The moment Neo entered the back section of the cave, the slimes in this territory twitched their bodies and simultaneously "looked" at the tiny slime trotting into their territory.
"Seeing" the little slime, most of the slimes returned to their absolute rock cosplay state, but a small number of slimes, especially the slimes who were much smaller than other slimes, didn't ignore the little slime.
These slimes that were only slightly bigger than the basketball-sized slimes at the front quietly "turned" their "heads" around, following Neo's movement.
When Neo passed by those mountain-like slimes, these slimes would subconsciously stop their movements.
But once Neo approached those slimes the size of one basketball and a half, these smaller slimes slowly crawled towards the palm-sized slime.
If someone were to look at this sight from a bird-eye view, they would see a tiny dot surrounded by bigger dots, like a lonely boat in the middle of a surging sea.
Neo still didn't know about the slimes' movements because all those spots of light around them made it difficult for Neo to see their small movements.
However, Neo didn't dare to venture deeper into the cave, albeit he had already seen the end of the cave.
This cave was not that big, but the length was quite considerable.
If there were no slimes, the hunters would have to walk through the narrow cave's tunnel for fifteen minutes at minimum.
Knowing that he had already arrived at the deepest part of the cave, the back section, Neo stopped moving forward.
Since there were more slimes and bigger ones at the back, Neo felt that those slimes would also be stronger than the slimes at the front.
At least, even if they were all F-rank slimes, those huge slimes must be about to upgrade to E-rank.
Or they simply ate much more food than other slimes.
Neo was content with his current gain and quickly found a secluded place behind a sharp rock protruding from the cave's wall.
He didn't dare to climb the cave's wall, much less hang at the cave's ceilings.
There were already so many hidden slimes at those places.
Neo carefully scanned his surroundings and found that although there were still many slimes around, there were only three or five slimes a few meters away from the rock he chose.
This distance was good enough.
Neo slowly crawled to the back of the rock and found what he was looking for—
A gap!
The gap between the rock and the cave's uneven wall was only small enough to accommodate one Neo, so even if slimes were liquid creatures, no slimes were interested in this specific "home".
Neo successfully found his new home!
Seeing this discovery, Neo happily occupied this tiny gap, extremely content with what he found for himself.
This place provided cover from the slimes' acid rain.
It was dark and damp enough, with small mushrooms and some weeds around.
The huge rock could also be a source of food!
Neo didn't know why the other slimes had not eaten this rock, or maybe they did, but the rock would slowly be "born" again.
It was one of the countless wonders belonging to these dungeons.
As Neo settled inside the gap, the slimes outside who were quietly "watching" him gave up one after another.
Most of them didn't want to cross over the territory of other slime groups just for a palm-sized slime.
They might as well gnaw the wall of this cave.
But there was one particularly stubborn slime among these "ambitious" slimes.
Driven by instinct, this slime, which was only slightly bigger than a basketball, had a strong urge to swallow that slime small.
Its genes were clamoring to devour that slime.
The little slime was special.
More special than the biggest slime in the cave!
This slime followed its instinct to devour and quietly crossed many slimes who were sleeping to save energy.
With so many slimes and so little food, the slimes could live a long life just by entering the sleeping mode, thus surviving without food and water for a long, long time.
Other slimes were as still as a rock, but this one particular slime tenaciously crawled toward the gap that Neo had just occupied.
The slime's instinct prevented it from bouncing around, possibly waking up some big slimes at the back.
With the slime's tenacious will, it finally arrived a few meters in front of Neo's new home— the big rock.
At this moment, Neo was dozing off while chewing on the huge rock beside him.
This rock was as tall as an adult male's waist. If humans wanted to hug the rock, they needed three adult men to do so.
Neo didn't want to eat the rock, but he was just so bored that he started to chew things for fun.
Of course, he didn't forget to open the palm-sized system panel to see what kind of skills he had.
The system panel was really so considerate as to shrink itself to Neo's current size.
Neo affirmed the system's excellent service in his mind as he began to seriously study the skills he had never read carefully before.
This time, he clearly saw two skill columns on his system panel.
The left column had the logo of a little transparent slime sucking a pacifier, while the right column was a bigger transparent slime with no pacifier.
Neo subconsciously clicked to the right column named [Slime Race's Basic Skills]
He quickly found the two skills he had used before— [Acid Spray] and [Immortal Body].
Soon, he saw the skill [Absorb] and [Devour].
Speaking of [Devour]...he's currently eating or devouring the rock…so he should trigger the skill, right?
How come nothing happened?
Neo read the full description of the [Devour] skill and found out that the skill only worked on living beings.
Ah…no wonder.
Knowing that gnawing on a rock couldn't let him try the [Devour] skill, Neo skipped this skill and focused on other basic skills.
However, he was so absorbed in reading the system panel that he didn't even notice the approaching slime…
