Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Acknowledged The Truth

Romeo watched as the girls disappeared from view, his brow furrowing deeper with a frown. Lisa's carefree laughter and smile had unsettled him.

Priscilla's face turned ugly with jealousy, her voice saccharine. "Romy, darling..."

She tried to grasp his arm, but he shook her off.

"Get out," he growled, his cold gaze piercing.

Priscilla's eyes widened, her face reddening.

"Don't dare follow me around again," Romeo warned. "I've fulfilled your request; now it's time for you to keep your word."

With that, he turned and walked away, leaving Priscilla seething.

Her eyes turned red-rimmed, her fists clenched. She watched Romeo's handsome figure disappear into the crowd.

"How dare she!" she muttered, venom in her voice.

Priscilla's thoughts swirled with malice. She'd make sure Selina paid for romeo dismissing her.

Meanwhile, Romeo's long strides carried him away from Priscilla's toxic presence. His mind, however, lingered on Lisa.

Why did she affect him so?

He couldn't shake the memory of her bright smile, her laughter.

I asked Emily and Sophia to wait for me by the school gate. "I forgot something in my locker. I'll be right back."

"Okay, no rush," Emily replied, checking her phone.

Sophia nodded. "We'll grab a spot under the oak tree."

I nodded and turned back towards the school building.

As I walked down the emptying hallway, I felt a strange sensation, like someone was watching me.

I glanced around, but saw no one out of the ordinary.

Shrugging it off, I continued to my locker.

After retrieving my book, I closed the locker and began walking back towards the exit.

That's when I saw him - Romeo, leaning against the wall, his eyes fixed intently on me.

My heart skipped a beat.

I composed myself and ignored Romeo's piercing gaze and walked away, my heart racing.

My legs felt wobbly, but I kept my pace steady, refusing to acknowledge him.

As I approached Emily and Sophia under the oak tree, they noticed my flushed face.

"Hey, what's wrong?" Emily asked, concern etched on her face.

Sophia's eyes darted towards the school building. "Did you see Romeo staring at you?"

I shrugged, feigning nonchalance. "I don't know what you're talking about."

Emily raised an eyebrow. "Lisa, we saw him watching you."

Sophia chimed in, "And you totally ignored him!"

I forced a laugh. "He's just...distracted, I guess."

My friends exchanged skeptical glances but dropped the subject.

As we walked home together, I couldn't shake off Romeo's haunting gaze.

...

Chris asked, confused, "Cold danger, what's the meaning of what you did today?"

"When did you and that Priscilla girl have something going on between you two?" he continued. "And why didn't we know about it?"

Romeo's glare intensified as his four friends bombarded him with questions.

"Romeo, what's going on?"

"Is Priscilla your new thing?"

"Why'd you blow her off like that?"

"Did you use her for something?"

Romeo's patience snapped. His cold, handsome face darkened.

"Enough," he growled, his voice low and menacing.

He turned and walked away, leaving his friends staring after him.

Chris called out, "Romeo, wait up!"

But Romeo didn't stop.

As he disappeared into the distance, Chris turned to the others. "What's gotten into him?"

Mike shook his head. "No idea, but Priscilla's got some nerve."

Tom chimed in, "And what's with Romeo's sudden interest in Selina?"

Their conversation faded into the background as Romeo vanished from sight.

Romeo's thoughts swirled with Selina's image, her carefree laughter, and Priscilla's scheming.

...

I walked home with Emily and Sophia, trying to shake off the feeling of Romeo's from my mind.

"Earth to Selina!" Emily teased, waving her hand in front of my face.

Sophia chuckled. "Lost in thought?"

l blushed. "Just tired, I guess."

But my friends knew better.

"Romeo's got your heart broken, forget about him we are not even up to there level," Emily whispered.

my heart beat rapidly in my chest. "I have already decided to do just that, how can he like someone from our poor circle."

Sophia raised an eyebrow. "We saw how he looked at you."

my mind replayed the moment: Romeo's piercing eyes, his chiseled features, and the flutter in my chest.

I couldn't deny it; Romeo's gaze had left me breathless.

As we parted ways at the corner, I couldn't shake off the feeling that Romeo was still watching me.

i trudged through the front door, exhausted from crying. i had thought i can be over Romeo, but seeing him with Priscilla had ripped open wounds.

"Hi, Mom," I said softly, forcing a weak smile.

my mom, concern etched on her face, asked, "Hey sweetie, how was your day?"

I shrugged, trying to brush it off. "Long day."

my mom noticed the redness in my eyes. "You've been crying. What's wrong?"

I shook her head, not wanting to relive the pain. "Just tired, Mom. I need a nap."

my mom nodded sympathetically. "Your dad's not home yet. He's working late. Go rest, okay?"

I nodded and headed to my room, collapsing onto my bed.

As i lay there, memories of Romeo flooded my mind – the way he used to glance at me the way he talks to me.

Tears pricked at the corners of my eyes again.

Why did I love someone who didn't love me back?

why did I fall in love with someone who is not our level?

why someone who I can't even dare to look up to.

my thoughts swirled with memories of Romeo, each one piercing my heart like a shard of glass. i had thought my dream will come to reality, but today's encounter proved otherwise.

Why did i still love someone who didn't love me back?

Tears streamed down my face as I acknowledged the truth: I had been living in denial.

i sat up, wiping away tears. i needed to face reality and stop daydreaming.

"Romeo's gone," i whispered to myself. "He chose Priscilla."

With a newfound determination, i began to reflect on her feelings.

What was it about Romeo that captivated me?

Was it his charming extraordinary beauty or the way he made me feel when he's eyes met mine?

Was I in love with the idea of him or the real person?

As i pondered these questions, i realized I deserved better.

i deserved someone who would love me back, without condition.

A spark of resilience ignited within me

"I'll move on," I vowed. "I'll find someone who loves me for me."
