Chapter 28 - Chapter 28: Kaeya's Secret Mission - Pokémon Adventures

The morning light poured through the high windows of the Knights of Favonius headquarters, casting long shadows across the office. Kaeya leaned back in his chair, absentmindedly playing with Zorua, who had taken a liking to his desk as a perfect nap spot. The little fox Pokémon had made itself comfortable, curling up on Kaeya's official documents without a care in the world.

Kaeya sighed, his lips curling into an amused smile as he attempted to nudge Zorua off his paperwork. "Come on, Zorua, I need to look at those," he said, giving the Pokémon a gentle push.

Zorua huffed, giving Kaeya a mischievous glare before hopping off the stack of papers and shifting its form, suddenly transforming into a miniature version of Kaeya, complete with the eyepatch and all.

Kaeya laughed out loud, his eyes narrowing in amusement. "Oh, you really like to mess with me, don't you? I'll have to be careful, or you'll be giving out orders in my place soon enough."

Just then, the door to his office swung open, revealing Lisa, who walked in with her usual relaxed demeanor. She raised an eyebrow at the sight of the two Kaeyas, one of them much smaller and furrier than the other.

"Good morning, Kaeya," she said, her voice laced with humor. "Or should I say... both of you?"

Kaeya gestured to the transformed Zorua, who quickly reverted back into its true form, hopping onto Kaeya's shoulder with a smug expression. "Morning, Lisa. I'm just having a bit of trouble with my little partner here. It seems Zorua's taking its role as a trickster quite seriously."

Lisa chuckled, setting down a stack of books on Kaeya's desk. "Well, that's what you get for choosing such a mischievous Pokémon. Though I must say, it suits you quite well." She eyed Zorua, who gave her a playful smirk.

Kaeya stood up, stretching his arms before turning to Lisa. "Actually, since you're here, I was wondering if you might want to accompany me on a little... secret mission. Something to do with the new Pokémon shop."

Lisa tilted her head, a spark of curiosity igniting in her eyes. "A secret mission, you say? I'm intrigued. What are we up to today, Kaeya?"

Kaeya grinned. "I've heard some interesting things from Amber about this Hiroshi fellow and the Pokémon he's introducing to Mondstadt. I think it's about time we gather more information—for the good of the city, of course. Plus, I think it's high time you got yourself a partner too."

Lisa put a finger to her lips, her eyes glinting with amusement. "Oh, I see. So this is more of a personal errand, is it? Well, who am I to turn down a chance to explore something so fascinating? Lead the way, dear Cavalry Captain."

---

The streets of Mondstadt were already bustling by the time Kaeya and Lisa made their way towards Hiroshi's shop. Zekrom stood at the entrance, its massive form still drawing the awe of passersby, who gave it a wide berth despite its calm demeanor.

Hiroshi was at the counter, chatting with a few curious citizens about Pokémon care when he noticed Kaeya and Lisa approaching. He gave them a welcoming smile, Zekrom nodding its head in acknowledgment.

"Welcome, Captain Kaeya, Miss Lisa. What brings you two to my humble shop today?" Hiroshi greeted them warmly.

Kaeya leaned against the counter, giving Hiroshi a lazy grin. "I've heard quite a bit about this place from Amber, and I figured it was time I paid a proper visit. And Lisa here is interested in meeting a partner of her own."

Lisa smiled, giving a small nod. "I must say, I'm quite curious about these wonderful creatures. I've seen how Amber and Jean have bonded with their Pokémon, and I think it's time I experienced it for myself."

Hiroshi clapped his hands together, his eyes lighting up. "That's wonderful to hear! Let's see... I think I have just the partner for you, Miss Lisa. Someone who matches your... particular aura." He walked over to a shelf lined with Poké Balls, selecting one and handing it to Lisa.

Lisa took the Poké Ball, her eyes shimmering with curiosity. "I wonder what kind of partner is waiting for me," she murmured, releasing the Pokémon inside.

In a flash of light, a small, ghostly figure appeared. It had a purple body and a wide, mischievous grin—a Misdreavus. The Pokémon floated in front of Lisa, its eyes curious as it inspected her.

Lisa chuckled, her eyes meeting the Misdreavus's. "Oh, aren't you just darling? You have such an intriguing aura," she said, reaching out to gently touch the Pokémon. Misdreavus cooed happily, floating around Lisa before resting on her shoulder.

