I ended up teleporting into that weird room again. Everything was the same as I had left it. I swapped my shirt with the cloth since it was producing an awful foul smell.
After a minute had passed, I teleported back into the stall. The invaders had gone to search somewhere else. I was so tired and weak from all of those running and teleporting that I could no longer move a muscle and I fall a sleep in the stall.
I woke up with the loud chiming sound echoing around the market. It was coming from a gigantic warning device with a built in alarm clock. It's main use was to be switched on in case the market was under attack. It also had a feature for announcements. It used the electrical energy that was made from Essentium. The sound was echoing all over the area, in most cases it reached the village if there was not much wind.
Before I got on my feet and continue the journey to my uncle's house, the owner of the stall was already in there and had found me lying their like a forgotten bag. I cleaned my eyes to see who he was thinking that maybe he was going to be a person from the village.
"Who are you." he asked " tell me before I call the security."
The voice was familiar and after cleaning my eyes I saw that it was my uncle. It must be that I slept and the frog's unlucky had worn off, I mean I found the person I was looking for without moving many inches. It was not a good thing yet, since he had not recognized me with how my skin looked. Normally if you are found in someone else's place without the exact words to explain yourself, you tremble in fear knowing that things were bad but that was not the case for me, I knew my uncle very well not only me but everyone in the village did, he was not going to call security after finding a pathetic kid sleeping in his stall, so I calmed down. That's how he always was, listening to what the other person had to say for their actions before making his own decision and judgement.
I told him who I was and he believed. He said he had recognized me after he had asked his question since that was when I was looking straight at his face and he added that "a relative is not mistaken even if their appearance change."
I told him everything that I went through including going to the Nexis and getting stuck in that room. He softened his eyes feeling sorry for me and the fact that his sister, my mother, was gone.
My stomach kept rumbling and he gave me food to eat. The food around their had additives that could speed up the regeneration of Enerflux. This type of food was mainly made for the farmer's and I never had to eat it since I was not a Mancer yet. He opened the window of the stall where the sales where done.I was busy stuffing myself with food like a total gluttony that I forgotten to ask him about the information.
Since I had told him my story, He begun telling his story.
"A week ago I went to the village for an post celebration since I was not present on the day of the anniversary, I had gone to area 2 for business. I was in the middle of the forest when these strange men were coming behind me. I made an escape into the village only to end up in their hands. The others were all tied up and all the women and children were not there except for those who are farmers. Their leader told us to continue our all our work as we always do and he was going to give us ten percent of the profits."
He stopped telling the story because a customer had approached. He was a regular customer who bought many things and came often more than any other customer. He had his own weird taste of fashion, he wore vintage clothes that looked like they were trendy centuries ago. He had a criticism look on his face. He took the products which he had pre-ordered. As soon as he was gone I asked a question.
"And you just agreed."
"I would never do that in a million years, in fact everyone denied it. He brought a woman from wherever they are hiding them. He threatened to kill the woman and all the others they are keeping. We were left with one option."
"To work non stop."
" As long as they are keeping them, we are bound to continue working even if we don't want to."
"Why aren't the fingers helping, I did see some yesterday in the market."
"The fingers are not what we used to know, they have lost their responsibilities and honor choosing money and power over protecting the peace of all citizens." he continued "I literary wish we had not started this trading thing, then nobody could have gotten jealous of us and we could continue living in peace. Don't you think."
"I think so." I responded hastily
"Look at us now, the elders were right all along. The outside world is just as we have always been told and it was safe in the village but that chance is gone now we can't take back the village and even if we managed to, they will probably keep coming for Essentium since we have been exposed to the world."
"But you go out there a lot."
"I may look like I like the traveling but everytime I leave this area, I wonder if I will not end up getting killed out there."
"Why do you go then."
"I was planning on making as much money as I could, so that I could settle down in the village without having to work again. But now that is crushed."
There it was, the lost hope of my people. Wishing to go back to that dump we used to live in. They were not even thinking of what would have been the result of the way we were living. We were lucky the outside world attacked us because with how things were, we could have ended up killing each other for the resources. Mtendere was the one who prevented that but they were defying his name in their minds. I could have understood them if they were at least wishing that we did not allow those investors inside the village.
He might have lost hope but I wasn't, in fact I had a plan in mind which was waiting for the right moment.
