Chapter 32 - The Goddess's Gift

I slowly peeled my eyes open.

I was greeted with the familiar view of the wooden beams in my cottage, the cottony coolness of my pillows caressing my face and a stifling heat raiding my lower body. I freed my body of its blanket confine, the air kissing my salted skin and only then did I notice the soft breathing of someone else in the room with me.

Silas was seated on a chair—must be his cause I didn't have one, the furniture an inadequate fit for his big body to sleep in. His head hung to the side and his mouth fell slightly open.

His face softened by sleep called to a part of me, and then my encounter with the goddess rushed through my head in disjointed images. I let the body part fall into my open hands, my fingers trailing gently through my hair, seeking the comfort hers had given.

There was a headache budding there.