Kaeya laughed, clearly amused. "A Ghost-type for the librarian. Fitting, wouldn't you say?"

Lisa gave Kaeya a playful glare. "I think it's perfect. Misdreavus and I are going to get along quite well, aren't we, dear?"

Misdreavus gave a cheerful cry, nodding in agreement. Hiroshi smiled at the sight, feeling the satisfaction that always came when someone found their perfect Pokémon partner.

---

The rest of the day was spent in the city plaza, where Kaeya and Lisa decided to demonstrate their new Pokémon partners to some of the local citizens. A small crowd had gathered, curious about the new creatures that had arrived in Mondstadt.

Kaeya stood in the middle of the plaza, Zorua by his side, while Lisa remained at the edge, her Misdreavus floating playfully around her. The townsfolk watched in awe as Kaeya gave a command to Zorua, who promptly transformed into a perfect replica of Kaeya himself, causing the crowd to erupt in laughter.

"Ladies and gentlemen," Kaeya said, gesturing to Zorua, "meet my partner, Zorua. As you can see, it's quite the trickster, just like me." He gave a wink, prompting more laughter from the crowd.

"And this," Lisa added, her voice smooth as ever, "is Misdreavus. She may look a little spooky, but she's just as sweet as can be." Misdreavus giggled, swirling around Lisa and causing a few children to giggle in delight.

Kaeya smirked, looking towards Lisa. "How about a little demonstration, Lisa? I'm sure the good people of Mondstadt would love to see what our partners can do."

Lisa raised an eyebrow, a sly smile playing on her lips. "Oh, a challenge, is it? Very well, Kaeya. Misdreavus, why don't you show them your Spite?"

Misdreavus's eyes glowed for a moment before it let out a playful cry, releasing a shadowy energy that swirled around Kaeya—not enough to harm, just enough to startle. Kaeya jumped back, a dramatic expression of shock on his face.

"Alright, alright! I yield!" Kaeya laughed, raising his hands in surrender. The crowd cheered, thoroughly entertained by the display. Zorua shifted back to its original form, looking quite pleased with itself.

Lisa gave Kaeya a smirk. "Not so tough now, are we, dear Cavalry Captain?"

Kaeya shrugged, still smiling. "I think I'll have to be more careful around you two from now on."

---

As the sun began to dip below the horizon, the crowd slowly dispersed, leaving just Kaeya, Lisa, Hiroshi, and their Pokémon in the plaza. Hiroshi watched as Lisa and Misdreavus shared a quiet moment, the Pokémon curling around her as she spoke to it softly.

Kaeya approached Hiroshi, his expression thoughtful. "You know, I have to admit, Hiroshi. I wasn't sure about all of this at first. But seeing how people here in Mondstadt are bonding with these Pokémon... I think you're really onto something."

Hiroshi smiled, nodding. "Thank you, Kaeya. It's all about the bonds we create. Pokémon aren't just creatures—they're partners, friends. I'm glad you're seeing that now."

Zekrom, who had been watching from the sidelines, rumbled in agreement. "Companionship is a powerful force. It can bring people together, make them stronger. This city has a good heart. I believe Pokémon will thrive here."

Kaeya looked at Zekrom, a smile tugging at his lips. "You're quite wise, aren't you? I think Mondstadt is lucky to have you around."

Zekrom nodded, its gaze turning towards the setting sun. "We are all here for a purpose. And I believe our purpose here is just beginning."

---

As the day ended, Kaeya and Lisa walked back towards the headquarters, their Pokémon by their sides. The streets of Mondstadt were calm, the sky painted in hues of orange and pink. Lisa glanced at Kaeya, a playful smile on her lips.

"You know, Kaeya," she said, her voice teasing, "I think you might have met your match today. Zorua may be a trickster, but Misdreavus and I aren't ones to back down from a challenge."

Kaeya laughed, shaking his head. "Oh, I'm well aware, Lisa. But that just makes it all the more fun, doesn't it? Besides, I think Zorua and Misdreavus are going to get along just fine—just like us."

Lisa smiled, nodding. "Indeed. To new adventures, Kaeya. And to the bonds we're creating."

Kaeya looked down at Zorua, who gave him a sly grin. "To new adventures," he echoed, feeling a warmth in his chest as they continued down the street, their Pokémon partners at their side, ready for whatever lay ahead.
