After a while of fondling with her marshmallows, Kaelen finally let go as Velora finally collapsed to the ground, her face red with shame.
Kaelen gave her a wide grin as he awaited his reward from the System. After a while a notification from the System came.
"Ding!!"
[Host has completed task]
[Host has received the following rewards]
[Wind Magic>Lv3, Strength >Lv3, Speed >Lv3]
[Remminder: Host can use obtained Points to level up]
Kaelen read the notification with a smile on his face. The System knew exactly what he was lacking in. Back on earth Kaelen never really went to the gym, so he was lacking behind in his strength aspect.
He proceeded back into the castle after a while of watching his abused sister.
As he got into the castle, he was greeted by a figure which he knew very well.
A worried expression was cast over his face as he saw his mom; Kaelen's mom standing by the corner of the doorway.
Seraphim Nightshade, the wife of Silver Nightshade, his father.
Seraphim was his mother in this world, and let's say she was more like a strict teacher than a mother.
Kaelen's heart skipped a bit as he saw his mother stand by the doorway, almost as if she had been waiting for him.
Did his mother see what he did to Velora? Was she there the whole time? How long was she watching them? These were some of the questions Kaelen asked himself. But he couldn't come up with any answer.
He tried pretending, he didn't notice her. He walked right passed her as she didn't seem to care if something was there. After he was a few feet away from her, he felt a wave of relief within him. But that was soon replaced by anxiety.
"You seemed to have improved your magical abilities" Seraphim spoke in a neutral tone.
Kaelen immediately stopped in his tracks as he heard his mother's voice. For some reason he felt fear towards her. Though, he wasn't sure why he should be afraid. What she had just said was proof that she watched their entire battle and the sinful act he did with his sister.
"Follow me" Seraphim said as she walked down the hallway.
Kaelen felt his heart stop for a moment. Why did she call him? What did she want to talk about? Would he be punished for committing an act of incest towards his sister? Kaelen couldn't stop thinking of all the bad possibilities that might occur.
He watched as she walked down the hallway and quickly followed her. He tried to maintain a pace few meters behind her.
Kaelen knew the direction which they were headed, her private chambers. They continued to walk for some minutes. During that time Seraphim causally took glances at Kaelen, her face devoid of emotions.
Kaelen tried his best not to make eye contact. As they finally got to the her private chambers, she signaled for Kaelen to come inside.
Kaelen gulped down hard on his saliva before entering the room. On entering, Kaelen was shocked by how neatly arranged the room was. It was a lot more bigger than his. Her bed rested in the in the center of the room with large sofas that surrounded it. Her wardrobe rested at the both sides of her bed. Furthermore she had a closet which Kaelen could only conclude was filled with different royal accessories.
Kaelen's eyes wandered round the room for some moments, before coming back to his mom, making him realize why she called him.
If you're wondering why she had a private chamber. Seraphim was a woman who liked her privacy. Though, she was married, she maintained a space between she and her husband. Kaelen couldn't understand why they couldn't just share a room. But then again, every home had the way it worked.
"Have your seat" Seraphim said, this time with a smile echted on her face.
Kaelen was a bit confused by this, but took his seat anyways as he rested on a sofa.
Silence lingered in the air for some minutes, before Kaelen finally broke it.
"Umm...mother..you called me. Is there anything you wish to discuss" Kaelen spoke, breaking the awkward silence between them.
Seraphim was suddenly drawn back from her thoughts. She glanced at him before returning her gaze back at the floor.
Kaelen noticed this as he wondered why his mother looked so bothered.
"Kaelen..." she began.
"I watched the battle between you and Velora.."
As soon as Kaelen heard this his felt a wave of anxiety and guilt wash over him. He remained silent as he knew that she must have watched the intimate encounter between him and his sister.
"I must say, your combat skills have improved. You now have control over your divine skill" Seraphim said in a soft tone.
Kaelen was a bit confused by her statement. He thought she had called him here to discuss about the punishment he'd received from committing such an abominable act with his sister.
He cast her a confused look as he noticed that she was as cold and strict as she usually was.
Kaelen made no comments as he stared at her with confusion.
"Have you ever considered on improving your skills even more?" Seraphim spoke in a soft tone.
Kaelen wasn't sure where she was heading with this conversation.
"What do you mean mom?" He was forced to ask.
"I mean, why not try enroll at the academy?" Seraphim spoke in a firm tone.
Kaelen wondered if that was why she called him. Ofcourse he was going to enroll at the academy. Where else would he find the a nest of highly skilled warriors waiting for him playing the role of a snake to sink his fangs in them. Moreover, he needed to be at the academy to learn how to improve his magical and physical abilities if he was ever going to ascend to the top.
"Why, ofcourse mom...I've actually been thinking of enrolling at the academy. I would've talked to dad about it, but since you brought it up, i guess I'll have to discuss it with you" Kaelen spoke in a firm tone.
"A..are you sure??" Seraphim asked as she glanced him a confused expression mixed with curiosity.
Kaelen wondered why she was behaving weird lately. The Academy of Magic was a school where young gifted are taught to hone and improve their skills, physically and mentally. Though, the academy was not for the faint hearted. Once enrolled, you are not allowed to leave. The school is officially your parent till you graduate. Demonic entities, dangerous quests and hard challenges await the students who try to enroll.
Mostly 50% of students die every year from the dangerous task given. The academy is said to be the place that hosts more deaths every year than any Dungeon or Ruin on Vaeloria. So it would be ok for someone to be worried after asking you to enroll in such a place.
Kaelen knew the risks involved and was ready to face them on. He wondered if that was why his mother had a troubled look on her face.
"Ofcourse mom, where else am i supposed to improve my magical and combat skills?"
