Chapter 7: Unraveling Secrets
(Kael's POV)
Ava's curiosity about Elara stirred something within me.
Memories I'd long suppressed resurfaced.
"Elara was a powerful witch," I began. "She foresaw the future, guided our pack."
Ava's eyes widened.
"A seer?" she asked.
I nodded.
"Elara predicted the Moonwhisper pack's downfall."
Ava's expression turned solemn.
"What happened?"
I hesitated, unsure how much to reveal.
"Ryker's family, the Nightwalkers, sought to overthrow the Moonwhispers."
Ava's gaze locked onto mine.
"And Elara stood in their way?"
I nodded.
"Ryker's father, Victor, killed Elara."
Ava's face paled.
"I'm sorry, Kael."
My heart swelled with emotion.
No one had ever apologized for my loss.
(Ava's POV)
Kael's pain was palpable.
I sensed a deep connection between us.
"Kael, why did you take me?" I asked.
Kael's eyes narrowed.
"You're the key to breaking the curse."
"Curse?"
Kael's voice dropped to a whisper.
"The Moonwhisper pack's downfall was foretold. Elara's prophecy—"
"Elara's prophecy?" I repeated.
Kael's gaze locked onto mine.
"You're the last Moonwhisper heir."
I felt a shiver run down my spine.
"What does that mean?"
Kael's expression turned serious.
"You hold the power to restore balance."
Restore balance?
Between packs?
Between supernatural forces?
"Kael, I don't understand."
Kael's eyes seemed to hold secrets.
"Your family's legacy, Ava. It's time you knew."
As Kael's words hung in the air, I sensed a weight shifting onto my shoulders.
A responsibility I couldn't ignore.
"Tell me more," I urged.
Kael's jaw clenched.
"Victor Nightwalker seeks to exploit the Moonwhisper pack's weakness."
"For what?"
Kael's voice turned cold.
"Power. Control. Dominance."
I felt a surge of determination.
"I won't let that happen."
Kael's gaze locked onto mine.
"Together, we can stop him."
Together.
The word echoed in my mind.
Was I ready to trust Kael?
Was I ready to face my destiny?
