Alex finally takes his medicine and he leaves the nurse's office begrudgingly. He begins to murmur, laying curses in the different Euroxian languages he's learned from Spanish to French and now English. He doesn't understand why he had to take medicine, he only had a minor bruise on his neck.
He felt weak today, those vampires were hella powerful but not powerful enough for the Headmistress. She was badass today, Alex will give her that but he should have been the one to slay those vampires, it's what he's been trained for.
Just when he thought today couldn't get any worse, he spots Henry leaning over the wall with one leg higher than the other and he holds a purple lupis flower that's pink and shaped like a heart. Alex rolls his eyes at Henry's presence. He doesn't acknowledge Henry's presence he just walks past him. Henry leaves the wall and follows him.
"Hey, handsome I got you something." Henry gives Alex the tiny flower, Alex takes it, squeezes it with one hand and throws it away. "Ouch, that was my heart you crushed Alex."
"I'll do more than just crush your heart," he says to him and he smiles Alex knows that he's smiling and he knows he's smiling because he likes what Alex had just said and he's a fucking pervert. But whatever, it's Henry, he should be used to him by now.
"What even happened? I heard those vampires were more powerful than the ones that attacked cousin back in the human world."
"It's not, they're older vampires the ancient ones. I guess the barrier was put down again by accident," he says angrily.
"Hey!" Henry says stopping him and willing Alex to face him, Alex lets out a sigh of annoyance and he has no choice but to face Henry they look into each other's eyes. "Don't beat yourself up okay? You did the best you could, you're one of the best knights that I know." he looks from left to right and leans closer to tell Alex what he doesn't want others to say. "You're even better than the knights."
Alex rolls his eyes but he tries to hide his smile he walks ahead and Henry follows him.
"You are truly annoying Prince Henry."
"What? You know I'm right." he chuckles.
Alex isn't going to lie. Henry is stinking hot everyone knows that, he knows that, he's gay for Zeus' sake he can see how handsome and swaggy he is. But unlike everyone else, he's not going to be jumping onto Henry's bed which is all Henry wants to do. It's not like he wants to form a genuine connection with him, he just wants to have sex with Alex which is something Alex will not easily give up.
He's keeping his body for the right person, someone he actually likes and he does not like Henry. He still can't believe Elena is related to this guy, but she can't help but wonder if Elena was raised here will she act as spoiled and entitled as Henry? Will they even be friends? Will she be friends with Anastasia instead?
All these questions are giving him a headache and he's tired already. He just wants to eat and then rest. He and Henry walk into the cafeteria together and the girls and the gays are already making googly eyes at the lightning prince.
"You see everyone loves me," he says to Alex. "Why can't you love me like the others Alex?" he says pouting and Alex looks at him with a grimace, he sucks his teeth and moves forward. Henry follows him with a smile on his face. One thing about Henry Baron-Grant is that he never gives up.
Alex takes his food and walks over to his table, Henry follows him, not to sit with him and his friends but to check on his cousin.
"Alex! How are you?" Elena asks, Alex sits next to her.
"I'm fine, why is everyone acting like I might explode? I'm okay," he says eating his food angrily.
"He's so stubborn," Henry says laughing. Everyone at the table looks at him except Alex. "Cousin, I heard what happened to you. Should I contact Dad to tell-"
"NO! No don't do that, do not tell him anything." She pleads and Henry nods his head smiling.
"Already keeping secrets from the old man. I knew I would like you."
"Oh brother," Fran says under her breath.
"Fine, I won't tell him, but you know he'll find out eventually right? He's the King," he says and yes that makes sense but Elena is still hoping that he doesn't know because then everyone else at home will know and it will just be embarrassing. Too embarrassing. "Alright cousin see you later, and please try not to get attacked by a vampire again."
Elena giggles. "I'll try."
"Okay, bye Alex," he says in a soft tone. Alex doesn't look his way, Henry smiles and leaves.
"On the bright side at least it wasn't a troll this time that snuck into campus," Fran says.
"Yeah, that troll did a lot of damage around these parts," Hilda says shaking her head. "How does one benefit from all that anger?"
"I wish I saw the ancient vampires, you know give them a piece of my mind," Adrian says.
"I don't know those vampires seemed pretty strong from what I heard ." Says Margaret.
"Yeah and if Alex and Pierre couldn't stop them what makes you think you were going to?" Fran says and they burst into laughter.
"Hey! What is that supposed to mean? I'm just as skilled as Alex and Pierre." he defends himself.
"Where? In your dreams?" Fran says and everyone laughs once more.
Except for Alex who looks like he has failed. Elena can sense the failure in his eyes. She wants him to know that he's not a failure, but also she should be saying that to herself more often.
Maybe if she learns more about her powers she's going to be more confident about herself. But Alex's ego is bruised. For him to have lost a fight with vampires will leave people surprised and since everyone expects so much of him they're going to question his abilities over this small battle. But fuck them, Elena decides to change the topic.
"I got hazed last night, thanks for the heads up guys," she says then eats from her salad.
"Oh, my Gods! I completely forgot about that." Says Margaret.
"Yeah, me too maybe because the hazing for the new students happened last week. I didn't think they'd do it to you." Fran says.
"So you all went through hazing in your first time here?" Elena asks.
"Yes." they all say in unison and wow. Elena just thought Anastasia had an agenda against her. Or maybe she does, Elena just has to be extra careful with that one.
"Are you okay?" Alex says smiling.
"I wasn't at first because I thought there were monsters in the forest, but there wasn't. I only met a beautiful mermaid."
"Oh, you met Coral," Alex says.
"How's she doing by the way? That girl still hasn't given me the shell she promised me." Margaret says in disappointment, she shakes her head but she should have known she wasn't going to get that shell as fast as possible because Coraline is unreliable.
"Uh, she's good. She's very nice."
"Wait until she starts throwing pranks on you. One of these days I'm going to fry her tail with the other tuna." Fran says and everyone laughs.
"Fran!" Hilda says in a warning tone.
Fran shrugs not understanding what she did wrong. "What?" she says and they all laugh some more. Oh well, at least Elena has made new friends.
She gives Pierre a glance and he's laughing in his own quiet and cute way. She still cannot believe he and Anastasia used to date.
