Alex is out of the dining hall after eating breakfast, a bowl of oats is enough for him, he's on his way to Math class but he's looking for Elena because he didn't see her at breakfast. He wonders if it's a part of her weird balanced diet thing and that's why she chose not to eat breakfast. Maybe she's running late but then remembers that Elena didn't do late. She's a morning person freak who wakes up as early as possible, does her skincare routine and she goes on about her day.
So Alex is thinking this is probably a strange balanced diet thing and she's probably already inside.
He spots Zayn and Zayn waves awkwardly to him, Alex waves back and Zayn speeds up his walk toward the school block. Alex has decided that helping Zayn to have an academic comeback in combat class is going to be hard because while he and the rest were jogging in sync Zayn was behind them struggling to catch up. Levi even pushed him out of the way until he fell.
Alex didn't help him because he was too annoyed to help him but still no one deserves to be bullied, his opinion on bullying still stands but he thinks it's time for Zayn to stand up for himself. He's the one who has to defend himself now, if he wants to be tough and be the knight he wants to be then Alex has to stop fighting his battles, he has to fight those battles on his own.
It's going to be hard to not interfere when he's being bullied but that's all he has to do, nothing so Zayn can finally be the elf he was born to be.
"Hey, Alex," Henry says walking next to Alex with a wide smile on his face. Alex rolls his eyes and lets out a loud sigh.
"What do you want Henry?"
"What do I want? Can't I say hi to one of the most handsome elves at this school?" Alex gives him a look, a look that can shoot straight bullets toward someone. Henry is taken aback by that look but he's not shocked because he gets that look from Alex all the time.
"Oh, Alexander do you hate me that much?"
"I don't hate you, I just find you annoying," he says and Henry gasps dramatically. They both enter the school and are headed in the same direction to math class.
"So that means you hate me. But why Alex everyone's in love with me."
"You really think everyone's in love with you?" Alex asks with a grimace, wondering how people could have such low taste.
"Yes, yes I do."
"You're a case."
"And I want you to fall in love with me." Henry waggles his eyebrows and Alex gives him a long stare before sighing and walking into class, luckily he's not going to be sitting next to him he's probably going to be sitting next to Laura, one of Anastasia's best friends.
"Where's my cousin?" Henry asks looking around. Alex sits on a chair in the middle row.
"I don't know, I thought she'd be here by now since I didn't see her at breakfast."
"Oh, my God, I didn't think she'd go through with it," Henry mutters but Alex hears him and he looks up at him.
"What are you talking about?" Alex asks him. And Henry looks at him shocked that Alex heard him, he didn't mean for Alex to hear him. But of course, he did, with those large pointy ears of his.
"Nothing." He says trying to walk away.
"Henry!" Alex calls his name and holds his blazer for him stopping him from moving forward. Henry looks at the blazer and then smirks.
"Wow, Alex this is the most flirtatious thing we've ever done together." Henry winks and Alex groans.
"Spill Henry!"
"Alright, it's the initiation. You know Elena's new, Anastasia led the initiation and took her to the forest."
"Oh," Alex remembers the first time he got initiated, he was more pissed than scared when they grabbed him off his bed. And when he was dropped in the enchanted forest they tried to scare him by saying there were a lot of monsters there. Alex was beyond thrilled when he heard that because he could not wait to fight those monsters off and kill them. But he was highly disappointed when he found out there were no monsters to kill.
But weeks later he did end up killing a troll when the security accidentally left the barrier down, which earned him so many points that people began to compare him to his mother, calling him the incarnation of Alexandra Monroe. He loved it. But Elena is not an elf and she's probably frightened in the forest right now.
He rises to his feet and goes to look for Elena but Mr Sapper, the short strict math teacher walks in and tells Alex to sit down.
"But Mr-"
"Sit down or you lose your points Mr Walker," he warns looking up at him with widened eyes. Alex hesitates and tries to explain why he wants to step out but he doesn't want to be the one to tell the teacher's about the initiation. So he just leaves it and goes straight to his seat.
"Good, hello class, where did we stop last week?" Mr Sapper says moving over to the whiteboard.
"Alex, what's wrong?" Pierre who is sitting next to him asks in a whisper.
"It's Elena, the initiation."
"Oh, hell," he says.
But Alex should know that Elena is fine because there is nothing evil in the forest unless the security guard accidentally puts the barrier down again and Elena is faced with an ogre. Or Anastasia murdered her. Alex doesn't care if she's a royal, he's going to murder her if he finds out that Anastasia murdered her.
But she's fine, it's just the enchanted forest, but why does it feel like she's not fine, why does it feel like she's in danger? This is the same feeling he got back on earth when he was looking for her at the party and his gut was right because she was being attacked by vampires.
Something's wrong and he can't just stay here and do nothing, he promised Elena he was never going to let anything bad happen to her and here he is, probably letting something bad happen to her.
He can't concentrate. Elena's all that's in his mind, that's until something strange happens. His head forcefully jerks up at the ceiling but he's not looking at the ceiling he's looking at Elena, Elena is running from something, she's screaming, something wants to hurt her, he sees what's going on, and it's vampires chasing her.
"Elena!" Alex shouts startling the whole class. He runs out of the class to help her. Fuck those points, Pierre runs after him to help her.
