervously. "I called a friend. He's going to meet us and help us get out of here."
Sophia nodded, feeling a sense of relief wash over her. But as they continued to walk, Sophia couldn't shake the feeling that they were being herded towards some unknown destination.
And then, just as they were turning another corner, Sophia saw Alex standing on the sidewalk. He was smiling, but his eyes seemed cold and calculating.
"Sophia," Alex said, his voice dripping with charm. "I see you're in a bit of a bind."
Sophia's instincts screamed at her to run, but her legs seemed rooted to the spot. What was Alex doing here? And whose side was he really on?
Rachel stepped forward, her eyes flashing with anger. "Alex, what are you doing here?"
Alex shrugged. "I could ask you the same thing, Rachel. But I think we both know why we're here."
Sophia's mind was racing. What did Alex mean? And what did he have planned?
As she stood there, frozen with uncertainty, Sophia realized that she had made a terrible mistake. She had trusted Alex, and now she was paying the price.
But it was too late now. Alex had already made his move, and Sophia was trapped.
