The week was gruling but they managed to finish the first three days without dying. Their determination helped them overcome obstacles that would take others many months to accomplish and the fey were impressed.
Welsher took Doric aside after the third day and they talked in his chambers alone. "Doric, I think it's time you start thinking about what ahead of you."
Doric looked confused. He realized he had not been thinking about anything except training more. "What do you mean?"
Smiling he pulled out a small gem. "The tree and its people are very old. We live much longer than you three could imagine. If we wanted to. We could train you until your very last days."
Welsher played with the gem in hand. "But that is not a good life for people like you. You need to explore the world more and see what it has to offer you."
Doric contemplated it for a bit. He agreed that they needed to leave this place eventually but a part of him enjoyed the safety they fey tree gave them. Before they met them they were running for their lives from humans and ghosts. "What do you suggest?"
Lifting the gem for Doric to look at it. He noticed that it seemed to glow with faint magical energy. He popped on his spell and looked it over.
Symbol- Space, Mana, Nature
Tags- Area of Effect, Touch, Transfer, Designation.
"Are you sending us somewhere?" Doric asked feeling a bit nervous.
"I would like to send you to another area that could use your help. I believe the three of you together can overcome many obstacles and the training these last three days tells me you guys are ready for this." Welsher commented as he handed the gem to Doric to add to his floating collection.
"Where are we going? What about the week of training?" Doric had so many questions. He was not ready to leave yet. He was not confident enough in his abilities. He also worried for his two companions.
"Take the next day off and rest your spirit. When you are feeling in top shape I will call you all to the throne room and we will begin the teleportation ritual. The people of this town really need help and you guys are just the right people for the job."
Doric followed Welsher out of the room. He had so many questions for him but Welsher did not seem like he was going to answer any of them. Doric retired to his room and summoned his book to the table.
He had not opened the book in a while and he wondered if Folia was getting lonely. He decided to open it and he saw in big letters. "Finally, this next chapter has been waiting for you for weeks now!"
He laughed a little and looked over the chapter.
Mission #3 complete
Reward- 100 Magic Power Level, 1 Mana Symbol Item, 2 Tags of your choice 1 spell using the tags and Symbols you currently possess.
Doric looked impressed he saw a black void appear in front of him and this time a small gatcha machine appeared before him. He looked at it closely and it had written on it. "Gatcha Items right here!"
"Ha, cute." He thought as he used his psychic powers to pull the lever. The device hummed to life and made a ding noise as a small container appeared in the slot. He grabbed it and opened it. Inside was a small round gem. It seemed to glow faintly.
Using his only spell he analyzed it.
Symbol- Mana
Tags- None
Oh, so this must be a catalyst. Welsher mentioned something like this in his lessons. I guess I should pick my tags next. Hmm, what ones should I get? I saw so many in the last few weeks that looked really good."
He continued thinking about what he already had. Cumulation and Investment. He thought of all of the other tags he had seen and remembered some stuff that Folia said weeks ago.
"I think I will pick, Absorb and Area of Effect." He stated firmly knowing that those mixed with the two he already had would give him everything he needed to absorb mana in the air around him.
"I will make the spell using the Mana Gem. I would like to combine the tags in this order.
Symbol- Mana
Tags- Absorb, Area of Effect, Cumulative, Investment."
With that, the gem in front of him began to glow bright. Once it was finished he looked it over and sure enough, it had the symbol and tags he asked for. He kept it in his floating stash.
He looked in the mirror at himself and saw that his power level had increased dramatically since being here. He was now nearing 4,000, which was a big step up from when he first arrived.
He smiled at his progress before he remembered to look at the book's next chapter.
Chapter 5 Extracting Mana Safely.
"So you want to learn how to extract mana safely. First off you need to have the tags, Absorb, Cumulative, Area of Effect, Investment and Self."
Doric read that last tag and his jaws dropped. "Wait the crystal is useless to me right now cause I can't absorb it!"
He continued reading. "Without the Self tag, the gem continues to grow in power and can even grow in size as it does. But without the Self tag, the energy is trapped in that ever-growing crystal."
Doric felt irritation that he had not felt in a while. "Now you tell me! So what do I do with it then!"
The chapter continued on for a while before getting to the part that mattered. "In order to absorb the mana from an object that does not have self on it you need certain tags. Can you guess what they are? If you guessed. Touch you are correct!
If you use the same tags but replace self with touch then you can absorb the mana in an object. Of course, be careful as absorbing too much mana too quickly can lead to an explosive result!

Doric looked at the next required mission to unlock the chapter and was surprised at it.
