Chapter 21 - Chapter 21: I'm sure it will grow back

Four days later...

It seems Max's absurd power up took more out of him than Igneel initially thought. He took two days to wake up and the Igneel gave him another day of rest just to be safe.

"Okay Max, before anything else today, we have to find out what are your elements".

"Most good people like me have a single element, but there are jerks like your mother who have more than one". Igneel was clearly salty about only having one element, though he could easily beat those with more.

Max only nodded without saying anything as he could sense that it was a sore spot for his father.

"Now, this here is the elemental identification orb, you have to pour a bit of your mana into it and it will display your elements.... remember I said a little bit, don't break my orb it's uncommon after all". Igneel said while taking out a handball ball sized orb from his storage ring which was transparent in colour. He then hands it to Max as he tells him what to do.

Max holds the orb in-between his tiny five year old hands and channels a bit of his mana into, luckily for him it's not as hard as controlling his dantian.

The orb lights up and a blinding silver light lips out.

"Well it was obvious you'd have my lightning at least, though I'm kinda offended by your affinity with it being way better than mine which shouldn't be possible. But since you're my son, I guess it's only natural for you to be the best, now I wonder if you have any.... what?!"

Igneel's statement was halted by what he was seeing. After the silver light fades, a golden holy light that's a lot more tame is shown. What shocked Igneel about this scene is that the holy element is one of the rares of all the elements.

It's uses range from purification to healing and it can make fighting even the strongest undead an easy task which it normally wouldn't be. Although his wife Grace has it, it's not an element that's usually inherited as it's rumoured to be a gift from the heavens.

"If I had a gold coin for everytime you made me say "what" since your birth, I think I'd be rather ric.....what?!"

Just as Igneel was lamenting how his son is always shocking him at every stage... he's shocked again.

The orb doesn't shine with any light this time, but what appears to be a mini black hole appears on it, luckily it doesn't seem to be sucking anything in.

"Freakin space element too!!, and what's with this bullshit affinity..cough ... I lost myself for a moment there, I shouldn't curse infront of my little son or Grace will have my head when she wakes up.

No Igneel was not over reacting, the space element was just as rare as the holy element and is arguably even more useful.

"So this brat basically absorbed everything me and Grace had huh, hehehe". Igneel's brain short circuited for a bit as a listless expression is shown on his face.

What he meant by the statement was how, he had lightning, Grace had holy and space, their son Max took all the elements they had. He even had better affinities with lightning and space which were way beyond them, not to mention his mana pool which was basically almost the same as his.

Igneel sighed in relief as no new element appeared or he might have really had a heart attack this time.

"Well, now that you're done with rending my heart, I guess we can get into the fun part... tossing lightning bolts at the residence of the forest."

"You see, casting a spell is simple, you just have to imagine what you want to do with your element. Then sacrifice mana to fuel the spell and boom, that's it. Your imagination has to be detailed for it to work, as well as have enough mana. If your imagination sucks like most people humans out there, you can seek guidance from others."

"There are exceptions to this however, like beasts of the forest, they all work on instinct. So they also instinctually cast their spells."

"We, devine beasts however although do have instinctual spells at the beginning, we also have the brain power to create our own."

"You as my son, I'm sure you can hack it, I'm going to show you a simple lightning bolt. I'm not going to tell you how to cast it however, you have to figure that out yourself."

Max could only nod as Igneel chattered away, he could tell that his father really liked instructing him. He could vaguely feel that he got even more chatty after Max grew dragon horns on his forehead (which were still there till now).

Igneel then held out his hand, pointed forward and...

"Bolt"

A little silver bolt came out of his finger and....

Boom!

An innocent tree that was minding it's on business, providing air was destroyed (not an unfamiliar story).

"Wow, so cool". Max's eyes sparkled, till now Igneel hadn't done anything magical other than sealing his dantian so Max really was amazed. It was at that moment it really set in that he had moved to another world were magic is real.

It excited him greatly, he didn't have a reason to miss Earth anyway, he was an orphan who grew up getting abused in an orphanage since childhood after all.

So Igneel and Grace were the only parents he ever knew, seeing his chatty, coming and loving father doing something so cool really warmed his heart.

"Now you try". Igneel said while striking a cool pose(in his head) noticing that he had impressed his son.

"Okay, I'll do my best". Max said as he closed his eyes and concentrated.

"Wait, you'll do what?!, no do.."

"Bolt!"

Before Igneel could finish talking, Max held out his hand and meter thick bolt of lightning appeared in front of his hand and struck forward.

The bolt razed all the trees in front of it for half a kilometre.

"Sigh, I should have known". Igneel just hung his head low as he covered his eyes with his hand.

Max looked a him with an embarrassed look on his face.

"Oops, my bad, sorry father"

"I'm sure it will grow back"

"Shut up!...oooh Grace, will you wake only after I go bald because of this kid?". Igneel wailed while looking at the clear path on the mountain Max created.
