Lynn's eyes narrowed, trying to read Alex's expression. "What's going on?" she demanded. "Why are you here?"
She tried to hide the fear in her eyes but it was hard... when a strange person broke into her house
Alex took a deep breath, his eyes locked on hers. "I don't mean any harm, Lynn," he said. "I know someone's been following you."
Lynn's heart skipped a beat. How did he know? She had been trying to brush it off as paranoia, but now Alex was confirming her worst fears. But wait! What if this was all his plan? what if he was the one who had been following her? if he knew someone was following her why wouldn't he just call the police instead of breaking into her house. that made more sense.
"You should have called the police then," She said and took a step back. she was in a more defensive mode now in case he tried anything.
"And what would they have done? would they have believed me" Alex ran his hand through his hair and took a step forward, this made Lynn take another step back and away from him... she didn't trust him one bit.
"Who?... who is following me..." she whispered, her eyes glistening with fear...
Alex hesitated, then pulled out his phone and showed her a photo. Lynn's eyes widened as she saw the face of the man who had been following her. it was the creepy stranger from before who knew her name! Wha what going on? what did he want from her...
"I'm not sure who he is but what I'm sure about is I'm not leaving you here all alone..." Alex said, his voice firm with finality...
"I can just call the police you don't have to worry about me... please leave" Lynn said, her voice a bit shaky. she wasn't sure if she wanted him to leave her all alone now... what if the creep broke into her house and tried to kill her... She didn't even have anyone she could call for help or a place to stay...
Lynn felt a chill run down her spine. Was she left with accepting his help...
"Where you following me too?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Alex's expression was grim. "No I wasn't at first, but the day I left your workplace, I just happened to notice a strange man lurking around... he seemed a bit suspicious," He said... Half of what he told her was a lie, but he was lying for her good... she didn't have to know the rest...
Lynn's mind was reeling. She didn't know what to believe, or who to trust. But as she looked into Alex's eyes, she saw something there that made her think he might be telling the truth.
"why didn't you tell me then? why did you wait till nightfall and try to break into my house!"
Lynn's eyes searched Alex's face, trying to read his intentions. But all she saw was concern and a hint of determination.
"Why? " she asked, her voice still barely above a whisper.
Alex took a step closer, his eyes locked on hers. "Because I want to protect you," he said. "I know we don't know each other well, but I feel like I need to help you."
Lynn's heart skipped a beat as she processed his words. No one had ever offered to protect her before. She was always the one taking care of herself.
"But why?" she asked again, trying to understand.
Alex hesitated, then said, "I don't know. Maybe it's because I see something in you that reminds me of myself. Or maybe it's just because I don't want to see anything happen to you."
Lynn's eyes dropped, her mind racing with emotions. No one had ever been so honest with her before.
As she looked up at Alex, she saw the sincerity in his eyes and knew she had to trust him. She had to take this chance and hoped it wasn't a wrong one... she hoped he was really sincere...
"Okay," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I'll let you help me."
Alex nodded a small smile on his face. "Good," he said. "We'll figure this out together."
As Lynn nodded, she felt a sense of relief wash over her. For the first time in her life, she felt like she wasn't alone. She felt like someone had her back and was watching over her... But she still hesitated... it was hard to trust someone fully when one was in her kind of situation... everyone always seemed sincere at first but later on... they changed...
Lynn hesitated, unsure of what to do. She didn't know Alex Hult, and yet he was asking her to trust him with her life.
"I don't know," she said, crossing her arms over her chest. "I don't even know you."
Alex nodded understandingly. "I know this is a lot to take in," he said. "But I'm telling you, Lynn, you're in danger. And I can help you."
Lynn shook her head, feeling a sense of unease. "I don't know," she repeated.
Alex took a step closer, his eyes locked on hers. "Please, Lynn," he said. "Just come with me. I'll explain everything once we're safe."
Lynn felt a shiver run down her spine as he moved closer. She didn't know what to make of him, or his motives.
"Why should I trust you?" she asked, trying to keep her voice steady.
Alex hesitated, then said, "Because I'm the only one who can help you right now. And I promise, I won't hurt you."
Lynn looked into his eyes, searching for any sign of deception. But all she saw was sincerity.
"Okay," she said finally, her voice barely above a whisper. "I'll come with you."
Alex nodded, the small smile returning to his face. "Good," he said. "Let's go."
As they walked out her front door... Lynn felt a sense of uneasiness. What was she getting herself into?
But as she looked back at her apartment, she saw the creepy stranger's face in the window, watching her!.. and her eyes widened in horror
And she knew she had made the right decision. Alex had saved her
