The whole council fell silent upon hearing the boys statement.
If the barrier was broken, it would mean that thr enemy was already in the house.
"W..we've never thought about that kind of situation. Aurelthar is homed to the strongest spell casters on Vaeloria....."
"I strongly agree with your claim, but right we have to consider the possibilities, Duke Farren" Kaelen cut him off immediately.
The duke felt a bit humiliated by this, but kept his cool as the discussion continued.
"What percentage of guards are left?" Silver spoke up.
"Allow me to answer that. Based on the recent happenings, our soldier count is down by 50%, which immensely low" a blonde haired lady behind the boy's father spoke.
Kaelen wondered why he hadn't noticed the lady before. She was extremely beautiful as she wore a perfect set of corporate suit. Not like the one on earth, but a black leather jacket and black leather jeans. Vaeloria had more fashion than the famous maniacs back on Earth, who wore rags in the name of fashion.
"Hmm...how about positioning female warriors to make up for the lost soldiers." Velora finally spoke up.
"That would do, but...we have only a limited amount of trained female warriors. The others are still in training, my lady." The blonde haired girl spoke in a neutral tone.
Kaelen couldn't stop admiring how beautiful the lady was, but soon came back to the topic at hand.
"Can't we reinforce the walls with magic?" Kaelen asked.
"Well, technically the walls are made up of some elements which make them resistant to magic." Seraphim spoke.
'There are elements resistant to magic? I thought magic was compatible with every element?' Kaelen pondered on this new information.
If what she said was true, that means that there are things that magic can't penetrate.
"But, what about the Dark Grimoire?" Velora spoke.
Dark Grimoire? What was that? Was that some magic book for spells?
Kaelen rattled through his memories, but found no information about a Grimoire of sort.
"We can't!" Silver said in an annoyed tone.
"If i may ask. What is this 'Dark Grimoire' " Kaelen asked with a curious expression etched on his face.
Velora cast him a confused look but soon remembered that it was a secret in which only nobles were aware about.
"The Dark Grimoire is a spell book said to contain powerful spells from ancient times. The book contains spells which are powerful enough to dominate cites and start wars.."
Kaelen adjusted his sitting position as he listened to her every word attentively.
"The book comes with a tremendous amount of power, but also a great amount of darkness. It's not like your normal spell. It requires a positive mind to cast the spells contained in that book. It's power alone is enough to drive one to the verge of insanity." Velora spoke.
Kaelen shivered a bit upon hearing this. There was a such a powerful book like that.
'I need to get my hands on that book' Kaelen thought, filled with determination.
From the way the Council behaved it seemed like it wasn't a topic that should be discussed so openly. So Kaelen held his questions at bay for the time being.
"What about the new recruit? We could use them to increase our military capacity" Kaelen said breaking the awkward silence in the room.
"Well, that could work. But our the recruits we have now wouldn't be able to meet up to the current loss of soldiers. The number of recruits we have now are a hundred and seventy five. That's thrice the amount of soldiers we've lost in the past few months." The lady behind his father spoke in a firm tone.
"It would just be for the mean time. It's not like we're permanently assigned them a new position. Just until we're able to find the cause of the missing guard." Kaelen replied.
"Young Heir i do not believe that they are ready to be put on the field" The lady spoke in a firm tone while stating her claim.
Kaelen couldn't deny the fact that she spoke the truth. Putting untrained warriors on the field might lead to more harm than good.
"What do you think father?" Kaelen asked as he had no conclusions for the case.
Silver remained silent as he was considered their proposal.
It was true that putting inexperienced guards on duty was sure to bring more problems. He could've just assigned them as he knew that danger was still lurking afar. But then again the city would be completely defenseless against any threat that may show up.
Silver pondered on this for a minute before he finally made his judgment.
"I agree with Kaelen. We can't just leave our gates unguarded. But then again we would need some experienced soldiers to be on watch. Therefore, female warriors would have to be put on guard. " Silver stated.
The whole room went silent for a minute before the discussion continued.
Kaelen felt a bit of pride that his claim was considered. But, it was the right call
No one would want a surprise attack from other nations.
After a while, a plan was made to counter this issue.
The council was disbanded. Kaelen proceeded on his way to getting his hands on that grimore.
He would need to acquire the power it contained.
Before the meeting was over, Kaelen made sure to get some information from Velora.
It turns out that the book is protected by his own family. Only permitted individuals of Kaelen's household knew where it was located.
With the information gotten. Kaelen concluded that the book had to be kept somewhere secret in the castle, and he was going to find it.
The only problem now was how. Velora knew very little about the ancient book. It seemed to be kept away from even some members of the family.
But that wasn't a problem
If he was going to get the information he needed. The first place to look would be the castle library.
