Chereads / The Crown of Destiny / Chapter 6 - Earth Hole

Chapter 6 - Earth Hole

My head hurt, and I also felt dizzy, so I touched my head carefully where I felt a liquid. I looked at my hand, and the liquid was green.

"I thought it was blood." I breathed a sigh of relief.

I looked around and saw that I was in a small cave.

"That damn witch. Now I understand why kids are afraid of her."

I saw the hole where I had fallen, and I couldn't see an exit. I also noticed it was covered in that strange green liquid.

"How do I get back up?"

I thought about how to climb since the liquid was pretty slippery. After thinking for a moment, I saw the liquid begin to move, which really alarmed me.

I tried searching for an exit through the dirt until I saw a small hole. I tried sticking my finger in to see how deep it was, but it wasn't very deep; I could feel the other side.

I started kicking the wall, trying to break through, when I felt something fall behind me.

Slowly, I looked behind me and saw a strange gelatinous liquid of the same color as the liquid in the hole, which moved until I saw a strange stone.

"That's..."

The strange jelly started moving, and I realized what it was.

"A Slime."

The Slime looked at me and shot a liquid, so I dodged it as it melted the wall behind me.

"And it had to be an Acidic Slime."

Slimes are the weakest creatures, according to Alonso, but there are many different types, and the one I had to be most careful with was the Acidic Slime, which could melt armor in seconds.

He said Slimes are easy to defeat because their core is visible. If it's extracted or destroyed, the Slime dies.

I didn't have any weapons, so all I could do was dodge and try to get the core.

I started dodging the Slime's acid attacks, watching as it melted the wall until I had the idea of using it to melt the wall with a continuation.

I positioned myself against the wall until the Slime attacked. Dodging, I saw how the wall melted, and when I saw an exit, I jumped to get away from the Slime.

It was a long corridor, so I kept running, getting farther and farther from the Slime until I ran into a wall.

I looked and realized there was no other exit until I saw above, where there was a vertical climb.

"I'm going to have to climb."

I looked carefully at the climb, where above I could see a place that could be the path I could follow, possibly an exit.

I prepared for a moment and grabbed some rocks to try to climb slowly, which was difficult since I felt pain in my hands, and sometimes my feet slipped because I couldn't grab the rocks properly.

"T-This is complicated."

I kept climbing, feeling the incline increase, almost falling, but I managed to grab on.

I felt I could grab the rocks better, so I started climbing until I reached the top.

"What a strange thing. For your effort in life?"

I remembered that when I was quite young, I liked climbing trees to hide when some fools wanted to hit me because I didn't pay attention to them.

"It's been a while since I checked my skills. And I still don't master any of them." I sat down for a moment and looked at the tunnel behind me.

I lay on the ground and thought about this system.

I had obtained the Alchemist Subclass at the same time as I obtained the Minor Potion Creation Skill. It must have come from constant contact with Mireth, which is very powerful alchemy, as well as from reading that book to gain knowledge.

If that was the case, I just needed to keep repeating the same action until I could get a skill.

Just then, I felt a strange movement below me, and I saw the Slime was bigger and trying to climb.

"And I'm running from the weakest monster."

I quickly ran to find the exit as soon as possible. I reached another dead-end, which frustrated me, so I looked up, but there was nothing.

"Did I make a mistake?"

I kicked the wall and heard a hollow sound. I hit it again, and again, I heard that sound.

I started hitting it repeatedly until I saw a small hole form, then kept hitting it until the hole was big enough for me to enter.

I managed to get out into a place full of vegetation.

"What is this?"

I looked around. It didn't seem like I was outside since there was still a ceiling, but now it was full of nature, with plants that glowed, so it wasn't dark.

I saw some ingredients that weren't in the cabin, which was impressive because Grandma had a collection that could only be considered immense.

"Could this be Grandma's place?"

I walked a little further, trying to find an exit.

I spent several minutes trying to find an exit until I returned to the hole I had made. What I saw there left me confused. The core of the Slime was destroyed, which meant it had reached this place, but it had died.

I quickly looked around, trying to see if I noticed anything, but there was absolutely nothing.

I felt my heart pounding, so I ran immediately to any place far from that spot.

Furthermore, I felt strange. My heart was racing, I could hear my blood running through my veins, my lungs screaming, and I collapsed to the floor.

"What's happening?"

I felt like the world was spinning until I felt a pain in my left leg, which was bleeding from two holes.

I looked where I had been running, and a swarm of snakes was approaching.

'It must be thanks to Poison Resistance.'

I stood up a bit and began to escape as best as I could, still feeling pain in my leg, but the dizziness was fading, probably thanks to the Poison Resistance.

I was able to walk a bit better, so I kept moving farther, but reached another dead-end. I began hitting it, trying to break through. Nothing happened.

Eventually, I collapsed on the ground without strength. I started to crawl, listening to the snakes getting closer.

I looked back, and one snake was already close enough.

[Do you wish to save yourself?]

[I can save you. Just accept my help.]

I started hearing strange voices asking me to join them. I had no idea what they were talking about, but they sounded so... convincing.

I was about to respond when the snakes pounced on me, and everything froze.

"What do you think you guys are doing?"

I heard a strange voice, deep, dangerous, yet familiar, that made me tremble and feel relief at the same time.

Thinking of a gift for the inconvenience.

In an instant, everything returned to normal.

The snakes moved again, but before they could reach me, they all exploded in an instant.

"What happened?"

I watched as only a large pool of blood remained.

I tried to stand, but I was still weak from the poison.

Suddenly, my stomach hurt intensely, and I began vomiting. I looked at the vomit, and it was just blood.

I didn't know what to do, so I tried to pull out the ingredients I had in case I could make a potion, but I fell on top of the blood.

I tried to move, but I couldn't. I focused my gaze upwards, where I saw someone approaching.

"H-Help."

And everything went dark when I heard Grandma's voice.
