"Don't be scared, I don't bite."
" That's what they say in your stories that we bite, right."
" That's a Vampire, they say you are some kind of a saviour."
"The Tranquilis. Right."
"Yes."
I was speaking my outdated language but he understood me perfectly. It was nice that I did not have to bite my tongue while trying to speak modern language inorder for him to understand.
His skin colour changed to black, I had no idea was his skin colour really was. I had heard that there were some of them who had a skin that could glow but not one that could change skin colour.
"Everything you are saying here is an illusion which exists in your mind just like a dream."
He must have seen the confused facial expression that I made seeing from everything that was around me or he knew that what he was doing could confuse anyone who was there. I looked around to see what else was there. There was a river few meters behind me and mountains which surrounded the area together with the field of flowers.
" Sit down "
Their was a chair which had appeared behind me. He conjured another chair for himself and we both sat down. He explained how the it worked since I was still confused. By using their powers, souls could spiritually connect in a new realm despite their physical bodies being in two different realms. They were the only ones capable of establishing that connection. But when it came to who could manipulate how it looked, everyone in it was able to with a little concentration.
He gave me instructions on how I could manipulate it myself. It was a piece of cake since within a few minutes I managed to change the place to look like my dream room filled with a lot of trophies of an adventurer. I did not care whether I was dead or alive because being in that room was the best thing that had happened that day. I was on a cloud nine despite the fact that the room was just a mere illusion, I felt as if I had made a lifetime breakthrough that day.
"I have a deal for you."
I wanted to ask him whether I was dead or not but he broke my words. Also most of the stories when you got shot and woke up in a strange place, the deal you are offered is that of a reincarnation, so I did not bother asking him. I went straight to asking him what I had to do in return.
"You are not dead yet, human."
"I am about to die then."
"Accept my deal and I will save you, human. Not only will you be saved but you will also get magical abilities."
It must have been one of the Tranquilis duties to give a magical abilities to Veilkins so that they could fight for what was theirs. It was a good deal that I couldn't deny but since I had not heard what he wanted in return I was having second thoughts. Indeed saving the village was going to be a little easier with the new power I was to obtain but given that he had reached to me then a lot of other people had already denied him maybe after hearing what he wanted in return.
"The others must have already denied since you have reached to me."
"What others."
" You must have first reached to Veilkins that are strong and believe in the Tranquilis."
"I am only interested in rare people of your kind."
"What Kind."
"I like humans like you, those that are resilient and do not lose hope, always looking forward to a better future unlike all of the people from your village who are hang up on thinking that fixing what went wrong in the past is the only way to fix things. You are different, you look forward to what you can fix in the future even now you are seeing the potential of having the magical abilities in your hands."
It was a nice thing hearing someone appreciating the part of my personality that I did not know I had. I did not understand how he was able to know what was going on in my mind, if it was a nexis kind of thing then why was I not hearing his thoughts then.
"It is the FINITAS of the Affectis, we are able to read emotions and feelings of others, that is how I found you in the human world radiating hope and I did not want to leave you human to die and I have never been interested in the physical strength of a human."
FINITAS was a special power that the Dulcimortis were born with. Affectis had a Finitas of reading feelings and emotions of people and as mentioned earlier the glowing skin was the Finitas of the COLLECTARA. I had read about this in one of my books.
Adding the H word to every one of his sentences was pissing me off. If he was reading my emotions he must have been doing it to get on my nerves. I endured it and asked him what he wanted in return for the abilities. He told me that his type of Dulcimortis did not have the senses as that of humans. That is I had to give him the senses corresponding to the number of abilities that I wanted. He gave me a chance to critically make my choice and said that I could reject it if I wanted to.
I did not want to reject the offer. The abilities was the thing I needed in order to make up for my mistakes to save the people this time for really. I had to consider the significance of the each of the senses in battle. Hearing and seeing were beneficial so they were excluded. And if in some way I ended up in a place I didn't know, I could need to smell the surrounding. That left the sense of touch and taste. They were both inapplicable in battle, I mean you cannot taste your enemy and if you don't see them you can at least hear them coming. Most enemies touch you with a weapon dealing damage to the skin, there is not much touching going on. I had to compare their significance in other fields. I ended up choosing the to give up the sense of touch since food had to be concerned. I had rushed making the decision even though I was told to take my time.
"I will give you my sense of touch."
"Are you sure, human."
"Very sure."
He gave me final advices, not about the abilities or senses. It was about my lack of forethought and patience. He gave me an example from that morning, If I had carefully analysed the situation I could have seen the men teleporting around and not just base things on my lame logic. He did not have to tell me that though, I was filled with guilty and was looking forward to finding steps I should took to fix my weakness.
He told me to close my eyes and leave them like that until he finished his chants which were that of a language which was dead in our world or never existed in the first place. He was done with the chants and told me to open my eyes. He looked surprised as if something unexpected had happened after the process. I could tell from his mouth and composure.
"Did it fail."
