Chereads / THE SECRET PACT / Chapter 20 - CHAPTER 19

Chapter 20 - CHAPTER 19

THE SUN'S RAYS FILLED his entire room and served to wake him up. Without hearing the alarm clock, his sleep was only interrupted by the strong discomfort caused by the morning light, as he had forgotten to close the curtains last night, due to the unbearable tiredness he felt. He had slept soundly.

His wife had already left for work, so he was alone at home.

He woke up yawning, still not very balanced, but he was rested and ready for a new trail of investigations.

I just need a good bath to wake up...

Before going to the shower, he turned on the TV, already on his usual channel, CNN, and at a very high volume. It was his habit to bathe while listening to the news.

"...and he promises to make it an important Olympic sport! Will Bulletball one day be among the games? And now, new information about the marathon bombing..."

Gregory almost let the soap run into his eyes, he was paying attention to what he was hearing.

"... The case of Fadiq Al Faruj, the young man accused of the terrorist act on Sunday morning, made progress this morning. After a long interrogation with his family and cross-referencing of information found on his personal computer, the FBI declared that the accusation is almost proven. According to the information, Fadiq Al Faruj had become radicalized two years ago, after joining an Islamic group that has been recruiting young people throughout the country. There is little information about the origin of this group and which family it belongs to, but according to the CIA, the movement has been under investigation since the beginning of the year..."

Gregory almost fell in the bath from the jump he made.

What information was this?

"... The report shows that the family did not know the young man's intentions, but supported their son's radical position. According to his mother, Zareen Al Faruj, the family was aware of his more radical position, but did not know that her son would take such extremist actions. According to the information, both families should return to Iran within a few weeks. President Kenan Vaine will make another address today at eight o'clock."

When had the boy's mother ever said anything other than lamentations and prayers in Persian?

This was getting stranger and stranger...
