Chapter 3: Adjustments (Ava's POV)
Days blurred together as I adjusted to my new life. Kael's pack was rough, but they seemed to respect him.
One evening, while walking in the forest, I stumbled upon Kael. He stood beneath the moon, his eyes closed.
"What are you doing?" I asked.
"Communing with the moon," he replied, opening his eyes.
I sensed a deep connection between Kael and the moon.
"You're not like other werewolves," I said.
Kael's gaze locked onto mine. "And you're not like other captives."
I felt a flutter.
As we walked back to the pack's den, I noticed subtle changes in Kael's behavior. He was more relaxed around me.
"Kael?"
"Yes?" He answered
"Why did you take me?" I asked
Kael's expression turned serious. "You're valuable, Ava. Your bloodline holds power."
"What power?" I asked confused
Kael's eyes seemed to hold secrets. "You'll learn soon enough."
The pack's den came into view. Ryker waited, his eyes narrowed.
"Ava, you're getting too comfortable," Ryker sneered.
Kael stepped forward. "Leave her be, Ryker."
Ryker backed down but not without a sneer and glared at me.
As the days passed, I grew stronger. My senses sharpened.
One full moon, I joined Kael and the pack for a run. The forest was alive with magic.
Kael's gaze met mine. "You're one of us."
In that moment, I felt a sense of belonging.
But Ryker's resentment grew.
"Ava's a threat," Ryker whispered to Kael.
Kael's expression darkened. "She's under my protection."
Ryker's eyes flashed with anger.
I sensed a storm brewing.
The pack's dynamics were complex.
Kael's leadership was tested,
And I was caught in the middle.
