Chapter 18 - A stone throw away

Nightsky was true to their namesake. They typically worked at night, and (at least initially) their presence was really hard to discover. They did good work until they didn't: as a client you'd have a 50% chance of it working out perfectly, and 50% of an absolute mess that nonetheless accomplished the mission. You had to hope you were lucky. And they hoped the same for themselves.

The orders from Symyth were clear: Find the secret passage and capture Reilynn Reia Largengarten without being discovered. For them, finding the passage wasn't hard: they had insider information, so they knew where to search. They did run into a problem, though: the passage only opened from the other side. They tried many methods to open it: attacking it with magic (it absorbed it like it was hungry), trying to pry it open with hooks (it didn't budge) and attacking it with weapons (didn't even make a dent). But then, Unnus stepped forward.

He was tall, with a shaved head and spectacular physique, and he knew it, so he'd rather not hide it under a shirt so he refused to wear any. He smiled as he advanced towards the door and tried to push it open. At first, it seemed useless, but then he got serious. It started with the sound of rock against rock, and then slowly, but surely, the door moved to the side, revealing a passage.

Unnus smiled. No door would match his strength. His small yet capable team stepped forward.

Rei wanted to experiment on the armor again. She hated she had to sneak out to do so, but she couldn't keep the armor on her room and risk the servants snitching to her mother. So, late at night, she headed for the hidden room. When she was about to grab the armor again, the noise of grinding stone caught her ears. Did someone enter the passage from the exit?! She prepared herself, excited to finally face bandits in real combat.

Wuwu couldn't sleep. His body was bruised and he couldn't get comfortable. He got up and went outside. Maybe the cool wind air might help a bit. Then, he heard a loud noise. He grabbed his sword and dashed to it.

Rhea was training on how to control the sword. It did follow her orders, but it was very inaccurate sometimes, and other times it just didn't. As such, she had stayed late to figure it out. She was surprised when the sword flew to her hands, suddenly, and seemed to pull her somewhere. She decided to follow it.
