"Are you feeling better?" Leon caressed Emma's hair. Last night, she had caught a fever, and it had spiked dangerously high. He had rushed her to the emergency room, and after a night of observation, they were finally back home.
She gave him a comforting smile and nodded weakly. "I'm sorry. You must have been worried a lot."
"I'm really scared, Emma. I can't really explain how I felt last night." He gazed deeply into her eyes. "What is it? What was really happening when you talked to Melissa yesterday?"
Emma hesitated, her eyes shifting away from Leon's intense gaze. She bit her lip, her heart racing. How could she explain something she didn't fully understand herself?
"I... I don't really know," she whispered, her voice trembling slightly. "It's like... like something's trying to break through, but I can't make sense of it." She pressed her fingers to her temples as if trying to hold the confusion at bay.
