Chereads / The Crown of Destiny / Chapter 7 - A horrible gift

Chapter 7 - A horrible gift

I couldn't see anything. I tried to open my eyes, but it was impossible. I tried to move my hands, but that didn't work either.

I was just there. In the darkness.

Suddenly, I felt a burning pain in my left leg that grew stronger and stronger until it felt like it was going to melt off. I tried to scream, but even with that pain, I couldn't.

It kept burning for a long time until it slowly started to subside, accompanied by a feeling of relief that began to spread through my body.

That feeling relaxed me so much that I almost forgot I couldn't move.

I felt something soft start to move across my body, which left me confused. It started from the tip of my toe, moving up my leg, traveling across every inch of my body.

A chill ran down my spine as it passed through my back until it reached my head, where I felt it start to enter my mouth, making it impossible to breathe.

That strange thing began to move down my throat, as if it wanted to rip it out. That sense of relief quickly turned into one of suffering again as I couldn't breathe, and I felt something fading.

Something cracked. I felt my hand begin to move erratically as if something was breaking, and at that moment, every part of my body started moving in the same way.

Another part cracked. And another. And another. Slowly, I began to feel an overwhelming pain in every part of my body.

I wanted it to stop. I wanted it to end. I tried to scream, but it wouldn't stop.

And suddenly, everything disappeared.

I opened my eyes, seeing the bed in the cabin. I looked around, trying to figure out what had happened.

I touched my forehead, and it was covered in sweat, the same with my clothes.

I touched every part of my body, trying to see if anything was broken.

"It's... okay. Everything's fine," I said, somewhat relieved, but the pain still lingered.

I tried to understand why that had happened until the reason for my pain appeared right in front of me.

_______________

Due to previous external interference, a gift was considered for you.

The following symptoms were triggered in your body: Pain, Bone Fracture, Muscle Rupture and Drowning.

You will receive a bonus for each affliction you experienced.

Creating System Abilities: Minor Pain Resistance, Minor Bone Enhancement, Minor Muscle Enhancement, Minor Blood Enhancement, Minor Lung Enhancement.

_______________

"What?"

I looked at the screen, not understanding why it said that.

'External interference? Did that strange voice torture me for that?'

I wondered why they had made me suffer. I remembered they had said they were going to give me a gift for the external interference, but... torturing me to give it to me? That was too much.

I clenched my fist tightly, causing myself to hurt my hand, but I didn't feel any pain.

I looked at my hand, and there was the wound I had made with my nails. A bit of blood was trickling, so I wiped it a little, seeing that it no longer bled.

'A gift, my ass. This wasn't a gift. This was torture,' I thought, angry.

I punched my bed hard to try to get the anger out of me.

I kept punching my bed for several minutes until I got tired.

"I'd rather be tired than angry."

I didn't feel like checking what I had gotten, so I got out of bed, feeling my legs shaking a little.

I didn't understand why my legs were shaking since nothing was happening, so I kept moving, and my legs kept shaking.

Each step I took made my legs tremble, but I tried to ignore it until I reached the stairs.

I went down one step at a time, because with that shaking, I felt like I could fall at any moment.

After about 10 minutes, I reached the bottom floor, but I didn't see the grandmother or breakfast when I remembered something important.

"How did I get to the cabin?"

I didn't know how I had arrived since I had been in that hole I had fallen into, either by accident or caused by the grandmother, but there I was.

I went to the living room, and there was no one, so I sat on the couch, trying to figure out how I got there.

Vaelor eventually fell asleep on the couch. After hours, Mireth arrived and woke him up.

Mireth explained to Vaelor that he had arrived at a dangerous place through the earth hole, which was called the Little Paradise.

This place was created by nature, with a wide variety of plants, but it also had a variety of extremely venomous snakes.

She explained that because he had taken so long, she went to look for him and found him surrounded by snakes, so she killed them instantly to save him, but he was nearly dead due to the venom from one of the snakes. She gave him an Antivenom Potion and took him home.

She gave him several types of antidotes and Health Potions to save his leg, but he didn't wake up.

Mireth explained that he had been asleep for six months, which was shocking to Vaelor.

Mireth told him she was impressed that he could get out of bed after not moving for so long, but she was happy that he hadn't died.

"I'll go make you food so you can recover well," Mireth said.

"Alright. Thanks."

Vaelor thanked her, and Mireth went to the kitchen to make him something to eat.

'So that's why my legs trembled when I got out of bed.'

He waved his hand and brought up the status screen.

Vaelor saw what he had gotten, and it was quite impressive to see so many abilities together.

He wondered what to do next, but first, he needed to recover quickly to continue doing the rest of the things.

He saw the Minor Poison Resistance, which had increased quite a bit, which was normal after suffering from such a potent poison that almost killed him.

He looked at his leg, which no longer had the mark from the snake, but he noticed it was thinner, just like his fingers.

"I could read something."

He was about to look for something to read, but Mireth brought him food, so he put reading aside for later.

After eating, he was resting on the couch, so he went to find a book to read.

There were several books, some he had read, and others he hadn't. He was going to take the alchemy book to learn everything as Mireth had told him while he recovered.

When he was about to take it, he saw a different book he hadn't seen before.

'Is this new?'

He picked it up and took it to read.

"The Crown of Destiny. What a peculiar name."

Everyone who seeks treasures, remember that they were never the first.

Can you understand how marvelous it is?

Can you understand how dangerous it is?

Can you understand how intelligent it is?

Can you understand how realistic it is?

Can you understand how lost it is?

"Uh? What is this?"

He didn't understand anything it was saying, so he kept reading.

From the beginning of this world, there was a treasure so great, so marvelous, that it caused all beings of this world to fight to the death to obtain it.

The first generation died.

The second generation tried to transcend.

The third generation killed each other to transcend.

The fourth generation made sure it would never happen again.

The fifth generation hasn't arrived yet.

Do you want to be part of the fifth generation?

Then seek the greatest treasure.

Whoever obtains the Crown of Destiny can become the new god of this world.

Whoever obtains the Crown of Destiny will decide what happens in this world.

Whoever obtains the Crown of Destiny will either kill or save this world.

What are you waiting for?

Vaelor was left confused by what he had read.

"It must be a children's story."

He closed the book to return it to the bookshelf when a screen appeared in front of him.

_______________

Congratulations.

You have obtained the title: Seeker of the Crown of Destiny.

_______________

"Seeker? What the hell is this?"

Vaelor was left confused and looked at the book again.

"It's a children's book, right?"
