Chereads / The Beast Tamer Is A Slime / Chapter 4 - “Hello, Fellow Slimes”

Chapter 4 - “Hello, Fellow Slimes”

Of course, while "running away" Neo didn't forget to look at his system panel.

Since he could see the system panel that only hunters could see, he should also be able to see the list of skills that the slime had, right?

Instead of just activating skills out of instinct, wouldn't it be better to be more proactive?

Neo browsed through the system panel quickly, but he couldn't focus because he kept bouncing forward.

To be honest, his bouncing speed was not that fast, but maybe the hunters looked down on the little slime and didn't even think of chasing it.

Anyway, when they cleaned up the slime groups, they would find the mutated slime sooner or later.

So, the six hunters saw the cub bouncing "happily" into the dark cave that looked like the mouth of a beast, ready to swallow its prey.

The little slime didn't know that going deeper into the cave might be more dangerous than dealing with hunters like them.

Slimes could eat anything, but in this cave, there was nothing other than some pebbles, rocks, water droplets and mushrooms.

The mushrooms growing in the cave were all ordinary mushrooms or some moss that grew in a damp place.

Thus, many slimes had no choice but to eat other slimes to survive, including slime cubs.

A slime cub without their parents would most likely end up in another slime's belly!

The hunters didn't think much about whether the mutated slime would end up in the belly of another slime.

Their only task was to clean up the slime dungeon.

The hunters slowly walked deeper into the cave, and the previously wide area became narrow.

The place near the entrance of the dungeon was wide enough to fit ten people, but as they walked inside, the road further shrunk.

Now, the road was only enough to fit two adults at the same time.

When the road became narrower it limited everyone's movement, forcing them to line up in a straight line with John at the front, Lina behind John, Remy and Daniel behind Lina and the other two hunters at the back of the team.

When the hunters went further into the cave, not to mention the gradually darkening cave, even the temperature around them slowly dropped.

Tick. Tack.

A few drops of water fell from the ceiling of the cave, hitting the rocky road that already became somewhat slippery from these water droplets.

Remy and Daniel, the two hunters in charge of collecting materials, immediately collected these drops of water called the "Slime Water".

This water had miraculous healing effects on humans, just like how the slimes who drank this water all their life could regenerate quickly.

Once the two people finished filling up two palm-sized glass jars that they brought with them, Lina gestured to the others to go back to their formation.

"Okay, guys, keep up your guard. We are entering the middle section of the cave. There will be slimes soon."

Lina had already turned on the flashlight she carried before the surroundings became even darker.

The hunters had to use a special flashlight to illuminate their surroundings because the cave absorbed additional light, and it provided a perfect home for slimes who liked a dark place.

For humans, it was a nightmare.

Of course, Neo, who had already entered the cave's middle section ahead of the hunters, could see clearly in the dark.

He didn't know why a slime could "see" when they didn't have eyes.

Maybe he saw his surroundings through some kind of perception, not through eyes.

Neo had just entered the middle section of the long cave when his vision caught sight of something.

But it was not just one object.

Soon, Neo's vision was full with a lot of strange things emitting a strange light in the dark.

Maybe only Neo could see this "light", because the hunters a few meters behind him didn't even see anything.

Neo slowly stopped moving forward and cautiously tried to see clearly the objects in his field of view.

As Neo concentrated, more and more "spots of light" appeared.

At first, Neo could only see the "spots of light" sporadically.

Some were sticking on the wall of the cave near the ground level.

Some were sticking to the middle section of the wall, much higher than the other "spots of light".

Soon, more and more "spots of light" appeared at the ceiling of the cave, at the corner, hidden inside the crack, on the ground, and many more.

The entire cave, which was so empty before, was suddenly full of things.

Neo immediately held his breath and didn't even dare to bounce anymore.

His instinct told him to be careful.

Neo crawled slowly, almost without a sound.

But soon, his path was blocked by a wall of blinding light.

When Neo took a closer look, he saw a transparent slime five times the size of his body, maybe the size of a basketball, was gnawing on a weed growing at the corner between the ground and the wall.

This is an adult slime.

Seeing the slime five times bigger than him, Neo slowly backed away even when he didn't know that slimes actually ate each other.

He just didn't want to see this wall of jelly.

After confirming that those spots of light were slimes, Neo slowly crawled deeper into the cave, intending to find a place with no slimes within the radius of a few meters.

However, the more Neo looked around, the more he despaired.

The number of slimes here were too huge!

There were slimes every few steps, and these slimes were all quietly staying at their "territory" or busy gnawing weeds, mushrooms and rocks.

The rocks here were almost eaten until they disappeared, but more rocks would soon be formed miraculously.

Was this one of the dungeon's wonders that many researchers were still researching up to this day?
