As the sun dipped below the horizon, Beau and Kai sat in the empty classroom, books sprawled out in front of them. Kai slumped back in his chair, a frown on his face. He hated the thought of studying again. After all, he hadn't been great at academics in his past life, and now he had to face it all over again.
He glanced at Beau, who was completely absorbed in his book. Those blue eyes reminded Kai of the ocean, and his pure blond hair framed his face perfectly. Kai couldn't help but wonder if Beau's long eyelashes would tickle him if he got close enough.
"You're gonna pierce a hole through my face with the way you're staring," Beau said suddenly, breaking the silence.
Kai shrugged, a playful smile creeping onto his lips. "What do you expect me to do? It's just the two of us here, and the one in front of me is the one I have a crush on. I can't help it, you know."
"Why do you keep saying that?" Beau raised an eyebrow. "Do you like me that much?"
Kai met Beau's gaze, his heart racing. "I like you so much that I could do anything for you."
Beau looked stunned for a moment before bursting into laughter. "Oh really?"
After a brief pause, Kai asked, "Aren't you scared?"
"Scared of what?" Beau replied, still chuckling.
Kai leaned in closer, lowering his voice. "You see, I keep telling you that I like you. Now it's just us here. Aren't you scared I might make a move?"
Beau looked at him, a smile playing on his lips, but he returned his focus to the book.
"Oh hoh, are you underestimating me? You think I won't do anything?" Kai teased, moving his face closer to Beau's.
Beau glanced up, their faces inches apart, his eyelashes brushing against Kai's cheek. "What do you think you're doing?"
Kai was mesmerized by Beau's beauty, and without thinking, he closed the gap, their lips almost touching. Beau's eyes widened in surprise, and in that moment,
As Kai snapped back to reality, he quickly retreated to his seat, his heart still racing. "Oh man, yeah, I don't think I can do anything to you without your consent because that's really important, right?" He glanced at Beau, who seemed momentarily frozen.
Kai noticed Beau's ears turning a shade of red, and he couldn't help but chuckle softly. "Hey, are you blushing?"
But before he could tease Beau further, Beau stood up abruptly. "I think I'm done here," he said, gathering his things in a hurry. "I told you the topics for tomorrow's test, so you can study on your own. I'm leaving!"
"Wait, why are you in such a hurry?" Kai called out, but Beau was already out the door, leaving Kai staring after him in confusion.
"What was that just now? Did I really see Beau's ears turn red, or am I hallucinating?" he mused, scratching his head. "Oh shoot, I didn't even study yet!"
With a sigh, Kai turned his attention to the open book in front of him, determined to focus. "I can't believe I have to take tests again in this life too. Ugh, why is studying so hard?" He chuckled to himself, trying to shake off the earlier tension. "But hey, at least I get to share a classroom with Beau!"
