Sophia's eyes locked onto Alex's, and she felt a chill run down her spine. She had trusted him, and now she realized that he had been playing her all along.
Rachel stepped forward, her eyes flashing with anger. "Alex, you're not going to get away with this," she said, her voice firm.
Alex smiled, his eyes glinting with amusement. "Oh, I think I will," he said. "You see, I've been playing both sides against each other. And now, it's time for me to collect my reward."
Sophia's mind was racing. What did Alex mean? And what reward was he talking about?
But before she could ask any questions, Alex's phone rang. He answered it, listened for a moment, and then turned to Sophia and Rachel.
"It's Ethan," he said, his voice dripping with malice. "He wants to see you, Sophia. And he's willing to do whatever it takes to make that happen."
Sophia's heart sank. She knew that she was in grave danger. But she also knew that she couldn't back down now.
"I'm not afraid of Ethan," Sophia said, her voice firm.
Alex smiled again. "We'll see about that," he said.
And with that, he turned and walked away, leaving Sophia and Rachel to face whatever lay ahead.
As they stood there, frozen with uncertainty, Sophia realized that she had only one option. She had to confront Ethan, once and for all.
"Rachel, I need your help," Sophia said, her voice firm.
Rachel nodded, her eyes flashing with determination. "I'm with you, Sophia. Let's do this."
Together, they set off towards Ethan's office, ready to face whatever lay ahead.
