Five years later.....
(because the author is too lazy to think about how a baby's life goes)
A five year old child could be seen sitting on the roof of Igneel's cabin with his eyes closed, seemingly to be deep in thought.
{So it has already been five years since I've been here huh?}
{Well at least I have managed to gather a bit of information over the years I've been a baby}
{My new name or rather this body's name is Max Demigo. The only son of Igneel Demigo the Emperor Dragon who rules the Great Beast Forest and Grace Nova the former holy maiden of a small kingdom close to the holy forest}
{Despite all these years, my new mother hadn't woken up from what seems to be an eternal slumber. I have tried asking my father what's wrong with her a few months ago...}
{ Although he told me that her soul was damaged and will heal in time...he ignored me when I asked what caused such damage, the old man even got grumpy and said we'll start training mana control for then on since my brain seemed to have developed enough if I could ask such things}
Pat!
"Focus Max!"
Just as the child was stuck in thought, a large hand softly hit the back of his head.
"Son I know you're still too young...hell normally you should have only began training at ten, but your constantly rising mana level won't give us that luxury sadly"
"And since you've lomg displayed an intelligence way above your age level, I think you can definitely start training now.... you should thank me for being your father otherwise you'd never have been so smart"
That's right, Max's mana level had continued to rise over the years. At five his mana was already equal to that of an average twenty year old.
Although for the time being, Igneel's seal was enough to hold it back from hurting him, Igneel knew that one day it will likely not be enough.
So as soon as Max reached five years, a while back, he had been instructing him on mana control.
This was in hopes that one day Max can stop, or at least slow down his dantian's constant drawing in of mana.
Luckily for Igneel, the child seemed to be super smart so could already understand most of what he was told. Of course Igneel who didn't know that a soul that was already 18 years five years back was the reason for the intelligence. He really did narcissistically think that the child was only super smart because he was his father.
Max just rolled his eyes at his narcissistic father and try to get all the distracting thoughts out of his head.
After he truly focused, a familiar seen appeared in his mind, he could now perceive his dantian in his lower abdomen. It had three different colours swirling around in it, silver, black and gold.
There was a thin silver barrier around it that seemed to be constantly sucking in mana from the dantian. Though at the same time, more mana was constantly getting sucked into the dantian. With these two processes going on, the dantian manger to stay stable.
The reason why Igneel didn't just block off the dantian was because without being in contact with mana, it would start to deteriorate, to the point of dooming Max to the life of a powerless commoner.
What worried Igneel the most was how the mana being drawn in would increase every few months.
"That's it, try and take control of your dantian and make it stop taking in mana". Igneel's softened voice could be heard in the background.
After trying for an hour to control his dantian, Max's whole body was covered in sweat.
"Argh!, I can't do it father, are you sure it's even possible?"
He tiredly asked while looking up at his father who was standing next to him.
"Well... I don't know, you see Max, normally a person has to activately draw in mana into their dantian, if they stop, no mana will come in. Unless they have a shortage in their maximum capacity. This capacity can be increased with training of course, though how much it increases is dependent on a person's talent.
"While our dantians only draw in mana when there's a shortage that needs to be filled or we actively draw it in to make breakthroughs. Yours doesn't seem to have that function, its constantly drawing in mana even when it can't house it."
"At least it doesn't seem like you'll have issues with bottlenecks.... That is if your dantian actually allowed itself to get used to the mana before taking in more"
"To be honest with you son, we are moving in blindly, I'm sure we'll eventually think of something, you're my genius son after all"
"My wish is by the day your mother finally works up, you'll be in full control of your mana so that she won't have to worry..."
"Anyway, let's take a break for now and continue in a tomorrow, a small child like you shouldn't work too hard after all.
...
The next day....
"Father, I know you said that the dantian does both the drawing in of mana and housing it...but why could I sense that your dantian was only drawing in the mana and not actually housing it?"
"What?!, you managed to sense all of that just from me updating your seal?, what a terrifying devine sense you have there son....which shouldn't be possible now that I think about it"
"Well not the first crazy thing to happen to you, you little trouble maker, I can already feel my hairline receding in just these five years"
Igneel truly was shocked by Max's statement, only experts who had advanced significantly in their spiritual energy training should be able to sense what Max sensed.
"Well son, although this is still a far far away concept for you, I'll explain it to you just to clear your confusion for now"
"You see, in this world, there are two types of energies one should train in together, one is mana of course, the other is spiritual energy"
"While the mana obviously deals with the dantian, spirit energy deals with the soul. Spiritual energy constantly nourishes the soul making it stronger. Eventually one's soul will become strong enough to house mana...in fact the mana a soul can house seems to be near infinite since I've never heard of a person who filled up their soul with mana."
"Of course that doesn't mean that the dantian becomes useless, it's still as useful as ever. That's because only it can draw in mana, and it will even purify the mana before it's taken in by the soul."
"It's only when a person can house their mana in their souls that they can truly be called masters on this continent."
"Oh and at that stage when spiritual energy doesn't have to sorely strengthen the soul, your devine sense can be developed, along with some soul attacks"
"The reason why I hadn't told you about soul power yet was because you still don't have a grasp on your mana so I didn't want you to split your focus"
"I feel like I've talked way too much today, anyway, now that you know what your devine sense picked up I guess we can get back to our traini.....
With his mouth dry from all the talking he had done, Igneel was about to get back into training Max when it finally hit him at the end of his own explanation.
"Wait!!, why do you already have devine sense and why did I easily write it off before?!"
"Umm I'm pretty sure I've always been able to use it... though it can only cover my body...so weak!!" Max just looked at his father with a stoic expression while saying such shocking news and even complained at the end.
"Shut up before you give your father a heart attack!!" Igneel shouted .
