George who was picking up broken eggshells was suddenly stunned and finally came to his senses. He looked at the girl Jevro and I were talking to and quickly put what he picked up in the small trashcan. He came closer to us and looked back and forth between me and the child.
"Just agree to it, Yohan. As far as I know, Phoenixes are capable of protecting themselves even when they're young. Besides, I won't let your child go." George said while ruffling the girl's hair.
"Pfft!" It was Jevro. "You heard what your uncle said. He will take care of our daughter. Lets just give her a name." It was obvious that Jevro was teasing me based on the tone of his voice.
But I was not focusing to his teasing. I seriously looked at the girl and asked. "Are you of the Huluwa race?"
To my surprise, the girl's eyes suddenly lit up. You can see the anger in the expression on her face. Her neck suddenly had blue feathers that was also flaming.
"There are Huluwa in this world Daddy?! Tell me where they are, I will eliminate all of them,!"
We don't have to guess whether the girl is an ally or an enemy. Its very obvious that she's on our side. At least Jevro and I can breathe a sigh of relief.
"Daddy, take me with you two. If there is Huluwa in your world, then it means, you two are in danger!" The girl even touched the hem of Jevro's clothes while talking.
Only one thing came to my mind at that moment. This baby Phoenix is Huluwa's enemy. Looks like I need to talk to the mysterious voice again. Or maybe I should also bring this litte one to there. The question is, what will Alfonso's reaction be if he sees her?
"Devaugn, you don't have to come with us. Your Daddy Jevro is the number one powerful Malemyn in the country. But Uncle George is so weak. So you have to protect him, do you understand?" I seriously told her.
I saw how the girl froze as she stared at me. I'm a bit confused as I turned to Jevro. How surprising, Jevro is also staring at me dumbfounded.
"What? Did I do something wrong?" I asked him with a shrug.
He cleared his throat as he took a peek at the little girl. "Hmm.. Your Mom gave you a name so I'll give you your last name. From now on, your name will be, Devaugn Sifyola-Gusto. How's that? Good?"
It was as if I was thrust into my position. Why does something seem wrong? Yeah, I really feel like something is wrong, but I can't figure out what.
"Yes! I like it!" The Phoenix was very happy as she hold George's hand. "Grandpa! I finally have a name!" She even said it.
While the three were having fun, I casually contacted Alfonso. We are leaving tomorrow but I have to go to the Monsters Department. I sent him a message saying that I need to meet him inside that room for emergency. I also included the words, don't be surprised. When I received his reply of approval, I just returned to the three who were still having fun.
"Let's go to the Department with Devaugn. I already talked to Alfonso. He's waiting for us there." I said to Jevro. "Uncle, asked the maid to prepare a room for Devaugn. I'll bring him back here after we get back from the Department."
Uncle George nodded quickly and said goodbye to the girl with a smile. Jevro, on the other hand, carried Devaugn and held me by the waist. Even though I was a little surprised, I still focused my attention on teleportation. We teleported two times before we reached the Monsters Department. We didn't stop at the entrance because I knew there were many Malemyns and Gwandys outside the building. So when we arrived inside the room where the Mana Stone was, Alfonso was very surprised.
"What the hell?! You've just popped up out of nowhere! Are you trying to kill me...? Whos that?" His voice suddenly weakened when he noticed Devaugn carrying by Jevro.
Devaugn is also staring at Alfonso with a cold expression. I didn't say anything, Jevro did the same. We were both wondering if Alfonso would notice something different about the girl we were with. Unfortunately, there's no reaction.
"She's our daughter." Jevro answered after a while.
"Daughter my ass! When have you had a serious relationship?! Wait, our? who's the mother?" Alfonso is obviously interested in gossip as he asked.
Jevro let out a chuckle before pointing his finger at me. "Him.. he's the mother." He said.
I don't know whether to laugh or not. I can't describe Alfonso's alternating reactions. Jevro was the one who couldn't hold back. He burst out laughing so he received a smack from Alfonso. However, Devaugn suddenly used her power and pushed him without touching. Alfonso is an unlisted national level Malemyns, there are no Malemyns in the department who succeeded in knocking him down. But Devaugn did it effortlessly.
"What just happened?" Even Alfonso was surprised by what happened.
"You weakling! Why did you hurt my Daddy?!" Devaugn is now using her power to pressure Alfonso.
Well, if Jevro and I want to, we can easily stop Devaugn and explain everything to Alfonso. But unbelievably, we both now thinking what Alfonso might do with this power of pressure?
"What the hell?! Is she also an awakened one?! She's still a child but she's this powerful?!" Alfonso exclaimed while trying to stand up.
However, he really can't, so Jevro and I just let out our breath before I nodded my head to give him a signal.
"Devaugn, thats enough. He is my Uncle. So meaning, he is also your Grandpa like Grandpa George. He didn't hurt me seriously." Jevro explained to the Phoenix woman.
Devaugn flinched and quickly withdrew the pressure. She nervously approached Alfonso and helped him stand up.
"I'm sorry, Grandpa. I didn't know." She looks so wronged.
In response, Alfonso caresses her small cheek and gives her a chuckle. "I'm good. Although I'm quietly surprised that someone can actually pin me down just by using pressure." He said.
While the two were talking, I approached the Mana Stone and held it. The voice greets me of course. But it suddenly paused before it joyfully laughed out loud. I feel like I'm going to be deafened by the loudness of it's laughter.
"Stop laughing already. I know you feel my soul contract with her. So tell me, who, what and how?" I know it's hard to understand my question in the mysterious voice, but I also know that it understood me.
It stopped laughing and answered seriously. "That chick is actually my grandchild. Oh dont take it wrongly. What i mean is, my pet lost its egg 2 years ago. We thought that the Huluwa race got it. Who would have thought that it landed in your arms? Fufufu ..splendid!"
I turned to Devaugn. So, she's not a Huluwa? That's great. But she is also not human so Alfonso cannot know the truth yet.
"Tell me, what will happen if Devaugn touches the mana stone?" I asked again.
"Devaugn? Oh! You gave her a name! Fufufu.. Hahaha!"
Honestly, I'm sick of the laughter of this mysterious voice. If I could just give it a big smack on the back of it's head, I would have!
"Enough laughing! Goddammit!"
"Okay, Okay.. Haha! Well, nothing will happen. Although, the Mana stone will speed up her growth. So i suggest you not to let her touch it for now."
I withdrew my hand and approached Jevro who was also waiting for me. I told him everything and he just nodded his head. Alfonso is still talking to Devaugn. When I glanced at the time, it was 11:00 in the evening. We have to go back to send Devaugn to George.
"Shall we go?" Jevro nudged me.
"Yeah, we have to be early tomorrow. Tell your Uncle that we have to leave."
Tomorrow is the day that we have to go to the US. I pray that nothing will happen without Jevro and me by Devaugn's side. And hopefully, we can return to the country safely. I know that the mission is very dangerous, but its our duty given by God. To secure the safety of mankind, and eliminate the monster that hunts humans.
"Bye, Grandpa! You can visit me at my Mom's house!" Devaugn said goodbye to Alfonso.
Jevro chuckled but I didn't react about it. Maybe when we return from US, I will speak with Devaugn about the right way of addressing us. Once again, my waist was grabbed by Jevro. I also bid farewell to Alfonso before I used my power of teleportation back to the Sifyola residence. After sending Devaugn to her own room, me and Jevro both said goodbye to her and we also returned to Golden Residence.
The next morning, everyone is waiting at the airport. The total of 200 heads including Gwandys and Malemyns are ready to depart. Wearing their uniforms with Philippine flag on their right chest, everyone is ready to leave.
