Chapter 13 - A SURPRISE VISIT

It was a sunny Wednesday afternoon at the park where Ethan and Anya often met. Ethan was sitting on the bench, strumming his guitar when he saw Anya walking towards him with a big smile on her face.

"Ethan, you won't believe it! My family is in town and they wanted to surprise me with a visit to the park!" Anya exclaimed, her eyes shining with excitement.

Ethan's heart skipped a beat at the mention of her family. He had never met them before and was eager to finally put faces to the names Anya had mentioned to him over the months.

"Really? That's great news, Anya!" Ethan replied with a smile. "I can't wait to meet them."

Just then, Anya's family arrived, and Ethan stood up to greet them. Anya's parents were warm and welcoming, and her younger sister was shy but sweet.

Ethan was introduced to Anya's cousin, Aaron Johansson, who he had met once before at the hospital. Aaron's wife, Lisa, was also with them and she greeted Ethan with a warm smile.

Anya's mother pulled out a picnic blanket and spread it on the grass, motioning for everyone to sit down. They had brought a large basket filled with food and drinks, and they all started to eat and chat.

Ethan felt a bit shy at first, but he soon found himself laughing and chatting with Anya's family like they were his own. They were all so warm and welcoming, and he could see where Anya had gotten her kind and caring nature.

As they were finishing up their meal, Anya's younger sister, Ayame, suggested they all play a game of frisbee. Ethan had never been much of an athlete, but he decided to give it a try. To his surprise, he actually caught the Frisbee a few times, earning cheers and high fives from Anya's family.

As the sun began to set, Anya's family started to pack up their things, saying their goodbyes to Ethan and Anya. Anya hugged each of her family members tightly, tears in her eyes.

"I'm so happy you guys came to visit me," she said, her voice choking with emotion.

Ethan could see how much Anya loved her family, and he was grateful to have been able to meet them. He knew that he would never forget this day, and that it had brought him and Anya even closer.

They spent the afternoon chatting, laughing, and enjoying each other's company. Ethan was happy to see Anya surrounded by so much love and support.

As the sun began to set, Anya's family had to leave. Before they left, they all gave Ethan hugs and thanked him for being such a good friend to Anya.

As Ethan watched them walk away, he felt a sense of gratitude and happiness. He was grateful for the opportunity to meet Anya's family and for the joy they brought to her life.

He knew that Anya would always have their love and support, and that made him feel at peace.

As Ethan entered his home, he saw his father sitting on the couch next to his mother, who had tears in her eyes. Ethan's father turned to face him and stood up, his eyes red and swollen from crying.

"Ethan, I'm sorry. I know I've hurt your mother and you. I've realized my mistakes, and I promise to be a better husband and father," he said, his voice filled with remorse.

Ethan's initial anger quickly dissipated, and he felt conflicted. He wanted to forgive his father, but he also remembered the countless times his father had promised to change before, only to go back to his old ways.

"I need some time to think," Ethan said before turning and running out of the house.

He wandered around the city, lost in thought.

As soon as Ethan's mother realized that Ethan had run away, she immediately called Anya in tears. Anya could hear the panic and distress in her voice and quickly assured her that they would do everything they could to find Ethan.

Anya quickly gathered her family and explained the situation to them. They immediately agreed to help search for Ethan.

They split up into groups and combed the nearby areas, checking all the places where he might have gone. They searched for hours, but Ethan was nowhere to be found.

Finally, Anya spotted Ethan sitting alone on a bench in the park, his head buried in his hands. She ran over to him, her heart pounding with worry.

"Ethan, are you okay?" she asked softly.

Ethan looked up at her, his eyes red and puffy from crying. "I...I don't know what to do," he whispered. "I can't go back there. I can't forgive him for what he did to my mother."

Anya wrapped her arms around him, holding him tightly. " It's okay, Ethan.

Anya holds him tightly, letting him cry it out. "It's okay, Ethan," she says soothingly. "I'm here for you. We'll figure this out together."

Ethan nods, grateful for her support. "I just can't forgive him for what he's done," he says, his voice still choked with emotion.

Anya nods in understanding. "It's okay to feel that way, Ethan. But we can't let it consume us. We'll figure out a way to deal with this, I promise."

Ethan looks at her, his eyes still red from crying. "Thank you, Anya. I don't know what I'd do without you."

Anya smiles warmly at him. "You don't have to worry about that, Ethan. I'll always be here for you, no matter what."

Ethan's family soon joined them at the park, and together they all sat down to talk. After meeting them they all went to Anya's house.

Ethan stood in Anya's living room, staring at his father who was standing awkwardly in front of him. Anya and her parents were also present in the room, giving Ethan and his father some space to talk.
