Sirius burst out of the room in a whirlwind, Linus was gone, Saoirse was gone, who could he go to for help?
He looked down the hallway frantically with Lachlan in his arms.
He would have to go find the one werewolf in this place that hated him the most. Linus' beta. The man who had decided he hated Sirius since the beginning of his time here, ever since he had met him at that banquet.
He didn't even know the man's name, but he couldn't think of anyone else.
His feet went into motion, his heart pounding, his arms holding his son tightly as he ran down the hallway. "I need the Beta!!!! Somebody! Where is the Beta?"
A few people turned their heads as he rushed past them down the hall and then headed up the stairs.
"I need the Beta!!!! Where's the Beta!!!!???"
"What?"
"Huh?"
"What's that vampire yelling about?"
People murmured as he ran past them, continuing with his shouting.
Sirius looked in the council room. The large, heavy oval-shaped table filled the space, surrounded by 50 chairs, but no one was there.
He ran to the gym, where the sounds of clanking weights could be heard and shouts echoed through the acoustical place. People were busy doing various combative sports. Their sweat rolling off of them. "I need help finding the Beta!" He yelled as he entered the room. "It's an emergency!"
A teenage boy who was busy lifting 300 pounds as if it were nothing paused what he was doing and slowly let go of the handles as his load came back to a rest. He grabbed a towel from a servant that was next to him and wiped it on his neck before he handed it back to him.
"He's my father." The boy said as he got up and came over towards Sirius.
This boy had a few tattoos and looked like he didn't hang out with the right crowd. Makes sense. Sirius thought, seeing as the man had a lot of kids and didn't supervise them all.
He looked at Sirius expectantly with his golden brown eyes and gave a smirk. "I heard about you, you're the intruder that married the Luna." He looked at Lachlan. "The one who can't even make an heir of his own; had to take on the Alpha's son out of pity. I saw the pack chasing you at the banquet. You're a bird."
Sirius didn't know which werewolf in that family was more arrogant, the father or the son. He pushed the thought from his mind. It wasn't important right now. "Please take me to him, the Luna needs his help!"
"The Luna huh?"
Sirius explained to the boy what had happened as he grabbed his gym bag and made his way to the entrance of the mansion. The sun was out still, about to go down. As the boy entered the sunlight, Sirius hesitated. "I can't."
"And you wanted to be the Alpha." He scoffed. "Fine, I'll go get him. Wait right here."
"Thank you." He said with relief.
Lachlan, still in his arms said "ehhh?" And reached for the boy who was walking away as if to say, concerned at the stress his father was going through, "why aren't we following him?"
He didn't know what he had done, nor how to fix it, so Sirius didn't get mad at him. He only sighed . "I just hope mommy is ok."
About twenty minutes later, two brown wolves could be seen running towards him, the larger one had golden eyes and a fierceness to his face, a new scar prominent on his left eye from winning the alpha tournament. He had succeeded in becoming Sirius' challenger as expected.
The other, the young teenager, who was probably really only around 15. He was a younger version of his father except for his ears, which were black. Sirius watched them through the window as they arrived. As they shifted back into their human forms, he threw open the door and hastily greeted them clasping his hands together with the Beta. He was full of worry. The beta was too.
"Son, go ahead and go back to what you were doing, thank you for bringing me here, I have to talk to this intruder about important matters."
The boy frowned at his father's dismissal, but turned around to leave.
"Let's talk in the council room." He said, leading Sirius the way he had come from. "This is a serious matter and I don't want anyone overhearing us. That room is soundproofed.
Sirius nodded his head and followed him. Once inside, they began discussing what Lachlan had done to Saoirse.
"I see." The beta said nodding, "It sounds to me like the late Alpha's son has a similar ability to his."
Sirius listened intently as the Beta continued, "As you might know, Linus had the ability to jump from one space to another, because of his spirit energy. I doubt that this child can do that, considering his mother was a human as far as I've heard. The boy has a body and is able to be out in the sunlight, so he isn't an undead like some of the members of the pack. That being said, it seems like he is able to do so with his shadow. I don't believe that she would be harmed right now because you seem alright. I would assume that the baby has teleported her somewhere."
Sirius sighed with relief. It was a bit short lived though because he remembered what had happened to his hand. "But Lachlan's ability-it ate my flesh off my hand!"
The Beta shook his head, "I'm sorry, if Linus were here, he could tell us more, but each of his children are so very different and it would take weeks to reach any of the ones with a similar power. Linus doesn't allow pack boundaries to overlap so most of them are far away."
Sirius folded his arms. "What do you mean weeks? We can book a flight can't we? Humans have airplanes, it shouldn't take weeks to get anywhere on earth."
The Beta smiled condescendingly. "Oh hahaha, you vampires really are a secluded species. Linus' kids have mostly left this realm."
"Realm?"
"There are nine realms, Sirius. Earth, Midgard, that is only one of them."
