Joy stepped out of the bus and looked around, she liked the view.

At that moment, she felt really nervous. Would she fit in?

Would she be accepted here?

All her life she has always wanted to be accepted by people but she has always been an outcast and she was left depressed.

She walked inside looking for the counselor's office. She saw many students outside but didn't ask anyone for directions but decided to find the office herself. She did not know if she was too shy or nervous to ask.

She finally saw the sign, a caption "counselor's office" she sighed and knocked on the door.

"Come in"

She opened the door and walked in slowly. The sight of the office was mesmerizing, she was in awe. Just the counselor's office was like CEO's offices she was only on tv screen. The well arranged books on the shelf, the nearly cleaned table, not to mention the pretty lady sitting in the seat doing paper work.

"Tell me when you're done exploring" she heard the counselor's voice and she was brought back to reality.

"Oh.. I'm sorry" she lowered her head shyly.

"Its okay. Its natural to like my office, many kids do" she smiled brightly showing her white teeth. For some reason, Joy already liked this woman, she seemed nice and Joy suddenly felt better seeing her smile at her like that.

"Its beautiful. I've never seen an office this big and finely designed" she said honestly making the woman smile widen.

Joy came back to her senses and sat down before talking about why she came in.

"I'm Joy Thompson, the new student"

Looked like the woman before her already knew who she was.

"The new scholarship student, right?"

"Yes ma'am"

"You look smart yourself." Joy gave a shy smile. She was used to being complemented by teachers and school authorities, but for some reason, this one touched her and she felt like she must impress this woman at all cost.

"So, how was your old school? I mean, how was it to you?" .

She was honestly curious because she heard people talk about the high rate of bully in that school and she wondered if Joy was a victim.

Joy lowered her head, she looked like she was hesitant to say something.

"Were you also a victim of bully?" She whispered. Joy nodded her head and looked up at the woman before her.

Ms Jenkins felt a slight pain in her heart after her answer. She felt bad for Joy.

"Don't worry dear, here you're in safe hands. We handle such cases here and I can assure that nothing like that will happen to you, even if it does, you should let me know immediately. Okay?" She held Joy's hand and looked directly in her eyes.

Joy nodded her head as a response because she felt like she would cry if she opened her mouth to speak.

"You're gonna like it here. And if you ever need someone to talk to, I'm always here." Joy felt assured for the first time that she was safe. She wanted to trust Ms Jenkins.

"Yes, ma'am " she politely answered.

"Oh.. call me Ms Jenkins. That's what the kids call me " she laughed seeing Joy's reaction.

"Take a tour around the school and can fully resume tomorrow" Joy smiled and walked to the door. She held the knob and looked back again and her eyes met with the woman who was wearing a warm smile.

"Remember.... I'm always here"

Joy walked out the office with a smile in her face. At first, she thought the counselor was going to be harsh or grumpy like the one at her old school but she was wrong. Ms Jenkins was the best counselor she has ever met.

"Hey" she heard a voice and turned to look if the person was talking to her. And yes, she saw this pretty girl approaching her and she swallowed. She had never seen someone as pretty before.

"You're Joy right?" She was brought to life again

"I am" she simply replied.

"I'm Lily. I saw you coming out of the counselor's office and wanted to approach you. You seem nice" Lily seemed really friendly and Joy could not believe that someone actually talked to her first for the first time since she got into highschool.

Lily extended her hand for a handshake and goofy Joy accepted it.

"Let's be friends" Joy was speechless. Someone actually wanted to be friends with her? She couldn't refuse, could she?

It was like she went to Disney land for the first time. She was so happy that she could shrink.

"Yeah, sure"

"Let me show you around" joy happily nodded and the tour began.

Lily showed Joy almost every part of the school.

She showed her the classrooms, the laboratory, the teachers office, e.t.c.

Joy was really in awe. The school was really beyond her imagination, it was big and beautifully designed. The walls, the floor, the doors, even the seats. Everything was perfect.

"Whoa"

"Speechless right?" Lily looked at the girl beside her and couldn't stop herself from smiling. Her reaction was priceless.

"Wanna see the hot guys?" Lily whispered.

Joy turned to look her, she seemed confused. One thing was that she never really paid attention to the guys and never really thought of any guy as hot or cute.

"I know you want to" lily whispered in a singing voice.

"You sound like they are so attractive"

"Of course they are. You haven't even seen them yet. Let's go" lily held Joy's hand and ran, they headed to the basketball court.

As soon as they got there, Joy was totally dumbstruck. She was literally speechless.
